Chapter 556: Higher Dimension—Mobius Strip!

Outside the capital, a flat stretch of land had been transformed into a pockmarked battlefield due to the aftermath of a battle between legendary figures, with the most noticeable feature being a long trench. It was deep at one end and even longer than two kilometers!

This was the mark left by the spell "Endgame - Atomic Breath."

However, it was clear that this attack had not achieved its intended effect. Prepared for the onslaught, the "Great Lich" Cecil managed to divert the attack through his control of space. Even when faced with the combined assault of three adversaries, he remained effortlessly in control.

A ninth-ring legendary caster is just a step away from divinity, a chasm that holds back countless other legends, yet the might of a ninth-ring legendary caster is undeniable!

Even with preparations, not even a fusion bomb, representing the power of a star, could guarantee to erase him.

On the contrary, Harof and his companions were visibly tense. While confronting Cecil, they were also cautiously monitoring the surrounding elements to guard against the sudden appearance of the "Shadow Assassin" who might decapitate them at any moment.

Had it not been for Aurora's timely use of mirror magic to dodge a catastrophe, they would have already suffered casualties.

"Cackle cackle~" Cecil laughed eerily, repelling the sound-speed sneak attack from Harof with a "Higher Death Necroblast," then mockingly spoke.

"Your resistance is futile. My other legions are probably already slaughtering the beings of this plane, and it won't be long before the Master of the Undead descends!"

"Prepare for the end of the world, for all things will perish, only the Grim Reaper endures!"

Cecil's harsh, unpleasant voice echoed outside the capital.

Despite being aware that the opponent was using this discouraging news to shake their resolve, Harof and the others couldn't help becoming somewhat impatient.

Indeed, in order to block the enemy's invasion in the north, they had diverted too much power. While the defenses of the capital and several other major cities remained tight, the protection of other towns and villages was too weak to withstand an attack by the undead army.

It seemed they needed to resolve the battle quickly!

Harof and his companions exchanged glances and quickly made a decision.

Due to the unpredictable "Assassin," they dared not recklessly use the "Endgame - Atomic Breath," a spell that required time to activate. Aurora took the lead, a powerful laser beam shot into the sky, cutting the "Great Lich" Cecil in half.

Immediately after, several rune locks burst from the ground, firmly binding the two halves of the skeletal frame.

However, trapped was merely a skeleton. As the flames of hell ignited, dissolving the rune locks, the figure of the "Great Lich" Cecil reappeared elsewhere.

In the next moment, more rune locks shot out from the void, coiling towards Cecil.

Despite being fully prepared, Cecil dared not take any chances, as just two minutes earlier, these very people had used the rune locks to restrict his movements and then combined them with a terrifyingly powerful energy spell, nearly sending him to his doom!

"Summon Higher Undead Guards"

Cecil's rotting, pale mouth, now just bone and some flesh, uttered these eerie words as several soul fires flew from his palm. Then, amidst a surge of magical power in the void, a group of robust undead guards made of magic and elements, with soul fires burning in their eyes, appeared in front of the Great Lich, firmly grasping the flying rune chains.

These revived undead were souls of legendary warriors captured during the conquest of other worlds, barely able to exert pseudo-legendary power under the manipulation of necromancy.

At the moment the four undead guards appeared, they directly broke Victorio's rune chains, bravely facing the electromagnetic cannon released by Aurora, and charged towards the group.

Meanwhile, Cecil himself raised his hand again, a barely noticeable magical fluctuation rapidly spreading.

"Higher Curse Art"

This was undoubtedly another legendary spell, this time targeting Harof!

The latter immediately felt his energetic body corroding and decaying, his complexion drastically changed, and in that instant, he completely lost the ability to cast spells.

Aurora and Victorio also looked grave, wanting to assist but were tightly blocked by the higher undead guards.

However, Harof was not attacked, and the anticipated "Shadow Assassin" did not appear.

This surprised Cecil, but he did not stop his actions, lifting his withered index finger.

"Destruction Finger"

A chilling black glow emanated from the shriveled fingertip, shooting directly at the defenseless Harof.

