Hello Patreons!

Welcome to the last newsletter of 2020!

We hope you've had a lovely Christmas and are looking forward to a new year. Honestly 2020, fuck off.

Not a huge amount to report for me, I worked Christmas morning and then spent the day at my aunty and uncle's place (my uncle is a patreon and it was his birthday on Boxing Day - Hi Tim!) It was a smaller gathering that usual, given that I have a gigantic family. But it was so lovely to actually get to catch up with everyone! And my brother and sister-in-law made a surprise appearance - they've been travelling around Australia for the last couple of years and we didn't expect that they'd be able to get home, so it was great to see them.

Goose had a great first Christmas - he ran around the backyard like a mad dog and then passed out by lunchtime. It's a hard life, being a puppy.

Let's see what Matt and Dave have been up to!

Matt:

"Merry Chrishmish and a Happy December 27! I got a message from my sister during the week saying: "I was listening to episode 61 The Legend of Krampus and at around the 9 minute mark, you accidentally came up with Chrishmish"... I was wondering where it came from!

I'm on the couch watching the Boxing Day test match, it's the first major sporting event in Melbourne with a crowd for 9 or 10 months! The crowd capacity is reduced to 30,000 (MCG normally holds 100,000)... but still, nice to have a bit of semi normalcy!

Thanks to everyone who added to the Christmas playlist last week - I played it a lot on Christmas Eve/Christmas day! I was thinking we could do another one this week for NYE! So again I've set up a spotify playlist (you'll need an account to add songs, but it can be a free account). I reckon for this one let's add songs that are crowd pleasers/dance floor fillers... I wanna see old songs and new, I've added a random selection to get us started... feel free to comment below with the songs you picked and why!

Here's the playlist: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5H4ZYPzr8SCwlhPM9Ska86 I just put (just a lazy 34 tracks - bit of a mixed bag, give it a play and add away!)

-Matt"

Dave:

"Hello!  And Merry Chrishmish Pah-Trons.

I hope you’ve all had a good Christmas/holiday season. I know it’s been a weird one for many people around the world, and even here in Australia.

I’m spending my break with my gf’s family at the beach. We had a nice breakfast and lunch on Christmas Day but I was able to learn my lesson from last weekend and paced myself.   We had a crazy night of weather here last night. A hail storm came through and flooded the area. It was an (almost) white (almost) Chrishmish.   This time last year we were evacuating the same house for bushfires. Crazy.

I was lucky to get a few books for Christmas. Pride and Predjudice, Alice In Wonderland, Ninteen Eighty Four and Dracula. So look out for those on Book Cheat in 2021.  I’m currently reading The Grapes Of Wrath. Not exactly feel good holiday literature, but it’s very well written.

Also I got the Poirot Nintendo switch game! What a spoilt boy I am. Haven’t had a chance to play it yet. But looking forward to testing my little grey cells.

I’m off to the beach now!   Big love to you all."

We hope you had a great Christmas, and for those of you who couldn't have a normal Christmas, we hope you still had a really nice time. And fingers crossed 2021 will be a bit kinder!

Thanks so much for your support, this year in particular. It's been a strange, scary and uncertain year and it's been really heartwarming to see the support from you all, and between you all as well. It's a lovely community that you've all created, and we're really grateful for you.

See you next year!

Bop
