Lore: Raziel's Orphanage (Patreon)

Located in the western part of the city, it's famous for being the largest orphanage ever created to date. For that, and for having multiple irregularities. Even if it isn't considered a reliable institution, it's better than pushing minors into thievery and mendicancy from a young age, which is why most of the city's inhabitants turn a blind eye and generally avoid having to go around the area.

Education is poor and guidance is nonexistent. After reaching the age of majority, many of the orphans end up taking dangerous jobs in factories or turn to crime. One out of three children usually goes to jail at least once in their lives and only two out of thirty are able to enter university. The conditions on site leave much to be desired, more focused on palliating the lack of staff and resources with an iron fist than on preparing children for their adult lives.

Even for Raziel, a city accustomed to crime, the area around the orphanage is considered especially dangerous. Substance trafficking, thievery, fighting and vandalism are commonplace in the area. Organized gangs make regular visits in search of new recruits who want to join their ranks, promising them a better future. Under these conditions it isn't uncommon for some children to run away and prefer to live on the streets. For the same reason the children who disappear aren't even searched for. This gives rise to a legend that is told among the older orphans to terrify the younger ones, about the sale of organs on the black market. Although the orphanage is neglected, it has never reached that level of corruption

Another dark note is that the number of suicides and deaths due to neglect is the highest among minors in all of Raziel, including those who are dumpsite habitants. Although things are complicated, most children choose to stay: clothes, bed, free food and a pitiful education, but an education after all. However, in the last three years, things have improved slightly due to the volunteer workshops. During the week, optional training courses have been started, such as: robotics, cooking or computers. These classes are helping to control delinquency, keeping the kids busy and enhancing qualities that can serve them as future work tools. What only a few people know is that behind this initiative is St. Gabriel's Church, for its own purposes.

Situado en la parte oeste de la ciudad es famoso por ser el mayor orfanato jamás creado hasta la fecha. Por eso, y por tener múltiples irregularidades. Aún si no es considerado una institución fiable, es mejor que empujar a los menores al robo y la mendicidad desde pequeños, por lo que la mayor parte de los habitantes de la ciudad hacen la vista gorda y, generalmente, evitan tener que ir por la zona.

La educación es escasa y la orientación nula. Tras cumplir la mayoría de edad muchos de los huérfanos acaban aceptando trabajos peligrosos en fábricas o, directamente, se dedican al crimen. Uno de cada tres niños, suele pisar la cárcel, al menos, una vez en su vida y solo dos de cada treinta son capaces de entrar en la universidad. Las condiciones del sitio dejan mucho que desear, más centradas en paliar la falta de personal y recursos con mano dura, que en preparar a los niños para su vida adulta.

Incluso para Raziel, una ciudad acostumbrada al crimen, los alrededores del orfanato se consideran especialmente peligrosos. Tráfico de sustancias, robo, peleas y vandalismo es de lo más habitual en la zona. Las bandas organizadas suelen hacer visitas periódicas en busca de nuevos reclutas que quieran unirse a sus filas prometiéndoles un futuro mejor. Bajo estas condiciones no es extraño que algunos niños huyan y prefieran vivir en la calle. Por esa misma razón los críos que desaparecen tampoco se les busca. Dando pie a una leyenda que se cuenta entre los huérfanos más mayores para aterrorizar a los más jóvenes, sobre venta de órganos en el mercado negro. Aunque el orfanato es descuidado, jamás ha llegado a ese nivel de corrupción.

Otra de las notas oscuras es que el número de suicidios y muertes por negligencia es la más alta entre los menores de todo Raziel, incluidos los que son habitantes del basurero. Aunque las cosas están complicadas, la mayoría de niños optan por quedarse: Ropa, cama, comida gratis y una educación penosa, pero una educación después de todo. No obstante, en los últimos tres años, las cosas han mejorado ligeramente debido a los talleres de voluntariado. Durante la semana, se han empezado a hacer cursillos formativos de carácter optativo, tales como: robótica, cocina o informática. Estas clases están ayudando a controlar la delincuencia, manteniendo a los chavales ocupados y potenciando cualidades que puedan servirles como futura herramienta laboral. Lo que muy poca gente sabe es que detrás de esta iniciativa se encuentra la Iglesia de St. Gabriel, con sus propios propósitos.
