Chapter 210: Are We Going to Fight or Not?

After quickly reviewing the information shared by Lolan, the expressions of Matthew and his companions became solemn.

The Black Dragon, empowered by the Five Dragon Forces, now possessed the strength of a quasi-legendary figure.

As the top species in the food chain, quasi-legendary dragons might wield even more devastating power than ordinary legendary creatures of other species.

Of course,

This does not include legendary mages.

It's widely known

That mages are the most destructive "race," bar none.

"With four additional young dragons, theoretically, it shouldn't be that terrifying," Matthew was the first to speak, trying to reassure, "As long as we can avoid being overwhelmed and causing significant trouble for ourselves, if we can take them down one by one, we still stand a fair chance."

What he said wasn't wrong.

Young dragons are generally not as powerful as adult dragons, although the Black Dragon, Meionogas, is clearly an exception.

Otherwise, he wouldn't have been able to join the Five Dragon Alliance as a young dragon among adults.

The hierarchy in dragon society is also very strict.

As followers of Meionogas, the other four young chromatic dragons must be one tier lower than Meionogas.

Matthew estimated their level to be at most around sixteen or seventeen.

The Special Operations Team did have a fighting chance against them.

However, he also had concerns.

Meionogas' strength had greatly increased, and he evidently had the divine blessing of the Dragon God, Brook, behind him.

Whether the dragon-slaying spear could have the expected decisive effect remained unknown.

They had to treat the war with the dragons even more cautiously.

"Taking them down individually is indeed a method, but the dragons' size is too large, and their resilience is also strong. Do we have any means to restrain a few of them?" Zeller consulted the group.

At this moment, the other members of the Special Operations Team were also gathered around.

Upon hearing this,

Everyone fell into silence.

Attempting to restrain dragons would undoubtedly entail great risks; on one hand, there was the danger to their own safety, and on the other hand, the risk of the plan failing due to a flaw in the restraint.

Although everyone here was skilled,

No one could guarantee that they could definitely accomplish this task.

After a few minutes passed,

Lumiere finally scratched his head and said, "Why don't I give it a try?"

"I can try to restrain that Black Dragon. I've battled with Tyrant Lizards in the jungle before; their size and appearance are similar to the Black Dragon's, though they might be slightly weaker in strength. But now that I've grown stronger, I should be able to hold my own, right?"

Matthew looked pensive.

Richard said solemnly, "Restraining dragons is a very difficult task. I can assure my own escape from the pursuit of a dragon, but I'm not sure if I can firmly hold the opponent's attention on myself. We can't ignore the dragons' intelligence; their judgment on the battlefield is quite keen. A slight mistake could lead to casualties on our side."

With his words,

Everyone fell into silence once again.

After a while,

Someone finally stepped forward:

"Then let me do it."

Lolan patted the short flute at his waist and said casually, "I have a melody that can restrain some of the dragons, but the cost is that after playing this tune, I might not be of much help for a while."

Matthew looked at him earnestly, "Can you do it alone?"

Lolan smiled, "Don't underestimate legends."

Richard sniffed, his expression somewhat complicated.

Lolan patted his shoulder, "Sorry, considering your pride, I should say don't underestimate demigods."

Richard retorted irritably, "I know my abilities are not very useful when dealing with creatures like dragons. You don't need to be sarcastic; if you want to mock, you can do it directly."

Lolan burst into laughter at his words, "Don't worry, Mr. Silver Snake, we are now on the same front. I won't easily ridicule you."

"Although you're not very useful, at least in terms of the internal struggle of the human legendary figures, I still appreciate the prestige of your wanderers!"

Richard's face turned livid, and he didn't want to say another word.

From the moment they met, it seemed that the two of them didn't get along.

Snide remarks between them were common.

Seeing this, Matthew wanted to ease the tension.

But Zeller had already spoken:

"If you are ready to confront those five dragons, I will arrange for a crossbow team and two cavalry teams to provide support for you."

