Dawn of the Giantess (Volume 4)

By Richard C.H. Davies

Chapter 7 – Escape Plan

This story contains: Giantess, giantess attack, shrunken man, shrunken woman, handheld

Katie had actually felt pleased to see the Doctor return, but it wasn’t long before she lost those feelings again.

Doctor Cook had immediately found her when she had returned to the house and asked her to join her in her study.

Both of them were seated opposite each other. Katie clenched her hands, sensing something was not right.

"Katie, I trusted you. I trusted you to take a scientific approach to the studies." The Doctor’s face was lined with disappointment. Her eyes were looking directly into Katie's but her face was forlorn.

"I had high hopes for you, I really thought that you could become a protégée of mine." She shook her head sadly.

"I thought you could control your base instincts, but you have shown me that you can't be trusted," Doctor Cook felt that her act of disappointment was superb and flawless. Little did Katie know that the Doctor was relying on Katie to act in her typical spontaneous fashion; when facing adversity.

In another time, the Doctor could have made much better use of her, but unfortunately it was not to be, the time pressures she was under were upon her now.

She could see Katie's lip trembling slightly, her eyes were welling up with tears, but she was refusing to show Doctor Cook her tears. Good, she couldn't stand them anyway. She had no time for tears, not even from her own daughter.

“What you have been doing, having a relationship with one of my colleagues, potentially one of your colleagues; and also Lauren being a test subject as well,” she shook her head, “It’s just not acceptable. If you were a qualified scientist you would know it isn’t ethical. Perhaps I expected too much of you.”

"Please can you prepare to leave shortly, we will have the helicopter take you."

"Where will they take me?" Katie asked, her voice quivering. Doctor cook shook her head.

"That's not my problem anymore, I can’t protect you any longer. Goodbye Katie," she turned on her heel and left.

*

Katie rushed into her room, tears streaming down her face. They had been found out.

She picked up her pillow and threw it at the wall in a fit of rage. Balling up her fists until her fingernails dug into her palms. She wanted to make all of this go away.

She heaved her back against the door and sobbed, her shoulders bouncing up and down, feeling the warm trickle of her tears on her cheeks.

Through the haze of her eyes she spotted the key-card. They hadn't taken it off her.

She wiped tears away from her eyes with the back of her hand as her brain began swirling; formulating a plan. She had to take action. She couldn’t be a victim any longer. There was a chance that they hadn’t deactivated her pass yet. She had to act now… immediately.

She and Lauren had already made a plan, but this brought it forwards quite a bit. They had no time to finalise their plans. It was now or never. There was a small window of opportunity.

She grabbed the key-card off her desk and clutched it tightly in her hand.

Katie reached down, pulled out the box with Steve inside and lifted the lid.

“I’m doing it, I’m going to try and escape with Lauren, you’re coming with me,” she said down to him.

He cheered with his hands in the air.

“Can you get the antidote?” he asked nervously.

Katie shrugged.

“I don’t know how it all works yet but I’ll ask Lauren, I’m going to put you in a container I have made with air-holes. It will protect you if I drop my bag or something,” he nodded his thanks and let her place him inside the Tupperware container with padding. She had some snacks in there.

She quickly packed her bag with as many useful objects that she had collected around the house over the last few weeks.

She sneaked out of her room, looked out in both directions to check it was clear and the on tiptoes she darted towards the laboratory door.

She keyed in the code and used the card.

The light paused on red and then glowed green.

'Yes' she mouthed with a smile, gripping her fists together with excitement, then stepping into the decontamination chamber.

Katie decided to risk going into the first level of the basement lab where the shrunken people village was. She crept from decontamination and peered around corners each time, nobody was around. It seemed deserted.

She approached the village and was taken aback. It was completely empty.

“Jennifer!” she called out, tempering her voice in a whisper. “Christian! Lisa!”

There was no response.

She looked around the lab for inspiration. Where had they all gone? There must have been hundreds of people in there before.

She looked back at the village and reached in, pulling up one of the houses. She expected it to be heavy but it was a light structure, relatively strong.

She tilted it carefully, looking inside the windows. Contents clunked about inside, sliding to the bottom wall but she couldn’t see anybody inside.

“Is anyone here? I’m here to rescue you!” she shouted out.

Suddenly a large artificial hedge made out of reindeer moss moved.

She saw a pair of white arms appear, they thrust out and a body crawled out. Followed by another.

