Chapter 25: Stepson of a Prestigious Family

Jiang Yang is currently in a coma, and KK is unable to detect his mental activity. Whether the original owner's wish was fulfilled at this crucial moment of the Jiang family's change in ownership, KK doesn't know. It truthfully reported this to Nie Jia. It could only wait for Jiang Yang to wake up or perhaps hope that he would just pass away in this state.

Nie Jia wasn't particularly concerned about this, but his mood was somewhat delicate. He hadn't expected Gu Xueying to retaliate against Jiang Yang in such a way, nearly ruining his plans.

"In fact, Gu Xueying dared to do this only after Jiang Yang had completely lost his power. He didn't intend to go against your wishes," the system added.

"I know. You live and learn. I won't stake crucial bets on others in the future," Nie Jia responded faintly in his mind to the system's words.

The system didn't say more. It detected a slight displeasure in Nie Jia's emotions, evidently unhappy with Gu Xueying's unilateral actions. If this collision had left Jiang Yang in a vegetative state, wouldn't that ruin Mr. Nie's big plans? Fortunately, Mr. Nie could freely access his own abilities now. Even if Jiang Yang indeed became vegetative, he could heal him.

However, Gu Xueying's actions had indeed sounded an alarm for Nie Jia. Thankfully, this time, it was just a glitch after everything was done. If he handed over such decisive power to someone else next time, who knew what trouble he might bring upon himself?

This time, Nie Jia thought coldly, it's over. There won't be a next time.

Initially worried that Nie Jia's controlling nature might hinder his treatment of depression, the system now felt somewhat relieved. Mr. Nie's obsession with details indicated his awakening survival instinct, his effort to stay alive.

The Director would be very pleased when he found out.

In the brief exchange between Nie Jia and the system, a sudden sensation of weightlessness brought him back to reality. He blinked in surprise, only to find Huo Qing holding his waist, placing him on the washbasin.

"Lost in thought?" Huo Qing leaned slightly, his forehead touching Nie Jia's, warmth mixed with a hint of alcohol enveloping Nie Jia's cheeks. He casually removed his lover's glasses and placed them aside, tenderly gazing into Nie Jia's gem-like eyes. Unable to resist, he gently kissed near the blushing corners of Nie Jia's eyes. "Are you still upset about Gu Xueying's actions?"

"No." Nie Jia smiled, his cheeks slightly flushed, his hands encircling Huo Qing's nape, their foreheads touching.

"The matters in Moon City are settled. Shall we get married in the Netherlands?" Huo Qing suggested.

"Sure. Do you need a custom-made wedding gown, Mr. Huo?" Looking at Huo Qing's handsome face so close, and the almost sickening sweetness in his eyes, Nie Jia's slight discomfort vanished instantly.

The two indulged in the washroom for a while. After agreeing on the wedding date, Huo Qing couldn't resist but press Nie Jia onto the bed, and they spent the night together.

The news of Jiang Yang's accident and hospitalization due to a car crash spread before dawn, especially when it was revealed that Jiang Yang was driving under the influence. The entire internet mocked the situation as karma. Numerous people even thanked the person who collided with Jiang Yang. On the road, whether it was drunk driving or reckless driving, it was akin to murder. Fortunately, Jiang Yang was hit before he could go too far; otherwise, who knows who else might have died tragically under Jiang Yang's wheels.

Jiang Yang's injuries were severe. It took a full twelve hours of rescue efforts to stabilize him. Though he survived, his spinal cord was damaged, rendering him paralyzed from the waist down. From then on, he would be bedridden.

Nie Jia was the first to learn of this news, followed by Jiang Zhaolin.

The primary responsibility for the incident lay with Jiang Yang. Therefore, despite his paralysis, the person responsible only compensated minimally for the accident and a fraction of the medical expenses. Jiang Zhaolin could only swallow this loss.

Upon hearing that Jiang Yang had become disabled, Jiang Zhaolin almost went mad. However, after confirming with the doctors that Jiang Yang had no hope of recovery, he strangely calmed down.

Not long after, the government investigation team publicly announced the comprehensive investigation results regarding the Jiang family, confirming that they were not involved in illegal activities such as money laundering and bribing officials. The Jiang family's innocence was established. Many sympathized with Jiang Yang. Such a big company had been dragged down by someone like Meng Qian.

After the resurgence of the Gu family, they once again supported the Jiang family in regaining control of the Pacific Cable Project. The Jiangs averted an unprecedented crisis and managed to stabilize their tottering empire, seemingly returning everything back to normalcy.

However, Jiang Yang remained unconscious. Once his condition stabilized, Jiang Zhaolin took him back home, along with his mistress Xie Ya and their illegitimate child, Jiang Wenbo.

An Na, observing with a cold eye all this while, could barely contain a scornful chuckle upon witnessing Xie Ya and Jiang Wenbo entering the household.

Seeing the eldest son in dire straits, Jiang Zhaolin hurriedly brought his illegitimate child home even before Jiang Yang woke up. Just as she expected, he outright abandoned Jiang Yang without hesitation. It was clear to An Na that Jiang Zhaolin never truly considered Jiang Yang as part of his family.

They hadn't divorced yet, yet here he was, bringing his mistress home.

That black-hearted man had only scheming in his mind, always calculating how to manipulate others.

"Jiang Zhaolin, I don't need any of your assets. Let's sign the divorce agreement. Su Su wants to take me abroad for a birthday celebration. I have time today; let's get the paperwork done this afternoon." An Na, draped in a grey coat, sat in the living room sipping tea, exuding elegance and grace, not even sparing a glance at Xie Ya.

Jiang Zhaolin didn't dawdle either; bringing Xie Ya back was his way of signaling the intention to divorce An Na. Upon confirming Jiang Yang's high-level paralysis, Jiang Zhaolin discovered that 81% of the Jiang family's shares were non-transparent. He had no idea where Jiang Yang's share had gone, and conveniently, he didn't want to share it with An Na. Divorce suited his intentions perfectly.

Jiang Zhaolin swiftly signed the papers. An Na carefully tucked away the agreement; if Jiang Zhaolin dared to backtrack, they'd meet in court.

"Wenbo, let Daddy take you to see your room." Jiang Zhaolin affectionately pulled his illegitimate child close, eager to accompany him upstairs.

Jiang Wenbo cheerfully called out "Daddy," and Jiang Zhaolin blossomed with joy, completely forgetting that he had another son still unconscious.

Xie Ya didn't follow them, instead, she sat opposite An Na, chin up with smug satisfaction, commanding the maid as if she were the mistress of the house, pouring herself a cup of tea. She snidely remarked to An Na, "Leaving with nothing, well, at least you've got a little insight."

An Na, casually reclining on the couch, looked at this woman who now seemed to despise her, and languidly retorted, "Where does this smugness of yours come from?"

Actually, she didn't need to ask. Xie Ya, this third party, had finally "ousted" her and climbed up to the position of the legitimate wife. She still harbored resentment from being scolded by Qin Yi Ran at the mall not long ago. Furthermore, Jiang Wenbo, for now, was Jiang Zhaolin's only "useful" son. Now, standing proudly in front of her, wasn't she just flaunting her status?

An Na smiled as she watched Xie Ya, the leading role in this circus, and her son coming over. It was the perfect distraction from her boredom.
