Hello friends!

How are you doing? I hope you're doing well.

It's been a cracking weekend in Melbourne, really warm and sunny and lovely. Definitely lifting the spirits of our fellow Melbournians. If you're single and live alone, you're allowed to have one friend that you can visit for some human contact, and my friend Ana has kindly chosen me.... probably because we live walking distance apart. So she came over today and we watched TV and ate cheese and she even brought dinner. The perfect guest! So it was nice to get a little taste of normal by having a friend over (safely). Now I'm writing this while my boyfriend does the dishes and then we're going to get stuck into the next Marvel movie in my marathon - I'm up to Endgame! It's all nearly over! I don't know what I'll watch next!

Let's check in with Matt and Dave and see what they're up to :

Matt:

"The sunshine has continued in Melbourne as the covid numbers keep dropping and its feeling a bit more positive by the week. I bought a new/second hand bass guitar on the spur of the moment and have been playing that a bit. My limited repertoire of (one song of each) the Clash, Sunnyboys, Deep Purple, Devo, Pennywise, White Stripes and the Super Mario Bros theme are slowly coming back to me. I'm in preliminary talks with Dave about forming a Poirot themed punk band... Stay tuned.

Ive continued exercising every day which has been nice. Next weekend I'm running 10k virtually against some old mates, aiming to beat 48 minutes... No idea how I'll go though. How tedious is it when people talk about the exercise they're doing? (Apologies for that, just not a lot else going on!) I even did a personal training session via zoom... Strange days indeed

Ive probably buried the lead here, the Saints have won their way through to their first finals series since 2011! Meaning it's our first finals appearance since we started do go on! It's very exciting... There's a week off between the home and away season and the finals too, so I get to enjoy finals fever for at least a fortnight... We will be playing an elimination final against either the Dogs or the Pies in a couple of weeks time (coindedentally they are the teams Dave and Jess casually support... Funnily enough though it's Jess who goes for the pies, not Dave).

Hope you're all doing well! Hit me up with any 2020 music release tips... a few that have been recommended that I've started listening to this week: Crack Cloud - Pain Olympics, Imperial Triumphant - Alphaville and Biffy Clyro - A Celebration of Endings... So far so good, all very different from each other but variety is the spice of life.

Cheers, Matt"

And Dave:

"Hello Patron-bon-bons.

Doesn’t time fly? It was our little puppy Humphrey’s first birthday today. We took him for a big dog’s day out (loving the extra hour of outside time we’re allowed in Melbourne now).  He ran on the beach, played in the water and then we even bought him his own lemon sorbet ice cream (don’t worry we only let him have a few licks - but he was so so happy).

Here’s a photo post beach, pre sorbet:

I haven’t watched any action movies this week yet. I was going to tonight but my book cheat recording got moved so we’ll have to see how long that goes.

Any suggestions on kick ass action flicks would be most appreciated. Maybe Navy Seals starring Charlie Sheen? I know nothing about it but the poster looks extremely suitable to my tastes.

This week’s Book Cheat is all about the H.G. Wells sci-fi classic “The Time Machine.”  I’m going to talk about it with Joel Zammit and Jackson Baly from Sanspants. Good times ahoy!"

There we have it, another week in the Do Go On Universe. I hope you're all keeping busy and looking after yourselves as best you can.

We've got a really interesting episode coming this week, and there will be another bonus episode coming soon as well!

Be good (wash your butt)

As for music reccos: Don't know if you're into metal, but August Burns Red put out "Guardians" this year and it's bangin. Also Northlane's new album is great, they're Australian. And if you're looking for some funk, Cory Wong "Live in Amsterdam" with the Metropole Orkest is one of the funkiest things to enter my ear holes this year. That and Vulfpeck live at Madison Square Garden.
