Hello friends!

I hope you're doing well, and that you had a great weekend!

I had a weirdly busy week last week so I'm trying to give myself a couple of days off. I'm about to go meet a friend in the park for a picnic, seeing as it's the only kind of activity Melbourne is allowed to do these days.

Other than that I don't have too much to report on, because I spent all of last week writing my report that will come out this week! I haven't even watched anything good lately, so I'll try to do better by next week.

Let's see what Matt and Dave have been up to!

Matt:

"Hey mates! Sadly the Saints season came to an end on Friday night... We lost by five goals but really should've been a lot closer... We had our chances and couldn't make it happen unfortunately! This excerpt from an article yesterday sums it all up pretty well: "Lady Luck was clearly with the Tigers from the start, who kicking a goal in the opening minute and piled on five in the first term, a number of them taking wicked bounces and finding their way through the big sticks. At the other end, St Kilda had their chances, particularly through the second and third quarters – but they wasted them. It was a somewhat ironic end to the year for the AFL’s most accurate side, who kicked 134.61 in their 10 wins this year, but 53.62 in their eight losses. If you look purely at where both sides’ shots were taken from, on average, the Saints should’ve been four goals to the better... For St Kilda, it’s hard to be disappointed with a top six finish and a first finals victory in 10 years, but the nature of the loss to such a good team – they seriously could’ve won if they’d kicked straight – will hurt."

I don't have much else to report, Ive been bingeing Schitts Creek for some feel good tv and also started on season two of the Umbrella Academy for Prime Mates (one episode in so far and I'm loving it!)

Hope you're all doing well!

Matt"

Dave:

"Hello Patre-bon-bons!

I am a tired old thang after walking over 20km this weekend. And I haven’t even left the house! Nah good on ya, just kidding.

For overseas listeners, 20km is about half a mile give or take. So yeah, I’m pretty tired.

Some of you know I’ve gotten even more into action films during lockdown, and lately I’ve narrowed the focus even further... Jason Statham action films.

I’ve seen 10 of his films now. Is that some sort of world record??? Honestly would love to know how many you’ve seen off the list on his Wikipedia page. What is your Statham Score?

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jason_Statham

This week I’ve watched  Death Race (2008) and The Meg (2018).

Death Race got me in when it was described on Rotten Tomatoes as  "Mindless, violent, and lightning-paced, Death Race is little more than an empty action romp." And I was like TICK!!

It felt like a student film on a big budget. The premise is convicts race around a track in weaponised cars and try to kill each other. Would make a sick video game. Looking it up there was an old school 70s arcade game and maybe a mobile game.

The Meg felt like a B movie on a big budget. It’s about a very very big shark. Statham really got to show off his acting in this one because instead of being a bad ass gangster or military guy he was a bad ass deep sea diver. LOOK AT HIS RANGE! Anyway, film was a lot of fun.

Let me know if you have any Statham suggestions for what I watch next. I think I’m going to try and slowly watch his entire filmography.

Sadly, I don’t think a Brendan Fraser / Jason Statham movie (AKA the perfect film) exists."

For the record, I have also seen 10 Statham movies. Not bad!

So there we have it for another week. I hope you're staying safe and looking after yourself (and washing your butt)

I've done a tally from that Wikipedia page, and I've apparently seen 22 Jason Statham films D: The Transporter series is a classic, extremely Luc Besson. As for Death Race, I've not seen the remake, but the original is Death Race 2000 (1975), and there actually is a series of games based on it called Carmageddon. I played the original 90s game a whole bunch, and I believe they rebooted it a few years ago.

Hey Matt, I saw this list recently, (https://takelessons.com/blog/best-singers-of-all-time-z02) and decided to seek out the ones I haven't heard of, or have heard of but not actually listened to their music.
