I arrived in Austin Friday afternoon, planted myself on a bus seat, was transported downtown, ran to a different bus stop, and arrived at my first shoot about an hour later. After a shoot today with Reverend Bobby Anger, I had a long talk with him and his partner about traveling, art, photographs, the evolution of his interesting pseudonym, and moving pictures - we shot material for short films as well. Moving pictures versus film versus video is a strange topic it turns out. The largest bowl of congee I've ever eaten later, I was deposited at "home" - home for this week anyway. A large pull out bed topped with quilts and pillows. I discovered an email from a photographer I recently worked with (who will go unnamed), and there was a folder of attached photos I proceeded to go through. Sometimes, during a shoot, through the process of natural movements and positioning, I can be vulnerable - especially as a nude model. Specifically, what I mean by that, is that certain areas end up a bit more exposed than I'd like and what I have to trust is that someone won't snap a quick close, high resolution shot of my crotch - as an example. Unfortunately this is exactly what I found in the folder of photos - a very close cropped photo of my labia, and I don't think I've recently been so thankful for my pretty decent hair coverage in that area. This is a weird subject for me...on the one hand, there are some more "open" photos of me - generally always take from far away with a Polaroid camera and I have veto power over these being shown - and the photographers ask. This photo I saw today...I was not asked for, was taken without my permission, and quite frankly I don't even remember it being taken. It is, simply, a close cropped photo of my crotch and I can't for the life of my understand how, when, or why the photographer would take it. There isn't even artistic merit to the photo. I'm going to stop whining now, I'm promise. But it made me sad. In terms of happy things that happened today, I had a lovely shoot and conversation, a wonderful conversation with my host here in Austin, a piece of pumpkin pie, and a lot of nice coffee. So it's okay okay okay I hope you are all having a wonderful start to your month and that you too have seen at least one silly holiday decoration on your walks about - for me it was a life-size abominable snowman.

I admit a hole in my knowledge - how large is "life-sized" for an abominable snowman ? My guess would be - larger than a large human - but maybe I am just uninformed ? Perhaps the are abominable for other than size reasons - abomination may come in a small package as well as gigantic looming ones ? Did it have big gnashing teeth ? ~ wishing for less reasons for sadness. be well !