Her heart jumped for joy.

“Oh my god, I thought that they had taken you,” she sighed in relief at the sight of Jennifer and Christian. Without delay she grabbed them and hoisted them up so that they were level with her face.

“Are you okay?” she asked, they nodded, their faces very nervous. “Well done for hiding, I’m getting out of here and I’m taking you with me,” she saw relieved smiles on their faces. Her previous misdeeds temporarily forgotten.

They asked if she knew how to get them to normal height again. She shook her head but said that she would try and find out.

“Where’s Lisa?” She asked them.

“The crazy lady took her,” Jennifer shouted in frustration.

“Doctor Cook?” Katie asked, trying to think about what to do.

“The other crazy lady, the younger one, her daughter… Lena,” Christian replied.

“Oh god… I can’t go back in the house now… they’ll catch me.”

“You have to get us out of here,” Jennifer begged. “We can tell the police about all of this as soon as we’re safe. They’ll rescue her, I’m sure.”

Katie nodded uncertainly. She didn’t like the thought of Lisa with Lena at all. That woman was wicked. She was certain that she did vile things to people. She was also pretty sure that people didn’t last very long in Lena’s grasp. But she would risk all of them if she went back.

She had to move on and hope Lisa would be okay.

“Okay, we haven’t got time to talk any further, meet Steve.” She put them in the container with Steve and all of the padding that was with him so they didn’t get knocked about.

She put on her the backpack and left for the lift to the basement.

*

Aldin looked over his tablet screen at Doctor Cook.

“She’s just left level 1 and she is going down to the lowest basement level, just as you planned,” he stated.

“Don’t look so surprised Aldin, I’m good at what I do,” she replied with a thin smile.

“You’re good at getting what you want…” he retorted, it wasn’t an insult, it was very much a compliment from him.

The deal was that they had made with ATR-10, as part of their departure from Pharmatiar was that she would very publicly reveal a giantess. Show the world what was possible, but it would be fully blamed on Pharmatiar.

ATR-10 would then announce that they had the technology and investors would flock to them. That was their theory at least. In Doctor Cook’s view the publicity was inevitable.

If K-7 got the American contract it would be game over. She wanted… needed to be on the forefront of history on this technology.

“The logistics team are in the process of emptying all of the containers, I have spoken to the Captain of Athena and the ship and crew are mobilised and ready to launch, we just need to do a full clean-up here. We’re priming the demolition charges and the incinerators.”

Doctor Cook nodded. They had an exit strategy to cleanse all evidence, destroying the lab and the house. It would be burnt out and filled in. They had to at least make it look like they had been compromised.

Doctor Cook had collected all of her test patients and had already had them loaded in one of the vehicles when she got back, before she had confronted Katie.

She hadn’t counted on some of the test subjects hiding so well in the village, but then again it only appeared that Katie had found two of them, that wasn’t too bad. She would be long gone before the repercussions of this become truly public.

The Athena was a repurposed hospital ship that had been refitted for laboratory work. She had three separate helipads on her decks and multiple layers for lab space. It was the limiting factor of space that forced them onto land to undertake their macro studies, it was a temporary base until they set up at their new location on land again.

“Very good, we need to get my daughter out of here and with us in the helicopter.”

*

Katie exited the lift at the lowest floor level in the basement and made a dash for Lauren's testing area at the end of the corridor, she bent over double as she ran below the half height lab and office windows; not wanting to draw any attention.

She paused at the door and suddenly realised that the macro team would be in there running tests on Lauren.

"Shit," she muttered under her breath.

Then her eyes fell on a fire alarm switch on the wall.

She hadn't had time to work out what the fire strategy was if the alarm was activated. She would just have to try it.

Her eyes darted around the corridor. There was another panel half way down and another at the end.

All of them had a fire extinguisher mounted on the wall below them. She glanced at the panel close to her, it had a protective screen.

She ran to the middle panel, ducking under the windows as she passed under.

She lifted the fire extinguisher from the wall mount and hoisted it above her shoulder, pointing the end at the panel and with as much force as possible she slammed the end into the fire panel. There was a loud clang of metal and a crunch of plastic cracking.

The screen shattered and the bottom half of the panel sheared off, but it worked. The fire alarm sounded, a deafening klaxon pounded at her eardrums. She put her hands to her ears. It was such a powerful and shocking sound that it disorientated her.

