Chapter 27

Zhang Ye sat in the driver's seat, turning back to flash a smile at Ling Chunann in the rear seat, "Ah Nan, I didn't expect you to come pick me up. I'm delighted, thank you."

Looking at his manager's false teeth, Ling Chunann returned a sincere smile, "Don't say that. We are partners and old friends for ten years. Picking you up is only natural. Welcome back."

"Oh, by the way, did you watch the DVD I gave you last time?" Ling Chunann fastened his seatbelt, casually asking.

"I did," even though Zhang Ye didn't understand why Ling Chunann would give him those things, he watched some of them out of curiosity. The movie scenes were nauseating, so he watched them by skipping parts. He chuckled, "Didn't expect Ah Nan to take on these kinds of roles."

"Yeah, I've been interested in medicine lately," Ling Chunann glanced at the man with a playful look in his eyes, answering nonchalantly.

Zhang Ye's gaze paused at Ling Chunann's collar, but he didn't say anything, just starting the car.

098: "Host, he noticed the hickeys on you."

Ling Chunann leaned back in the back seat, looking out the window lazily, "His eyesight has always been good."

For some reason, 098 felt that the host had some emotions towards his manager. After all, they started working together when he was ten, and even though they didn't spend every moment together, most of the time they were. Besides, whether it's humans or even animals, there would be emotions after spending such a long time together, especially since Ling Chunann was an orphan without any family.

This time, 098's guess was correct. Even until his death, Ling Chunann never expected his trusted manager to treat him like this.

"It won't take three days," Ling Chunann half-closed his eyes, gazing out of the car window as familiar rows of green trees rushed past.

098 had a foreboding feeling.

It was a very secluded villa, surrounded by lush bamboo groves, with only a small road for entry and exit.

Ling Chunann opened his eyes and looked at his manager, "Where is this?"

"Ah Nan, I recently bought a house here. I wanted to invite you to see it with me." Zhang Ye parked the car, sounding a bit embarrassed, "I saw you seemed to be asleep just now, so I didn't call you and brought you here on my own."

"It's okay," Ling Chunann rubbed his eyes, "The environment here is not bad, but it's a bit remote. Why did you choose to buy a house here?"

"Just like the environment," Zhang Ye smiled, "I actually bought it a while ago, and it was only recently renovated."

098: "Host, this person seems suspicious. Please be careful."

Despite his seemingly normal smile, why did he sound so sinister? Ling Chunann ignored 098, opened the car door, and got out.

The villa was elegantly decorated, with new furniture and decorations since no one had lived there before.

Ling Chunann sat on the sofa, complimenting the living room's decor, and Zhang Ye handed him a cup of tea.

098: "Host, don't drink it; it's drugged."

"Thank you," Ling Chunann casually took the tea and put it on the coffee table, looking up at Zhang Ye, "Did you spend a lot of money on this house? Is your salary enough? If you need any help, just let me know."

"It's enough, thank you," Zhang Ye glanced at the water glass on the coffee table, a dark shade passing through his eyes. Then he stood up with a smile, "Ah Nan, let me take you upstairs."

Ignoring 098's warning, Ling Chunann nodded and walked ahead without any guard.

098 didn't understand what Ling Chunann wanted to do, but the system's rule was not to disturb the host when he was seriously doing a task, so it remained silent.

After touring upstairs, Zhang Ye suggested that Ling Chunann visit his basement. As a young actor who trusted his manager immensely, Ling Chunann naturally agreed.

The basement was deep, and though there was light, the staircase area remained dim. Ling Chunann, holding onto the wall, descended step by step.

098 warned, "Host, please be careful; he has a syringe in his hand."

Ling Chunann's fingers traced the familiar patterns on the wall, a hint of a smile playing on his lips, "Got it, don't worry."

Zhang Ye followed behind Ling Chunann, his gaze struggling. At the moment Ling Chunann's hand touched the doorknob, Zhang Ye's eyes narrowed, and he raised the syringe, plunging it towards Ling Chunann's neck.

"Host, be careful!"

Sure enough, Ling Chunann acted. The smile on his lips faltered as he sidestepped, grabbing the man's wrist and twisting it. In an instant, he snatched the syringe, stabbing it into the man's neck with a swift motion.

Kicking the fallen man, Ling Chunann opened the door to the basement.

It was a completely sealed space, with only a small ventilation opening at the top, about the size of a bowl. The walls were in dark shades, similar to the ones outside the basement corridor. Inside was empty, about ten square meters in size, dimly lit by the corridor's faint light, revealing its emptiness.

Formerly, Ling Chunann ended his life here.

He thought, perhaps until he turned into a skeleton, no one would come to collect his body.

