Content

For the next few weeks we are working together to bring you all some free collaborative content for your Theros / Greek campaigns, with maps drawn by The MAD Cartographer for some key locations introduced in the Mythic Odysseys of Theros campaign book, and brought to life with some ambient sounds by me.

We are both individually making content for Theros throughout August, but for this collaboration we have teamed up to provide everyone with four completely free maps and ambiences.

This week we are working together to bring our first two scenes to life:

Abora Market of Setessa - The Abora Market is a giant, open-air market just inside the main Eastern gate of Setessa, a polis where buildings and nature fuse together seamlessly. Every day the market is thronged with citizens buying and selling food, crafts, and curiosities. The most impressive part of the market is the raptor hall, where falconers show off the trained raptors available for sale.

Forest Shrine - Forest shrines honoring Nylea are found in the woodlands of Theros, where druids and nymphs use magic to create structures with the natural elements; secluded groves are dotted around the shrine, the sound of wind chimes and distant owls bring a tranquillity, and all around bushes are sculpted into the shape of woodland creatures that can come to life to protect the shrine if needed.

These first two scenes will be released the week commencing 17th August,... but we need two more scenes to add to our free release, and we want both of our patrons to vote on the two scenes we should work on next. Voting will take place all this week giving us the chance to start working on the ambiences and maps from the 17th to release them week of the 24th August.  At the end of the week we'll tally up the results of both of our polls and announce which maps we'll be working on!

So here are your options:

Fields of Oreskos - Large open plains, Savannah like in nature the mighty Leonin nomads set up their camp preparing for their hunt. The buzzing of insects and the long draw out cries of cranes can be heard, the galloping sounds of herds of roaming cattle like creatures and the beat of a tribal drum.

Flamespeaker Shrine - Situated outside of the polis itself, higher up into the volcanoes of the Katachthon Mountains themselves, old lands where dark magic holds sway and dragons are the ultimate rulers. The sounds of resonant chanting/prayers echo across the landscape, the heavy sound of braziers burning and torches flickering in the wind. The sound of forges/anvil work being performed in the distance, as the shrines are built in dedication to the God of the Forge, Purphoros.

Dakra Isles - The sound of a creaking ship, oars rowing whilst their crew chant in unison, water cloaked cries, heavy winds and even rolls of thunder. Known as the Isles of Enchantment, these strange waters make it impossible to keep an accurate chart of the islands' positions, which roam as they please.

Phoberos Outposts - Several semipermanent encampments dot the badlands between Akros and the wilds beyond. Fresh cadres of troops come here every month to relieve soldiers who are worn out by relentless assaults from raiders, fire-breathing dragons and other threats. All around the encampment the barking of orders, the calls of platoons and the endless marching and drills of the soldiers rings off the mountain passes.

We both look forward to making these scenes for you all, and in the mean time why not go check out TheMADCartographer's Patreon :  https://www.patreon.com/themadcartographer