"In addition to this, we may need to change our strategy. Rhaegar, to ensure that the Special Operations Team doesn't get ambushed, our main force must also intercept the enemy halfway. And if possible, we should try to directly eliminate the remaining forces of the Highleaf Territory, including those tough nuts."

Rhaegar nodded seriously.

The "tough nuts" mentioned by Zeller naturally referred to the bear goblins and half-orcs of the Highleaf Territory.

The reason Rolling Stone Town chose a defensive strategy was actually to minimize casualties as much as possible.

But plans can't keep up with changes.

If they waited until the five dragons combined forces with the frontal troops and forcefully attacked the mountain, it would be very difficult for Rolling Stone Town to hold on.

To avoid this situation,

They had to adapt on the fly, transitioning from defense to offense.

While Matthew and his team were intercepting the dragons,

They would also engage in close combat with the Highleaf Territory's army.

That, too, would be an extremely brutal war.

Fortunately, they had contingency plans for this situation as well.

After discussing for a while,

Matthew and his team each made their decision.

A moment later.

Rega firmly grasped Matthew's shoulder and said solemnly:

"Don't hold back, no matter what."

Matthew paused for a moment, then nodded:

"I understand."

They exchanged a heavy handshake.

A few minutes later.

Soldiers on the southwestern slope saw a small group of people and horses slip down to the foot of the mountain.

By the stream.

They mounted their phantom steeds and quickly disappeared among the northern hills.

Soon after.

The soldiers received orders to suspend the construction of defensive works.

All forces began to assemble.

Scouts and scouts were the first to mobilize.

They tracked the true retreat path of the Highleaf army at the fastest speed, risking great danger.

And others were also gearing up.

To the northwest of the Sentinel Mountain.

The centaur Omodochi mingled among the undead army.

His expression was stiff.

But with the command authority he obtained from the graveyard ceremony.

Omodochi could still barely control these undead.

For this, he had to concentrate as he had never done before.

And he was not a necromancer after all.

The authority Matthew gave him only allowed this army to repeatedly switch between attack, defense, and standby options.

But even so.

This undead army played a crucial role on the front lines.

The orders Matthew gave him were clear.

As long as they could save the life of one soldier in Rolling Stone Town, even if it cost ten or even twenty undead, it would be acceptable.

This order reassured Omodochi.

But it also increased his pressure.

He did not know what kind of battle he would face.

But all he could do.

Was to do his best to protect the main forces of Rolling Stone Town.

To the northeast of the Sentinel Mountain.

Also on the hillside.

Two people who were packing suddenly felt a sense of foreboding and looked northward.

They saw the team of phantom steeds heading north.

Suddenly.

Peggy said to Obeest:

"You go back, I need to go north."

Obeest was surprised:

"But Mr. Alan just told us to go south."

Peggy insisted:

"No, I have to go north."

Obeest scratched his head:

"Alright, you're Peggy, Mr. Alan can't control you."

Peggy stared northward without speaking.

Obeest keenly sensed something unusual:

"Peggy, what's wrong?"

Peggy collected herself:

"That direction, there's a voice calling me, I must go."

Obeest was curious:

"Is it Mr. Matthew?"

Peggy shook her head:

"No, it's not, Matthew would only want me to stay in a safe place."

"That voice, it's different, it used to only appear in my dreams."

Obeest was full of admiration:

"No wonder you're Peggy, a skeleton who dreams, that's so cool!"

Then he looked flattering:

"Peggy, why don't you take me with you?"

Peggy decisively shook her head:

"You're still young, you should stay in a safer place."

"Go find Alan and tell him where I'm going, so he won't worry."

Obeest was a little disappointed:

"Peggy, why do you always reject me and never want to take me anywhere!"

"Is it because you think I'm different from you?"

"But when I die someday, I'll become a little skeleton and follow you every day."

Peggy grabbed his shoulder, growling angrily:

"Brat, stop talking nonsense!"

"Being alive is better than anything else, understand?!"

Obeest was frightened by her attitude.

