Chapter 536: Concept of the Curvature Engine and the Final Deadline

Harof, Anthony, and Victorio were contemplating the four-dimensional space concept proposed by Lynn.

Aurora raised a more practical question. "What if, as you suspect, those gods also exist in a higher dimension?"

"That would mean that most of our methods are likely ineffective against them!" Lynn said solemnly. "For example, imagine there is an enemy who can fly. If I only tell you his position is fifteen meters along the X-axis and thirty-five meters along the Y-axis, could you hit him?"

Aurora paused, then quickly grasped Lynn's point. Having only the horizontal and vertical coordinates, of course, one cannot hit the target because a critical component is missing—the vertical axis!

Without knowing how high the opponent is flying, it's impossible to guarantee a hit, because they could be at any altitude.

And now, they faced a similar situation. Existing in three-dimensional space, they knew the coordinates along the x, y, and z-axes, but could not determine the four-dimensional position of their adversaries...

"If we could observe from a higher dimension to a lower one, everything about us might be visible to them," Lynn stated gravely. "We can liken it to how three-dimensional observation compares to two-dimensional..."

Lynn pointed on the table and, using magic, created several oddly shaped flat figures. They were as thin as paper, with their internal organs visible like an X-ray in front of everyone.

Lynn then smashed his right hand down, completely crushing them...

Harof watched, his eyebrows twitching in horror, and exclaimed, "Then, are we completely without hope?"

Aurora, Victorio, and Anthony all looked grim. Being powerful wasn't scary, but this time they were facing an incomprehensible opponent.

"Not necessarily..." Lynn shook his head and continued. "We are not completely incapable of affecting higher-dimensional spaces."

Anthony, Aurora, and Victorio looked at Lynn curiously, eager to know what ability he was talking about.

Harof was the first to realize, saying, "It's observation!"

At this, the others quickly understood because they were using observation to collapse the probability cloud of microscopic particles into a definite state.

"Correct, but observation alone isn't enough; what we often see is just a projection of the higher dimensions in our lower-dimensional world," Lynn explained.

In the past, many researchers in the Federation hypothesized that microscopic particles have higher-dimensional characteristics, which is why they appear so unreasonable in a three-dimensional perception, as they are seeing partial projections.

The phenomenon of quantum entanglement might also be a linkage at a higher dimension.

"So what we need is an equivalent level of observation to truly know the opposing side!" Lynn said steadily.

"That means we need to awaken Althok soon," Victorio said, as only the quantumized Althok could fully observe the information from the higher-dimensional world.

However, reviving a madman was not easy; they couldn't even be sure if he would attack them as well.

But regardless, Althok's power was now of utmost importance.

Considering this, Harof and the others began discussing what methods to use to awaken him. Lynn's proposed multi-person observation method might be worth a try—if they can overcome the grand wizards' fears about the strange manifestations of microscopic particles.

Aurora even whimsically suggested using a faith method because she thought that the gods, unlike Althok, probably didn't have such problems due to their vast number of believers.

Lynn nodded in agreement. In fact, with the help of the magic network, he could also barely observe the higher-dimensional scenes.

This part was due to the burst in computing power, which gave him the possibility to understand four-dimensional space, and the other part was due to the brain-computer interface. When he traversed, the brain-computer interface was quantumized for unknown reasons, acting like a window from a lower to a higher dimension, allowing him to explore high-dimensional worlds as long as the computing power was sufficient.

In magical terms, it meant that he, a being with divine attributes, could barely touch the realm of the gods.

"Moreover, you need not worry too much. Althok's quantum probability cloud is limited to the domain's coverage area. I suspect those gods' strength is probably only truly manifested within their divine domain, which means we do not need to face a high-dimensional existence in its prime," Lynn reassured them, boosting everyone's morale.

Perhaps this was why the raven kept reminding them to let the Lord of the Necromancers descend into this world.

"Indeed, gods are not invincible; otherwise, the Moon Goddess Diana would not have fallen!" Harof nodded, and Aurora and Anthony's expressions also brightened.

Victorio then shared some bad news. According to their latest reports, the foreign legion of the undead had become restless and was frantically searching for the position of the spacetime nodes, likely having determined their general

 location.

"It seems the war is coming..." Aurora raised an eyebrow, her tone very calm.

Lynn and the others were not surprised either. Due to the Star Messenger's early warning, they had been expecting this day and had been preparing for it.

In fact, they had managed to delay much longer than expected. According to their worst-case scenario, the war would have erupted within three months, but now it had been nine months!

The council's major construction plans were also mostly complete, especially the installation of magic power stations which now covered thirty-six major cities within the empire, and the magic network should be able to operate within the empire's borders.

"Did Raphael say anything else?" Lynn continued.

"They said they would try to delay for a while, diverting the undead's attention elsewhere," Victorio sighed.

The risks of doing so were imaginable. The halfling settlement where Raphael and others were located was not far from the valley where the spacetime gate was located, and they could retreat at any moment if something went wrong.

Now, if they led the enemy elsewhere, returning would be difficult.

Aurora also felt that Raphael's action was very risky, but she opened her mouth and couldn't find the words to object, because the different time flows between the two places were almost their greatest weapon. If they could prepare for one more day, their chances of winning would increase by that much.

"According to Raphael's own estimate, they can delay for at least half a month, and with good luck, maybe even a month," Victorio added.