Then… it hit an illusory figure!

"The Shadow Assassin" Perlmon, after failing to attack Aurora, found himself in a strange place, with countless intersecting corridors in front of him, and at the end of each corridor, a room identical to the others.

Was

this a mental illusion? Or some spell that altered space?

Perlmon did not know, only guessing that he might have been counterattacked by some spell while attacking the female caster.

The opponent's mirror magic was particularly unique, leaving a deep impression on him and even capable of rebounding the "Great Lich" Cecil's necromancy to some extent.

Considering this, Perlmon dared not linger in this place, nor did he plan to follow the guided path, instead, he directly blasted the corridor's floor. However, he soon discovered that beneath the corridor was yet another corridor, and on the other side of the room was still a room.

Everything here seemed infinitely repetitive. Perlmon tried to escape the illusion by torturing his body to stimulate his mind, making marks or leaving magical imprints to find his way, but all were in vain.

Everything he could see was gray and white, every room, every corridor identical, even down to the atomic level, indistinguishable from each other. After countless attempts, breaking endless walls, and even trying to follow the corridors' directions obediently, what awaited him was only more of the same.

Perlmon gradually lost track of how long he had been in this space—it could have been a minute, an hour, a day, a month, a year…

Here, time seemed meaningless, space distorted and fragmented, unable to discern up from down, left from right. After tens of thousands of attempts and efforts, Perlmon went from calm contemplation to furious destruction, eventually losing his sanity, becoming hysterical…

"Can't you withstand this?" Lynn shook his head helplessly; he hadn't even managed to test more methods on the opponent before he broke down.

He had created this space like a Mobius strip, completely enclosed. No matter which direction Perlmon went, he would eventually return to the starting point.

The space was vast, and since everything inside was constructed from his magic, capable of rapid repair, it created an endlessly repetitive time and space.

Furthermore, Lynn had interfered with the opponent's perception of time at a higher dimensional level.

This was akin to a form of torture; if one could create an utterly dark, empty space and lock a person inside, even the most resilient individuals couldn't last long.

Pilots of new century spacecraft often faced similar cosmic claustrophobia, which is why ultra-long-distance interstellar flights require cryogenic chambers.

To experiment with creating a Mobius strip, Lynn did not make the space void but turned it into an endlessly looping pure white corridor.

There was no sound inside, and aside from the walls, there were no other elements.

Lynn had thought the opponent, at least being legendary, would last a bit longer, allowing him to gather more research data. However, in reality, it only took a few minutes for the opponent to collapse!

Of course, for Perlmon, whose perception was disrupted, it had already been several months of continuous turmoil.

Well, it was time to let him go!

As Harof fell into a life-and-death crisis, Lynn decided to unravel the "Mobius Strip."

As Perlmon smashed yet another wall in his frenzy within the space, his entire body suddenly trembled with excitement, for he saw something other than pure white for the first time and rushed out eagerly!

Outside was a dim sky, green grass, and a dark beam of light coming towards him.

It was the "Great Lich" Cecil's "Destruction Finger"! This powerful legendary spell could annihilate any visible matter, and it struck Perlmon directly, obliterating most of his body, leaving only a head and half a shoulder rolling through the air.

Everyone present was stunned, Cecil especially, frozen in place, unable to understand why Perlmon, who had been unseen until now, suddenly appeared, taking the hit of "Destruction Finger" for Harof.

The severely wounded Perlmon did not die immediately but finally woke from his madness.

"By the Moon God, this must be the power of the Moon God?!"

Perlmon cried out in horror, the soul fires in his eyes trembling. In his mind, only a deity could perform such bizarre acts.

Cecil also came to his senses, recalling the scene of his necromantic fog being blown away by an inexplicable gust of wind.

"Are you looking for the Moon God? I'm sorry, she's been dead for a long time, but if you insist, I can send you to meet her!" A voice echoed in everyone's ears, not someone's words, but the air elements vibrating at a specific frequency to form sound waves.

In the next moment, an indescribable presence descended from the depths…