So he quickly lowered his head:

"I'm sorry, Peggy, I just think it's cool to be a skeleton like you..."

"And you don't have to eat, which saves a lot of money at home."

"Don't worry, I'll definitely live well, um, Peggy?"

When the young Obeest looked up again.

He was astonished to find that the tall and solemn figure was no longer around.

Obeest felt a pang of disappointment.

"Ah, Peggy is still rejecting me after all, but do you know, being by your side gives me a sense of security."

He murmured as he left.

Until his figure disappeared from the mountain path.

The figure of the minotaur skeleton flashed by.

A moment later.

She began to stride northward at a swift pace!

...

In the mossy green hills to the north.

On a huge altar.

Judgment 09 found it hard to control his body, his arms and legs trembling uncontrollably.

This was not because of fear.

It was the pressure from the top of the food chain.

The might of dragons.

Although the most powerful black dragon, Meionogas, was quite restrained.

But the four younger dragons he summoned from the secondary plane were imposing.

Those four young dragons not only exuded their own majesty madly.

Around them, 20 guards quickly appeared!

These guards varied in tactics.

The guards of the young blue dragon were a group of iron-clad puppets;

The guards of the young red dragon were a group of strong mutant lizardmen;

The guards of the young green dragon were a group of spitting snake people;

And the entourage of the white dragon was a bunch of crooked and cracked goblins.

From the number and quality of the guards, it was not difficult to discern the strength of these four young dragons.

And their size also indirectly confirmed this.

Judgment 09's chest heaved violently.

He witnessed with his own eyes the activation of the covenant of the Five Dragon Alliance through the pre-arranged altar, which then opened the gate to the secondary plane.

He should have reported this situation in a timely manner.

But he was overwhelmed by the might of the dragons.

He couldn't even move!

It wasn't until the black dragon finished its business that he barely regained control of his body.

He exclaimed loudly, "Wait, you can't act immediately, I must report..."

Before he could finish his words, they turned into an involuntary scream!

Because in that instant, a huge head lunged towards him!

It was the young red dragon!

He pressed his massive head against the chest of Judgment 09, and a large amount of saliva flowed from his teeth, instantly forming a stream.

"Let me eat you before you report, how about that? Hehehe..."

Before the young red dragon could finish his sentence, an even larger figure slammed into him from the side.

The huge dragon head violently flipped the red dragon's head and upper body sideways.

The latter fell somewhat embarrassedly to the side.

For a moment, the earth shook.

"You can't eat him! You idiot!"

The black dragon, Meionogas, warned.

The young red dragon complained angrily, "Why?"

"Because of Suerel!"

"This isn't a secondary plane where you can do as you please!"

"There's a creature here called Suerel!"

When that name was uttered from the black dragon's mouth, the resentful red dragon suddenly lost the desire to argue.

He gently lowered his head.

His hind legs began to tremble uncontrollably.

"Remember! Suerel!"

The black dragon continued to roar in his ear.

The lower half of the red dragon's body trembled even more violently!

Not only did the young red dragon react like this, but the other three young dragons also seemed uncomfortable.

Seeing this scene, Judgment 09 seemed suddenly immune to the dragon's aura, and he proudly straightened his chest.

It turned out that the name of Lord Suerel had a similar effect on the dragons as calming a crying child.

Seeing the dragons so afraid, he immediately felt less frightened.

And at this moment, Meionogas was still lecturing the young dragons:

"This is the main material world, everything must be done according to the rules!"

"Dragons who don't follow the rules will encounter Suerel!"

"Do you understand?!"

The four young dragons nodded obediently.

"Don't attack the mages of the Seven Saints Alliance at will!"

"Because they are allied with Suerel!"

"Do you understand?!"

The black dragon continued his admonition.

The young dragons could only reluctantly nod.

"I'll hit whoever I want, and you follow along, don't act on your own!"

"Understand?!"

The black dragon continued to assert his authority.

At this moment, the young dragons were a little impatient.

In the process, Judgment 09 had already reported the detailed situation.

