In the Witch Tales universe, magic is primitive, ritual-based and very often the quality and skills are defined from birth. Spinners are one of the rarest and most minority types of witches. Hunted and singled out for their hard-to-camouflage semi-beastly appearance, their difficulty in finding mates and their deep-rooted solitary habits, they're one of the strangest and most unknown beings, even among their own kind.

They're always hidden, usually gentle in character and with a sense of harmony with the nature that surrounds them. All spinners without exception are female and their tradition, as well as their magic, has been passed down from mother to daughter since ancient times. Their magic depends almost entirely on their threads, which they make themselves with their back appendage. This thread can be used to weave tapestries of life, their most famous technique. With these tapestries, the spinners are able to predict past or future events in vivid images. They can also create fabrics with magical properties such as: Invisibility, optical illusions and camouflage, stronger, tougher and lighter and with the ability to resist magic.

They rarely make use of this quality to create traps, but are skilled at fabricating complex mechanisms made of threads. Both to defend themselves and anticipate their enemy's location and hold them back, as well as to attack them. In addition to their qualities for creating objects, they can also repair them without the seams being noticeable to onlookers. Apart from their physical peculiarities and appearance, this also extends to the special qualities of the repaired... They can restore magic to a magical object, keep severed parts of living beings alive, or restore fertility to a sterile body. However, healing is not their forte - although the threads are good at repairing, they aren't capable of eliminating disease or healing in the strictest sense. The extent to which threads could create new and incredible beings is unknown, but they've been shown to be able to keep creatures on the brink of death alive.

Not all spinners join covens, but those who do remain solitary and uninvolved individuals. For other witches, they are often seen as not very capable or limited usefulness, since, despite being able to create potions, perform spells and rituals... Their magical ability is residual when it comes to any area that does not strictly adhere to their threads. Having a spinner close by can be very useful, but they inspire neither fear nor respect among their own kind. Even if the life of these witches is often characterised by solitude, they've learned to adapt and love the space and tranquillity of nature.

Despite their physical similarity to spiders, they don't share their habits, nor do they have a special connection to these creatures. The spinners are the result of a curse, so they're completely human despite everything. The origin of their curse goes back centuries and explains, to a large extent, why their magic is so small, as it's closely linked to the extra appendage they possess. An appendage that is essentially the fruit of powerful and very pure magic... Their appearance often generates rumours and false myths about them. But they're usually harmless and choose exile voluntarily.

En el universo de Witch Tales, la magia es primitiva, basada en rituales y muy a menudo la calidad y cualidades vienen definidas desde el nacimiento. Las hilanderas son uno de los tipos de brujas más minoritarios y raros. Perseguidas y señaladas por su apariencia semibestial difícil de camuflar, su dificultad para encontrar parejas y sus arraigadas costumbres solitarias, las convierten en uno de los seres más extraños y desconocidos, incluso entre las suyas.

Siempre ocultas, de carácter, normalmente, apacible y con un sentido de armonía con la naturaleza que las rodea. Todas las hilanderas sin excepción son de sexo femenino y tanto su tradición, como su magia, se transmite de madres a hijas desde tiempos antiguos. Su magia depende casi enteramente de sus hilos, que fabrican ellas mismas con su apéndice posterior. Este hilo puede servir para tejer tapices de la vida, su técnica más famosa. Con estos tapices, las hilanderas son capaces de predecir hechos pasados o futuros en vívidas imágenes. También pueden crear tejidos con propiedades mágicas como: La invisibilidad, ilusiones ópticas y camuflaje, más fuertes, más duros y más ligeros y con la capacidad de resistir a la magia.

Rara vez hacen uso de esta cualidad para crear trampas, pero son hábiles fabricando complejos mecanismos hechos de hilos. Tanto para defenderse y prever la localización de su enemigo y retenerlo, como para atacarlo. Más allá de sus cualidades para la creación de objetos, también pueden repararlos sin que las costuras sean perceptibles para los espectadores. Aparte de sus particularidades físicas y su apariencia, esto se extiende, también, a las cualidades especiales de lo reparado… Pueden devolver la magia a un objeto mágico, mantener con vida partes seccionadas de seres vivos o devolver la fertilidad a un cuerpo estéril. No obstante, la sanación no es su fuerte, aunque los hilos son buenos reparadores, no son capaces de eliminar enfermedades o curar en el sentido más estricto. Se desconoce hasta qué punto los hilos podrían crear seres nuevos e increíbles, pero han demostrado poder servir para mantener con vida a criaturas al borde de la muerte.

No todas las hilanderas se ligan a aquelarres, pero quiénes lo hacen, siguen manteniéndose como individuos solitarios y poco participativos. Para otras brujas, a menudo son vistas como poco capaces o con una utilidad reducida, puesto que, a pesar de poder crear pociones, realizar hechizos y rituales… Su capacidad mágica es residual cuando se trata de cualquier área que no se ciña estrictamente a sus hilos. Tener cerca a una hilandera puede ser muy útil, pero no inspiran temor, ni respeto entre los suyos. Aún si la vida de estas brujas suele caracterizarse por la soledad, han aprendido a adaptarse y aman el espacio y la tranquilidad de la naturaleza.

A pesar de su similitud física con las arañas, no comparten sus hábitos, ni tienen una conexión especial con estas criaturas. Las hilanderas son fruto de una maldición, por lo que, son completamente humanas pese a todo. El origen de su maldición se remonta siglos atrás y explica, en gran medida, que su magia sea tan reducida, puesto que está estrechamente ligado al apéndice extra que poseen. Un apéndice que en esencia es fruto de una magia poderosa y muy pura… En muchas ocasiones, su apariencia genera rumores y falsos mitos sobre ellas. Pero, habitualmente, son inofensivas y eligen el exilio voluntariamente.
