Chapter 552: The Might of the Sunflare Cannon, the Frustrated Nine-Ring Great Demon

Within a valley shrouded by the Fog of the Dead, the "Plague Spreader" Nikru burst forth from the temporal gate, flapping his wings.

As a high-ranking demon, Nikru inherently possessed legendary strength. After pledging allegiance to the great Lord of the Dead, he had ascended to become a nine-ring legendary demon, bestowed with the powers to spread plague and virulent poison!

In this invasion of a new plane, he had volunteered as the vanguard, eager to achieve merits and once again earn the favor of the Lord of the Dead!

Just like Cecil!

Thinking of that lucky "Great Lich," Nikru felt envious and resentful. Previously, when Cecil was chosen by the Lord of the Dead to scout the divine realm of the Moon Goddess Diana, Nikru had felt somewhat schadenfreude, believing that the other was likely not coming back.

After all, willingly entering a god’s divine realm, even for a nine-ring legendary wizard, usually meant slim chances of survival.

However, what seemed to them a perilous, almost suicidal mission turned swiftly into an opportunity to reap great rewards.

Who would have thought that the Moon Goddess, upon learning that the Lord of the Dead had set his sights on her divine realm, would flee in panic, allowing Cecil to easily take over the entire plane and even earning a promise from the Lord of the Dead.

Once the new plane was conquered, it would gift Cecil what was once the divine realm of the Moon Goddess...

Jealousy and rage blazed in Nikru’s heart. If he could outdo Cecil in merits, perhaps the Lord of the Dead would also generously grant him the chance to ascend to godhood!

Thus, Nikru seized this opportunity to become the vanguard.

He was gambling that the Moon Goddess had not yet fully merged with this plane, otherwise, she wouldn't have let Cecil slaughter her divine realm.

Upon entering this world, Nikru immediately realized he had won his bet!

For the void’s elements bore no will of any being, this was a masterless plane!

"Foolish mortals, death has arrived!" Nikru bellowed, his loud and shrill voice echoing over the valley.

The domains of plague and poison rapidly expanded around him, soon merging with the Fog of the Dead and breaking free from the storm’s restraint!

The high-level Corpse Explosion technique was his masterpiece, a divine art granted by the Lord of the Dead, allowing them to control the lives and even the souls of these lower undead.

Invading the plane with a mass of fodder, draining the divine power of the opposition, gauging their reality, and then using the Corpse Explosion to gather these undead spirits to amplify his own power was his plan to crush these native inhabitants of the plane!

However, what greeted him was not the terrified gazes of the natives or their soul-devouring screams, but a tremendously powerful beam of destruction!

At the moment the light flared, Nikru felt the intense threat. A terrifying stream of radiation instantly pierced through the dark green poison fog, annihilating huge skeletal dragons, screeching banshees, and countless wailing, shrieking ghosts in an instant!

Then came a focused energy wave and temperatures of millions of degrees. Nikru had no time to dodge and was swept away.

In that instant, the entire valley seemed to contain only that sky-piercing conical pillar of energy!

The surging Fog of the Dead was also ripped open by a huge gash!

Harof and others stared intently at the center of the light pillar, unable to ensure the strike was absolutely effective until the actual outcome emerged.

After the blinding light faded, a blurry shadow quickly appeared before everyone,

Leveraging the Fog of the Dead and his own domain for dual weakening, Nikru had somehow managed to catch that Skyfall strike!

However, his condition appeared quite dire, his robust body almost unrecognizable as if corked, yet still showing signs of life, visibly regenerating at a speed visible to the naked eye.

The wizards present were utterly astonished, aside from Aila, they had never seen anyone withstand a hit of nuclear magic!

Although constrained by the material's ability to bear force, the Sunflare Cannon’s destructive power was somewhat weaker compared to "Final Breath - Atomic Exhale," and its range far less than Skyfall. But as the pinnacle of alchemical creation, its power remained terrifying!

A single strike could evaporate lakes, pierce mountains, and more. And this time, they had used twice the critical amount!

Harof felt that if he were within a kilometer of a direct hit, even with a force field set up in advance, survival would be unlikely.

At this moment, on the battlefield, the surging Fog of the Dead seemed called by some summon, madly converging towards the center, infusing into Nikru’s body, causing

the severely wounded high-level demon’s form to rapidly swell.

Anger, brutality, and a trace of fear and panic filled Nikru’s mind, having endured a direct hit from the Sunflare Cannon, which completely disoriented the high-level demon.

Had it not been for his last-moment merging of his domain with the Fog of the Dead, using the souls of millions of dead to shield and absorb seventy percent of the energy impact, he would likely have been obliterated by the nuclear blast by now.