After listening to the report, Suerel looked directly at the strange light emanating from the black dragon, his tone still calm:

"This summoning technically still complies with the rules, so I allow it."

"But this battle, you can only summon this once, there can be no second time."

"Do you understand?"

The black dragon was overjoyed:

"I understand!"

"Then go, the war continues."

Suerel walked towards the altar. Judgment 09 asked in surprise, "Where are you going?" Suerel's voice came faintly, "Oh, don't mind me, you do your thing. I just haven't seen an old friend in a long time and planned to have a chat with Baruk." With that, her figure disappeared from the altar.

The black dragon looked somewhat astonished at the scene. He was a thoughtful dragon and understood the significance of this battle for the Seven Saints Alliance and the dragon god Baruk. With the unlocking of the civilization's mystery, the gods of the Heaven's Palace had found a way to project their divine power into the main material world, and the black dragon was one of the beneficiaries. He understood that the gods were trying to regain their influence over the mortal realm, and this war, along with the role of the Five Dragon Alliance, was a test for Baruk.

Through appealing to the dragon god's preferences, the black dragon had gained power far beyond his peers. But he also understood that the Seven Saints Alliance was the true owner of this land. He needed to tread carefully. With this in mind, the black dragon calculated inwardly, "I can crush Rolling Stone Town to pieces, but that necromancer had better be spared. That way, I'll save face for the Seven Saints Alliance. Even if Suerel and Baruk fall out again, they shouldn't dare to come after me."

With these thoughts, the black dragon and his four cohorts spread their wings and flew southward with great momentum!

As they flew, the five dragons skimmed low over the hills, causing the air currents above to tremble violently. Sharp whistles filled the air. But as they flew, a tiny figure suddenly appeared in their line of sight. That figure stood atop a high mound below, alone. His pristine white robes billowed in the fierce wind. For some reason, all five dragons simultaneously lowered their flight altitude. They landed before the mound.

The black dragon watched the solitary figure in puzzlement. There was something inexplicable about the person that attracted him. The four young dragons from the secondary plane also observed the human on the mountaintop with different expressions.

"This person has a bewitching aura," remarked the red dragon.

"Is he a male succubus?" the green dragon asked in confusion.

"His flesh must be delicious," drooled the white dragon.

Finally, the blue dragon stepped forward solemnly and asked, "Who are you?"

The man looked at the blue dragon expressionlessly, his eyes beginning to tear up. "I am a poet."

The blue dragon was puzzled. "Poet, why are you crying?"

The man walked lightly down the slope, strolling casually between the five dragons. His voice carried on the mountain breeze into the dragons' ears, "I am but a worldly man. I lament the fleeting years, mourn the loss of youth. I sigh for all things in the world, which ultimately return to dust; I pity the once-glorious, now turned to ashes; I mourn the majesty of gods, like yesterday's twilight; I grieve for your fate, written in the dust."

The five dragons listened, somewhat befuddled. But except for the white dragon, the others wore pensive expressions. Only the white dragon stood in place, yawning frantically.

"What is he saying?"

"Is he insulting us?"

"Why can't I understand?"

The white dragon loudly asked.

However, the tearful poet paid no heed and continued walking northward. His steps were swift. One step brought him into the clouds, another onto the mountaintop. His voice echoed gently, "Descendants of Brook, heed my words. The fate of the dragon race has long been foretold in the annals of history…"

Moments later, a wonderful flute melody filled the air. All four dragons were entranced by the music. They followed the poet's footsteps and headed northward.

Only the white dragon stood dumbfounded. He stared at the backs of the other dragons and shouted loudly, "Are we still fighting or not?"

As he spoke, a sharp pain suddenly shot through his forehead. When the white dragon turned around, he found a wild-looking fellow had jumped onto his back, pounding his head furiously with fists.

"Hey, you little pest!"

The white dragon roared in anger, about to retaliate.

But the next moment, he saw figures converging on him from all directions, charging like mad dogs!