Her heart thumped in her head. She now had seconds. She put the slightly dented extinguisher back on the mount. Wincing as the klaxon continued to blare.

She ran back to the double door and slammed the other fire extinguisher into the panel and put it back on the wall.

Better safe than sorry.

Hopefully two alarm panels being set off would force a full evacuation. She didn't have a clue if it would work.

She head the laboratory door click open behind her and she reacted by swiping her card against the maglock and slamming her body into the double doors.

It worked. Although she hadn't needed to swipe as the fire alarm deactivated the door magnetic locks. Useful to know, it must be a safety fail safe.

She heard people rushing behind her, hopefully not in her direction. She didn’t have time to check.

Katie dashed down the metal staircase, her feet vibrating and ringing on the steps.

The klaxon was just as loud in the large hangar-sized space. The lighting had changed and flashed with every sound of the alarm.

She looked at the huge full height curtain. It swayed slightly, someone was opening the cut-out door at the bottom.

She panicked, her eyes scanned for cover. She saw it. A stationary and unmanned forklift truck was about twenty feet away.

She made a mad dash for it and slid onto her side. She glided down behind it and laid still on her side.

She panted heavily from the sudden exertion. Adrenaline was thundering around her body now, her senses were more acute as fight or flight was activating through her body.

She was up for fighting this time, there was no running from Lauren, she would not abandon her to this torture.

Several scientists could be heard loudly exchanging outside the curtain. She got the gist of it between fire alarm klaxons.

They were deliberating over investigating or evacuation. Perfectly natural and they sounded pissed-off about the interruption to their work.

She glanced down between the wheels of the forklift truck and could see three pairs of feet scuttling past and towards the metal staircase.

She watched them climb up the stairs, wrapping herself around the forklift, hoping they didn't look back and see her. She sneaked to the opposite side and looked at the curtain. It was clear.
If there were three gone, that must mean that at least three were left on the other side.

Shit.

She had no time left to spare. She couldn’t wait any longer.

She ran at the curtain and tore her way through the doorway. She burst through the fabric curtain doorway, panting on the other side.

Lauren looked over at her, wide eyed and concern on her face.

They were pulling probes and sensors off her body. There were four scientists and technicians.

Katie and Lauren exchanged a silent look, Lauren realised what must have happened, seeing the panic on Katie's face, she decoded it instantly; they had to get out of here now.

One of the technicians glanced over at her.

"Can you give us a hand packing the sensitive equipment in the fire proof locker," he gestured over to her with the instruction.

Katie was surprised that they weren't shouting at her to get out or calling Doctor Cook. Either she hadn't told them or with the urgency of the fire alarm they didn't care.

"Is it a drill?" One of the other scientists looked over at her. She looked at her and considered for a split second. She was busted anyway, in for a penny in for a pound.

"No, there's a serious fire, we need to evacuate now!" She shouted at them.

All four of them looked at her, pausing for a second.

"Where is the fire?" One of them asked. Katie shrugged irritably, pausing thinking about the right answer to this fictitious fire.

"Does it matter?" She pointed back at the curtain. "There’s loads of smoke out there, we need to get out now, leave everything there isn't time."

Two of the scientists looked at each other and nodded. They tore the remaining probes away from Lauren's skin, she winced slightly.

"Go, I'll help her," Katie urged them, approaching Lauren.

"You're not trained," one of the junior scientists, Katie had never liked, stated matter-of-factly.

Lauren's fist arced down like a club on his head. She leant forwards and with a long swipe of her other hand thumped another scientist directly in the face. Both of them fell to the floor unconscious, blood streaming from the face of one of them and pooling on the floor.

"What the..." The remaining scientist shouted back at Lauren, just before receiving a fist to the face. The fist was like a giant club hammer, she didn't have a chance. She fell to her knees and then onto her face.

The technician started to make a dash for the curtain but Lauren grabbed him by the shoulder and tossed him against the wall like a rag doll. He slid down into a heap on the floor.

"Don't worry," Lauren spoke towards Katie, she looked quite relaxed considering, "they're not dead. What the hell is going on, I thought we had a plan… but not today," it was half enquiry half telling off.

"Doctor Cook is onto us, she was about to chuck me out," Lauren took that in silently, wincing at the klaxon from above.

"Well good work, but you don't half make a scene,"

The technician, impossibly, stood up; wavering against the wall.