When the anesthetic wore off two hours later, Zhang Ye was astonished to find himself tied up inside the basement he intended to use to confine Ling Chunann.

At that moment, Ling Chunann sat on the floor across from him, staring straight at him. He looked as attractive as ever, with the serious expression that Zhang Ye liked the most. However, at this moment, Zhang Ye felt a chill despite the sight, involuntarily shivering.

"Ah, Ah Nan?" Zhang Ye opened his mouth, feeling that Ling Chunann's current demeanor was very strange.

"Hmm?" Ling Chunann blinked, "What's wrong?"

"You tied me up... What are you doing?" Zhang Ye swallowed nervously.

Ling Chunann smiled, "I just wanted to wait for you to wake up and ask you what you were planning to do."

Upon hearing Ling Chunann's question, Zhang Ye's gaze once again fell on the open collar where Ling Chunann had unbuttoned. Thinking of the man he had seen that day when he secretly visited Ling Chunann's villa, anger surged within him. "You despicable person! After all these years of loving you, you actually hooked up with someone while I was away. I just wanted to lock you up and see if you'd still mess around..."

Watching his manager curse vehemently, Ling Chunann remained expressionless. He slowly rose, standing tall and looking down at him.

Although Ling Chunann's expression was calm, and his eyes showed no emotion, 098 felt a sense of fear. "Host, are you okay?"

Once again, Ling Chunann ignored 098, quietly listening to this man who had always been friendly, now hurling extremely malicious words at him without even catching his breath.

After venting his anger, Zhang Ye finally realized his current situation. With a darkened face, he closed his mouth, and after a long while, managed a forced smile. "I'm sorry, Ah Nan. I got too excited just now. How about you let me go..."

"Are you finished?" Ling Chunann suddenly smiled. He had a surgical knife in his hand, and the sharp blade lightly traced the man's neck. His voice was gentle. "You're done; now it's my turn."

Zhang Ye's attention was completely drawn to the knife in Ling Chunann's hand, his face filled with fear.

098: "Host, what are you planning to do?"

"You've watched those movies, right? Do you want to know what it feels like to eat your own flesh?"

The surgical knife glided across the man's chest, shirt buttons falling to the ground, emitting a faint crisp sound.

Unconsciously, images of bloody scenes from the movies flashed in Zhang Ye's mind. His pupils constricted, and his lips trembled. "No, I don't want to know."

Seemingly not expecting this response, Ling Chunann blinked, his eyes showing some confusion. "It's delicious; you should try it."

While speaking, Ling Chunann sliced off a small piece of flesh from the man's arm and offered it to his lips. With a sincere look, he said, "Really."

The manager, who screamed loudly from the pain as the flesh was cut, suddenly stopped and frantically retreated, shouting, "Madman, you're a madman!"

Persistently, Ling Chunann continued to offer the flesh to Zhang Ye's mouth, persuading him, "It's a bit hard to accept at first, but you'll find it delicious once you get used to it."

Zhang Ye had already backed into a corner, tightly closing his mouth. His eyes, filled with fear, watched as the piece of flesh was once again brought close to him. The nauseating smell of blood entered his nostrils, and he felt his stomach churning, beginning to retch continuously.

A trace of regret passed over Ling Chunann's face. "Maybe you're not hungry enough yet." He placed the piece of meat on the ground in front of Zhang Ye. "I'll cut it for you. When you feel like eating, take it yourself. Otherwise, I'm afraid you might bite yourself."

"No, please..." Zhang Ye shook his head. "You're a madman."

Ignoring his words, Ling Chunann bit into his own arm, closed his eyes, swallowed, and licked the blood from the corner of his lips. "It's really delicious. Why don't you believe me?"

Watching the surgical knife getting closer and closer, Zhang Ye's face showed despair.

When Ling Chunann cut off the fifteenth piece of flesh, Zhang Ye chose to end his own life by biting his tongue.

Calmly watching the blood gush from the manager's mouth, Ling Chunann slowly sat on the floor, adopting the same posture as in his final memory, huddled against the wall.

"Counterattack value +35%, current counterattack value is 100%. Congratulations, host, on completing the mission. You have earned four months of stay. Would the host like to stay?"

"Host, host?" 098 tried to awaken the seemingly trapped Ling Chunann in a nightmare, but no matter how it called, it seemed futile.

After another two hours, Chu Yunge rushed over. Ignoring the room filled with blood, he strode forward, embracing the still posed Ling Chunann, repeatedly patting his back and comforting him. "Baby, I'm here. It's okay now, it's okay..."

After an unknown amount of time, Ling Chunann reached out, encircling Chu Yunge's neck. His voice choked with tears, "It would have been so much better if you had come earlier."