What is this? Could it be that the Moon Goddess has intervened? Nikru didn't know, but the near-death terror and anger threw him into complete frenzy, his roars continuously resounding in the valley, ready to devour the remaining undead souls to boost his own power.

However, Harof clearly wasn't going to give him that chance, realizing that one Sunflare Cannon shot wasn't enough to solve the problem, he spoke again.

"Continue, increase the intensity!"

At the moment his words fell, the other five Sunflare Cannons, already adjusted in direction, also lit up simultaneously, the intense beams of destruction shooting from various angles, all targeting the high-level demon in the sky.

"No!" Nikru’s eyes bulged, then he was completely submerged under several energy columns' assault. Under prepared circumstances, he was confident in blocking another hit from the Sunflare Cannon!

But the opponent obviously did not play by the rules, using five Sunflare Cannons for a combined attack to ensure a kill!

Thus, just two minutes after emerging from the temporal gate, before he could figure out the situation or utilize his own power, Nikru was unfortunately overwhelmed by the collective strike of several Sunflare Cannons!

As he said, death indeed arrived, but not on others' heads, but his own...

After the energy pillars dissipated, the gathering of wizards finally breathed a sigh of relief, the valley’s Fog of the Dead had completely evaporated, and not even remnants remained of the high-level demon!

Harof always believed that unless touching a higher-dimensional power, under nuclear bombardment, all beings are equal. If anyone could withstand the strike of a Sunflare Cannon, then they simply hadn’t used enough!

However, the fact that a vanguard sent by the Lord of the Dead required a combined strike of multiple Sunflare Cannons to ensure a kill did somewhat worry Harof.

It was foreseeable that the Lord of the Dead’s legendary ranks were not few. If five or six legends breached the temporal gate at once, even fifteen Sunflare Cannons combined might struggle to completely eliminate them.

If there were more, then they would have to take action themselves!

Moreover, the Sunflare Cannon was not without weaknesses, sufficiently powerful force field magic could resist to a certain extent, and if used repeatedly, the opponent would eventually discover this...

Although somewhat worried, Harof did not show it on his face. Under the bombardment of the five Sunflare Cannons, the undead throughout the valley also turned to ashes.

After nearly a day of continuous fighting, the kingdom’s soldiers finally had a moment to breathe. Even under the relentless assault of cannons, machine guns, and Sunflare Cannons, all undead emerging from the temporal gate were usually annihilated before reaching them, but the psychological pressure was not trivial.

Victorio was very aware that such high-intensity combat could not continue indefinitely. After discussing with several other councilors, he took out a high-purity uranium stone, like launching an electromagnetic cannon, and blasted it towards the direction of the temporal gate.

As the saying goes, to come and not return is discourteous. It was also time to let the other side witness their gift!

Intense bright light, violent explosions, and the mushroom cloud rising in the sky reappeared in the foreign land, the million-strong gathering of undead at the temporal gate instantly obliterated.

"It seems Nikru is indeed dead!" the "Winter Dragon" Valoc said, heart pounding as he watched the energy wave sweep the undead army into dust.

Fortunately, this foolish glory-seeker was there, sparing him from disaster.

Of course, as a price, Valoc had to dispatch some of his direct units, dozens of skeletal dragons to support Nikru in the attack, which were now clearly wiped out by the followers of the Moon Goddess.

Valoc looked at Cecil, feeling a chill in his heart, believing that the reason Nikru died so swiftly was that Cecil had deliberately withheld information about this powerful 'divine art'.

"I had already warned him to be cautious." Cecil said with a sinister sneer. "Moreover, you didn’t think that knowing this information, he could defeat the Moon Goddess, did you?"

Since gaining the favor of the Lord of the Dead and the promise of deification, many fellow nine-ring legendary undead were jealous of his "good fortune," Nikru among them, and the most jubilant at that!

Now, since the other party actively sought to claim glory, Cecil naturally would not miss this opportunity to strike back.

In

such a situation, no one could blame him.

Nikru’s sacrifice was absolutely worth it. The arrival of this nine-ring legendary demon and the continuous onslaught of millions of undead should be enough to convince the other side that they had deployed all their forces here.

Incidentally, Cecil also confirmed that the Moon Goddess had not fully mastered that plane.

These were undoubtedly very good news. As long as they could win this divine war, the Lord of the Dead would likely not care about the death of a high-level demon.

It seems his luck has always been good…

"Let's go, from now on, let Deus take command here." Cecil said nonchalantly.

His necromancers had already located the position of the second temporal node based on the flow of magical energy!