Both ladies looked over at him in disbelief.

"Shit," Katie shouted as she saw he had a communicator in his hand.

"Subject 18 has gone code red!" He shouted at the handset, his forehead streaming blood down his face.

"Uh oh," Katie looked up at Lauren. The large woman was striding towards the cowering man. He dropped the communicator and put his hands up in the air.

"I'm sorry!" He quivered looking up at the giant woman in terror.

"No you're not!" Lauren growled at him. "You little shit, you knew exactly what you were doing," she looked back at Katie.

"Prep the growth serum tank," she instructed.

"But..."

"Just do it, we have no time to argue!" Lauren blared at her and then looked back at the tech.

He was making a run for the curtain.

Katie compiled with the instructions, in the corner of her eye the glorious large woman took three giant bounds after the man, disappearing from her vision.

Lauren reached outwards with her foot and slammed it against the man's back. Knocking him forwards with an oof! As his lungs expelled their air; from the impact.

The foot continued, pinning him to the floor.

He screamed as it crushed down on him, not enough to crush bones but enough to badly bruise him.

"Did you start a fire?" Lauren asked over her shoulder, watching Katie manhandle the giant tube connecting to the growth serum tank.

"There’s no fire," she panted back, "I just set off the alarm,"

"Good stuff," Lauren looked back at the man, lifting her foot off his back, he rolled over and tried to crawl away with a yelp of fear as she held one of his ankles with her hand.

"You're not going anywhere Mr, sorry about this but you kind of brought it on yourself," Lauren spoke down towards him.

She could see Katie approaching her as she lifted her hand up in a chopping motion, her other hand holding both feet together. She dropped her hand at speed and with force.

The poor man wailed in pain and distress.

Katie winced hearing the bones in his legs snap under the force of the chop. Lucky for him it wasn't hard enough to separate his legs, just snap them.

Katie looked up at Lauren, with a pained expression. They hadn't planned on hurting anyone, but yet here they were.

Katie primed the giant needle and Lauren gently took it from her and inserted it into the underside of her forearm by her elbow.

"Check its clear out there, this is going to take a few minutes," Lauren opened the valve and dark liquid flowed through the clear plastic pipe and into her arm.

Katie dashed towards the curtain.

"Should I inject myself with it as well?" Katie asked over her shoulder.

"No!" Lauren snapped back quickly, "it will kill you; you haven't prepared your body. Nobody survives it being directly administered before being primed for weeks."

Katie peeked out of the curtain.

"All clear!" She shouted back.

"Good," Lauren muttered, sitting on her backside, allowing the liquid to enter her body. "I need to lie down for a bit."

Katie nodded.

"Are you going to be okay?" She asked.

"I hope so, it's already starting to work," she winced and creased her forehead.

"Does it hurt?"

"Yes, it's like I'm on fire inside," Lauren replied with a pained voice.

"You shouldn't do this, there will be another way," Katie pleaded, stepping towards the pipework.

"No, we've got to get clear, we've only got one chance," Lauren's head moved to look at Katie as the serum of growth formula and bone and muscle growth accelerant continued to enter her bloodstream.

Katie was in awe as she watched Lauren start to grow, it was subtle at first, blink and miss it, but when she focused on one part of Lauren's body she could see it stretching and expanding in size. She bet if she got close enough she would hear the skin stretching and growing.

"It's working," Katie shouted in elation.

"I know," Lauren ground through her teeth, biting back the pain. "Grab the 217 and 230 cases over there, it's got the shrinking and growth formulas, we can reverse engineer it once we're out of here. Also grab that laptop over there,"

She rolled onto her side, clutching her chest, and her face was screwed up, in agony.

Katie got hold of the equipment as instructed and returned to Lauren's side.

The large woman was still growing, it looked incredibly painful but she was internalising all of it. She was breathing heavily and slowly but with great discipline. It looked like she was meditating. Her eyes were focused on a distant corner of the large testing hall.

She was clearly very strong of mind, she had incredible willpower and strength to withstand the amount of pain she must be going through.

She had been told that this kind of growth was supposed to be undertaken over a few weeks or even months. This instantaneous growth was bound to have repercussions.

Katie gently placed a hand on Lauren's forearm, to let her know that she was there and supporting her if she could. She wanted to hug her to comfort her but Lauren was too big. The giant arm was shaking, Lauren was emitting a haunting rasping moan from her mouth.

