Wakfu Amalia, Eva and Tristepin (Patreon)

Here is my first line/tone illustration picked from the Patreon character request pool. For this I chose Amalia, Evangelyne and Tristepin from Wakfu. With Yugo turning Amalia down in season 3, someone had to give her the attention she needs. Certainly her best friend Evangelyne would be willing to lend her some assistance...or at least lend her someone that can give her what she needs.

The request chosen was for either Amalia or Eva with Tristepin, but I felt like drawing both because sharing is caring. I had a lot of fun doing the lines, but as with the last one I ended up in a silly battle with dotted screentones. Even starting the canvas at the appropriate size/resolution it still gave me trouble on the export. In the end I decided it wasn't worth any more time and just went with adding texture.

I did end up discovering a good idea to try on the next attempt, which is using a noise pattern tone as opposed to the typical even pattern tones. The issues come with resizing the even patterns and it creating unintended results, so having an irregular pattern should resolve that on its own. I'll try one more piece later to try that out, and if it doesn't work out I'll likely stick with texture. Once the decision is made I'll try doing more advanced tone stuff than just flats.

I'm not sure exactly regarding Amalia's pants, but it appears they have random wicker patterns on them, so I imagine they're some kind of plant-like material. This makes sense given she's from a race of plant people that control plants. That's why I had the pants tear in the weird way they do. Also, Tristepin has super thin legs, but that seems to be canon for him, at least in the references I could quickly Google.
