Chapter 320: The Dead

No one knew if there was any intelligence within the bandaged void entities, what they wanted to do, or what their guiding principles were.

The vast forest had turned into a lifeless ghost domain, with seven voids wandering within, slowly heading outwards.

The changes in the forest were quickly noticed by Dove.

Why had the green smoke that covered the entire forest disappeared? Why had an old woman killed twenty or so artificial soldiers when they were only dealing with a few poachers? Why did the heavens send him a useful tool that also brought disaster?

One troubling event followed another, causing numerous cracks in Dove's mindset, shattering his former confidence.

The power accumulated over more than a decade had been halved in just one week, and the most crucial biochemical weapon seemed to have found a countermeasure.

Dove was already somewhat shaken, and the disappearance of the green smoke in the forest was the last straw that broke the camel's back.

He could easily abandon all the artificial soldiers, but he couldn't allow the painstakingly created biochemical weapon to be neutralized by the enemy.

Dove associated the situation with Luo and Sanbica. He needed to understand the reason, so he temporarily set aside the matter of the poachers, leading all his forces into the forest.

He believed Luo and Sanbica were the most threatening individuals at the moment, unaware that the changes in the forest were due to the actions of the seven voids and had nothing to do with Luo and Sanbica.

...

At the port of Devil Island, a ship docked, and an old man with white hair, dressed in a blue and white short-sleeved shirt and blue shorts, jumped off the ship.

The front of his short-sleeved shirt bore a large "Heart" character. After disembarking, he walked straight towards the checkpoint of Devil Island, where the stench of corpses was already emanating.

This old man was Netero, who had overstepped the rules and arrived alone on Devil Island.

Netero glanced at the corpses strewn across the ground, ignoring the stench in the air, and quickly walked towards the only passage under the high wall.

The corpses on the ground were those of soldiers stationed at the port. They had no external injuries and had starved to death.

That day, they had been stunned by Linne's aura, which scattered their spirits, leaving them standing still until their bodily functions deteriorated, and they eventually starved to death.

These corpses were not worthy of Netero's attention. He walked through the passage and truly entered the island.

Behind the high wall was a vast wasteland.

Netero placed his hand on his forehead, looking at the distant greenery, and murmured to himself, "One day should be enough."

With that, he waved his hand, kicked his feet, and then squatted slightly, letting Nen flow around his body.

"Boom!"

Suddenly, a small pit exploded on the flat ground, smoke and dust scattered, and Netero turned into a sharp blade, appearing in the distance in an instant.

That night, Luo and his group welcomed Netero, who had run all the way to them.

Seeing Netero running from the distant horizon with terrifying speed, combined with Netero's age, gave an impression of vigorous vitality.

"Luo, come with me."

Upon reaching the rendezvous point, Netero called out directly, then turned and walked some distance towards the prison.

Hearing this, Luo lifted his foot to follow Netero's back.

The two stopped about a hundred meters away, while the others could only quietly watch the two from the campfire.

Linne held a roasted frog leg, eating it in small bites, not paying attention to Luo and Netero.

Netero looked towards the prison and said calmly, "Come with me to the prison, we set off immediately."

Upon arriving at the rendezvous point, without even resting, Netero wanted Luo to go directly to the prison with him at night.

Luo was slightly stunned. He first glanced at the people sitting around the campfire, then looked at Netero's calm expression. Without hesitating for long, he nodded and said, "Okay."

He was waiting for Netero here to go to the prison together. As long as Netero was there, he could act without restraint.

However, he didn't expect Netero to be so urgent, wanting to go to the prison as soon as he arrived.

"Follow me."

Seeing Luo agree, Netero didn't say much. He squatted and leaped forward, running swiftly, kicking up a cloud of dust.

Luo got a face full of dust. When he looked up, Netero was already far away. He quickly summoned the black cat and followed Netero at his fastest speed.

The two quickly disappeared from everyone's sight.

Watching Luo and Netero leave without a word, Machi and Sanbica stood up abruptly, their expressions changing.

Linne put down the tree branch, looked at Machi and Sanbica, and said calmly, "They will handle the remaining matters. You stay here."

Hearing Linne's words, the people sitting around the campfire remained silent.

At dawn, the sunlight illuminated the earth.

Netero and Luo arrived at the lake and witnessed an unexpected scene.

On the shore of the lake lay numerous corpses, and on the lake surface, seven humanoid bandages were heading towards a small island in the middle of the lake.

The corpses on the ground included normal humans in black uniforms and artificial magical beasts with human heads and animal bodies. Green blood slowly flowed from each corpse, forming pools of blood.

Netero frowned slightly, habitually stroking his beard. He first glanced at the corpses on the ground, then looked at the seven strange humanoid bandages on the lake.

What had happened here? What were those humanoid bandages?

With Netero's eyesight, he could clearly see the shape of the humanoid bandages. They were simply humanoid forms made of bandages, with nothing inside, and devoid of Nen and grudges.

Seeing the scene, Netero became puzzled.

He had prepared for battle before coming, considering the long journey a warm-up for the fight. Unexpectedly, upon entering the battlefield, all the enemies were already down, and there was an unknown entity.

Luo had told Linne about the voids, but Linne hadn't informed Netero, so Netero was unaware of their existence.

At this moment, a sudden wave of Nen came from beside him.

Netero quickly turned his head to look at Luo, seeing him condensing a Nen ball and shooting it towards him. Netero's eyes flashed with surprise.

The two were standing close, and the Nen ball could hit Netero in an instant. However, Luo's action was not concealed, and Netero noticed it immediately. If he wanted to dodge, he could.

However, Netero didn't dodge, allowing the Nen ball to hit his shoulder.