Voices echoed from beyond the curtain causing Katie to spin in that direction. Lauren continued to focus on her pain, hunching forwards, her giant arms rose and fell above and to the side of Katie.

Katie was now concentrating on the intrusion, her eyes hunted for ideas on what to do if people approached them. She didn’t know if she could rely on Lauren in this state.

The voices quietened down, she could hear the occasional abrupt voice, possibly issuing instructions, a crackle of radios and then silence, including the fire alarm sounder; which also abruptly stopped.

Lauren's shaking continued and her moaning was the only sound in the large testing area.

Then there was a loud mechanical clink from high above, it sounded like it was from the top of the curtain.

The huge curtain dropped from the metal framed ceiling. The fabric rattled and billowed as it fell to the floor, crumpling on itself, with a grinding sound of the fabric rubbing on itself.

The metal rail and rings clattered to the floor very loudly, it was a distraction, but Katie was not focusing on the curtain, she was looking directly at the line of black clad people standing behind the crumpled curtain.

Katie froze, her heart pounding in her throat and ears. Her face felt hot.

They were armed security and were pointing various weapons in her and Lauren's direction. They were spread out in a line and in a defensive stance with their feet apart and both hands holding guns. Katie didn’t know much about guns so she didn’t know how deadly these were, but they looked the part.

The surprise in their voices and their own hesitation almost acted like a play button for Katie. Her body managed to unfreeze itself from the shock of seeing all those armed people.

She felt a strong vibration in the concrete floor and felt and heard a deep thud slightly behind her.

She half turned to get Lauren's attention.

The giantess was already aware and ponderously bringing herself to her hands and knees. She was still breathing heavily.

Katie was taken aback at how large Lauren suddenly was; lying on the ground had not given her size the justice or perspective it had deserved. The woman now towered over Katie.

Her test gown was ripped all over and one of the shoulders had disconnected from the main torso of the material. The rest clung very tightly around her midsection.

The giantess was clumsily raising her body to being supported on her hands and knees. She looked like she would be too tall to stand in the large hangar.

The voices behind were nervously chattering to each other and into their radios, seeking instructions.

"Doctor Estrange," one of them finally elevated his voice and projected it to Lauren, "please stand down and we will provide you with medical assistance, you should not be this size."

Lauren didn't reply.

She groaned as she bent and brought her other knee to the floor, with a loud thud. She glared out towards the intruders and focused on them with a piercing and predatory stare.

The look caused most of them to instantaneously take a few steps backwards as if she had instantly forced her will on them. All of them were wisely not pointing their weapons at the large giantess.

An armoured 4x4 vehicle raced into the hangar from the direction of the loading bay. The large doors were now open.

Lauren didn't hesitate. With immense speed, considering the pain she must be in, she lurched forwards on all fours, taking two steps each, bringing herself within arms’ reach of the security team.

"Don't shoot her," the leader shouted as some weapons were raised. "Rubber rounds and tasers only, but only on my orders,"

Lauren leant back on her heels and lowered herself to look at the small people. Katie couldn't tell how tall she was but she was definitely more than twice the size she had been, that made her around twenty foot tall at least.

"Get out of my way," Lauren growled at them.

Worried faces looked to their commander for instructions. He was looking directly up at the giantess considering his limited options.

"Doctor, please stand down, we are here to help you," he shouted up to her.

"Firstly, I'm big, I'm not deaf," she replied, "secondly those guns don't look like they will help me,"

"Okay," he put his hands up and let his weapon fall back on its sling and it fell behind his spine and hung there. "No weapons, see?" He said and the rest of his team followed suit.

"If you want to help me, help me get some fresh air," Lauren spoke down to him, propping her body up on the heels of her hands.

Katie admired her giant breasts that were pressing tightly beneath the material.

"We can bring in a tank of fresh air…" he started.

"No!" she boomed, "I've been cooped up here like a test animal, I want real fresh air, outside," she started to rise from her heels, then she jolted forwards unintentionally, wincing in pain as a fresh wave of painful symptoms hit her. It looked like it ran through her spine as it caused her back to arch.

That spooked some of the men, causing them to regain their weapons and point them at her face.

"Get those things away from me!" She extended her right hand out, curling her middle finger under her thumb and pointed it at the closest guard who was standing with an aggressive stance.

He looked directly at the giant hand, it was about half the size of his whole body.

She must be bigger than twenty foot! Katie thought to herself.

The man was too late to react, the giant finger flicked out, straight into his chest. It knocked him into the air, several yards back, his arms pin wheeling and legs flew open in the air.

He hit the floor hard and then spun into an uncontrolled backward roll, collapsing in a heap, winded.

"Doctor, no, stand down!" the leader tried to instruct the angry giantess.

"Don't you boss me around, I've had enough of you," she reached down and flicked him too. It sent him flying.

Then all hell broke loose. Muzzles were pointed at her and weapons fired rubber bullets at her.

Lauren jerked back in pain, her body convulsing and juddering slightly as a series of Taser prongs flew out and engaged her skin. She guarded her face with one giant hand and swiped hard from side-to-side with her other hand.

Her waving hand slapped into several men, sending them sprawling and yelping in surprise. Her hand and arm was so big they couldn’t evade it.

Most of them withdrew, walking backwards quickly, as they fired.

The 4x4 drove forwards diagonally to one side of her, at speed. The large cannon mounted to the roof swivelled towards her firing large metal prongs with cables attached to them.

Katie assumed it was some kind of giant taser weapon. There was a trailer on the back of the 4x4 with what looked like a large battery on it.

Lauren swiped the prongs away in mid-air, deflecting them to clatter on the floor, and lunged forwards.

She slapped her palm down on the bonnet of the car, with a loud crunch, her fingers curled around the sides of the bonnet clutching it tightly. The car stopped dead.

The occupants looked out the window, wide eyed, the wheels screeched as they spun, trying to push against her hand but to no effect. It just generated smoke, and shortly after a strong smell of burning rubber.

The rear of the vehicle started to swerve as it fought against the strength of the giant woman.

She didn't seem to be exerting much effort, but her arm was outstretched and locked, holding the car in place.

Lauren suddenly brought her other hand across and used it to pick up the 4x4, using the other hand to support it. The occupants could be heard screaming.

She barely acknowledged them as she threw the vehicle to the side against a far wall.

The vehicle slammed into the wall, crushing the non-lethal roof mounted weapon and then the vehicle landed on its bonnet on the ground, leaning against the wall. The wheels were still spinning.

The remaining men started splitting up into fire teams thumping automatic rubber bullets out at Lauren from all directions.

Katie hid behind Lauren as closely as she could. There was nothing she could do to help.

Lauren defended her face as she reached out with her other hand like a claw and grabbed at men.

They shouted as she grabbed one or two of them at a time and tossed them against walls to either side. She grabbed at anything, legs, arms, mid sections and shoulders.

She seemed to be holding back from throwing them at full power. She was just clearing the pests away from her path. Trying to shake them up and stop the torrent of rubber bullets.

She lifted herself up to a crouch and stepped forwards, kicking her foot into a fire team of men. Her foot connected with the group of them, scattering and sending them flying like a group of skittles.

She lifted one man up in her giant hand, he wailed in protest, still firing at her as he was trying to hit sensitive areas.

She threw him hard into one of the two remaining fire teams, they sprawled in a heap, tangled together.

Lauren made a beeline for the last fire team of four men.

She pulled her arm back to one side and took one long hard swipe. The giant forearm and outstretched hand slapped them and sent them flying against the wall on the other side.

Lauren ignored all of the sprawled and moaning bodies and made for the hangar sized doorway leading to the exit.

Katie scuttled after her. She wanted to ask how she was feeling but it didn't look like the right time to ask.

Lauren was red-faced and snorting with fury, she was breathing heavily now from the exertion. There were red blotches on her skin in various areas where the hail of rubber bullets had pounded her.

Lauren clutched at the sides of the door frame, pushing at the doors and clambered through, crouching and half crawling through the door. She only just fit through.

Katie followed and they found themselves in another bay, full of racking and crates, storage tanks, equipment and vehicles.

There was another larger door on the opposite side. It was the only door.

Lauren made for it and pushed on the door.

The metal doors rattled but didn't open.

Katie could hear voices shouting on the other side of the door.

"Can you smash us through?" Katie asked up at Lauren from the side.

The larger woman looked down at her. Katie was suddenly scared of her new friend. Her eyes were wide, alert and full of adrenaline and anger.

There was a slight softening as she beheld Katie and then her eyes reverted to sharp and alert as they looked around for inspiration.

A few seconds later the doors burst open, crumpled in on the inside. Lauren discarded the high loader vehicle, which she had used as a ram; with a clatter and crash.

A hail of rubber bullets zipped through the open doorway, like several swarms of angry bees, pelting Lauren and creating welts all over her legs.

Lauren roared in anger and ripped at the gown that was restraining her. She was now completely naked, but seemed to be less constrained.

She half-filled the huge doorway with her outstretched palm. Her other hand reached out and wrenched one of the doors clean off its hinges with a loud metallic grinding crunch and snap.

She turned the door on its side and threw it at the group of shooters like a Frisbee.

The action caught them completely unawares and the door slammed into them at speed. It must have caused quite significant injuries as they were all unconscious and unmoving.

Lauren looked ahead, Katie joined her.

Just like the fire strategy drawing, the loading bay was connected to a wide Tarmac underground tunnel rising upwards at an incline angle, with a vaulted ceiling consisting of mounted lighting, services cabling, and ceiling mounted ventilation impulse fans.

Lauren had to crawl in the tunnel, but at least they could see daylight at the long end of the tunnel, it was at least five hundred metres away.

Lauren wrenched off the other door as a mobile shield, a good idea if there were more attackers.

*

As they started to near the brow of the tunnel, the top of the exit doors came into view. Lauren froze in place causing Katie to stumble into the back of her large heel and calf. She rebounded and took a few steps back, waiting.

Katie suddenly heard shouts and then the chatter of automatic rifles. Another hail of bullets zipped out at Lauren and she roared angrily as she charged as fast as she could in a half crouch, half hobble.

Lauren pressed her free hand on the side of the tunnel to help move her through the tunnel quickly.

The tunnel ceiling was the only limiting factor to her now, her shoulders occasionally smashed an impulse fan or lights causing them to short out and some swung loose and dangled from cables, with sparks flying through the air like fireflies.

Lauren held the hangar door ahead of her like a shield as she charged forwards.

Katie darted after her but kept a safe distance. She heard metallic clanks as the door made contact.

There were sharp shouts and the gunfire started to retreat and the echo grew more distant.

Lauren proceeded forwards making rapid progress.

It wasn't long before Katie was stepping over bodies. Many of them were injured and groaning, heads and hands bloodied. Some limbs were contorted in unnatural angles. A few were not moving.

Katie didn't blame Lauren in the slightest. They shouldn't have been imprisoning their own test subject in the first place, let alone a scientist and one of their own colleagues. Especially someone as brave enough as to volunteer for the tests in the first instance.

Katie waded through the heaped bodies. There was a crashing sound up ahead. The road was levelling out and Katie could see the tunnel exit. Very large doors marked the tunnel exit.

Lauren was lying on her buttocks, she had managed to half turn herself to bring one of her legs out.

She withdrew her thick thigh back, bending her knee, and then kicked out against the door. The guards must have shut it when Lauren charged them, a last ditch effort to keep her captive inside.

The doors rattled heavily as they were kicked hard. There was a metallic crunching and screech of the metal hinges protesting.

Lauren gave it another kick and one of the doors flew clean off and skittered away. The other swung open with a loud bang. Daylight flooded in.

A hail of rubber bullets and more large taser prongs came forth from the exit. Some of them made contact with Lauren's shin and her naked body writhed.

She yelled in anger kicking outwards again, trying to turn herself back. She was too big to turn in the tunnel.

She picked up the large metal door and flung it outwards over her hips. There was a loud crunch, Katie couldn't see what was happening, she heard a vehicles’ engine close by.

Lauren reached forwards and smashed out at something with clubbed fists.

It resulted in a loud crunch, it sounded like she had slammed a vehicle.

Lauren reached the mouth of the exit which was slightly wider and crawled forwards, ducking through the open doorway and nudging the distressed and crumpled vehicle over to the side.

Then she lifted the vehicle up and threw it hard into the rear of another vehicle; that was turning around to gain some distance.

Both vehicles crunched together and tumbled. One of them caught fire and plumes of black smoke were already billowing outwards.

Katie choked into her elbow as she pushed forwards through the smoke.

Lauren lunged out again. Between her giant legs Katie could see that Lauren was slamming her hands straight into the front of a large truck.

She was in awe at the sheer strength and anger of Lauren. She hoped that they could now escape without any further hindrance.

Hoisting her bag with the serums and laptop with confidential information Katie doggedly followed the path of destruction.