Half a month? That's about three and a half months in terms of local time, Harof mused. This would give them a relatively ample time to mobilize their forces and awaken Althok.

Previously, the council did not know from which spacetime gate the enemy would attack, so they had prepared defensive forces at nearly every location. Even though they could use airships and trains for deployment, gathering forces would still take a considerable amount of time, and three and a half months was really not enough!

"If they manage to delay for a sufficient time, should we organize a rescue?" Anthony suddenly asked.

At this, the several people present fell silent. If Raphael's plan succeeded, it would mean that most of the undead's attention would be drawn there, creating an extremely dangerous situation.

"Rescue!" Lynn said without hesitation.

Harof couldn't help frowning. Rescuing was the most moral and would boost morale, but it was also the least rational, given the risks and costs involved.

It might require several council members to act together to have a chance of rescuing the others, or even sending an army directly into the spacetime gate.

If the Lord of the Necromancers had already taken control of the foreign land, in the presence of a higher-dimensional being, they would not even have the capability to resist.

If not handled properly, a large number of elites could fall in the foreign land, and then this world would be doomed!

Without waiting for others to object, Lynn continued to explain. "Actually, there's no need to dispatch too many people. Sending one airship and one fighter jet should be enough—one to pave the way, the other to transport people!"

"Are you sure?" Aurora looked at Lynn incredulously.

According to his understanding, a fighter jet's speed could reach about three to four hundred kilometers per hour, which indeed was fast but only against ordinary opponents. In front of legends, it seemed insufficient.

"Master Dennis has recently developed a new type of propulsion that can greatly increase the flight speed of fighter jets," Lynn continued.

"How fast can it go?" Harof asked jokingly, thinking it would just increase from three hundred kilometers to five or six hundred kilometers per hour,

which indeed was fast but still insufficient.

"If all goes well, it should be able to reach about three times the speed of sound!" Lynn stated confidently.

Of course, the speed of sound in two worlds is different. According to Raphael's calculations, the speed of sound in the foreign land is about 280 meters per second, which means the fighter jet could likely reach about three and a half times the speed of sound in the foreign land!

"Three times... the speed of sound?!" Harof almost doubted whether he had heard incorrectly. Even at his full flight, it seemed to be only about one and a half times the speed of sound.

Anthony, Aurora, and Victorio were equally astonished. That meant the fighter jet could outpace them during high-speed flight.

The most important thing was that moving at the speed of sound was considered a benchmark for entering the realm of legends, yet it was just an alchemical creation. How could it possibly reach such a speed?

"Why are you so surprised? My electromagnetic railgun can even reach over thirty times the speed of sound, not to mention the speed of light."

Lynn said jokingly. He had seen aircraft in the brain-computer interface's database that, even at their slowest, were calculated to

travel several times the first cosmic speed. These outdated space vehicles, unable to conduct interstellar travel, were only used as intra-system transportation, so surpassing the speed of sound was never a big deal to Lynn.

Listening to Lynn's words, Harof and the others were speechless. The concept of a spell breaking the sound barrier and personal flight were two different things.

Having experienced the power of legends, they had vaguely entertained the notion that anything below legend was insignificant. Now, this concept was undoubtedly shattered by a fighter jet.

Coupled with the Indestructible Flame or even small fusion bombs, a skilled pilot could pose a significant threat to them.

Since everyone present was trustworthy, Lynn did not hide the principles of the new fighter jets and introduced Dennis' explosive propulsion in detail.

Calling it an explosion, in reality, it utilized the principle of high-pressure gas rapidly expanding after combustion, coupled with a Laval nozzle to accelerate the high-speed airflow twice, forward and back, thereby generating powerful thrust and breaking through the sound barrier...

"This is like the principle of muskets and cannons..." Victorio suddenly had an insight and immediately proposed that once the supersonic production test flight was completed, they must exceptionally award Dennis a Silver Moon Medal. Thinking of such a propulsion method was definitely a stroke of genius in alchemy.

"That cross-sonic nozzle is interesting; I wonder if we could also use this method to fly," Aurora said, interested in this unique gas propulsion flight.

"If you have time, you might as well study it," Lynn said, having no intention of getting involved. Recently, he was researching how to increase speed by distorting space, like how Ella did before, so he had no time to ponder this inefficient speed-up method.

If they could decode it, they might be able to create a terrifying propulsion device, a curvature engine!

Before his traversal, the Federation had been pondering this new type of propulsion method, and even the blueprints were designed, but the problem was that they couldn't find a truly stable, controllable source of gravity, so it had been shelved.

But with the power of magic, they seemed to have a chance to overtake on the curve...

"Since Dennis has produced the new fighter jets, then indeed the rescue operation could be worth a try," Harof said, bringing the gradually distorting topic back on track.

"Just one thing to consider, how to conduct the rescue?"

By then, Raphael and the others would surely be surrounded by a massive number of undead, among which there could be legendary beings. A single fighter jet, even if fast, couldn't possibly rescue the people.

"I left a contingency on the ring I entrusted to Master Raphael, plus the nuclear warhead Chairman Victorio gave him, which should be enough to handle most situations!" Lynn said solemnly, having tested it four times in anti-operations, and it should be able to function in the foreign land.

"Since you have a plan, let's go with it!" Harof nodded, and Anthony, Aurora, and Victorio had no objections. If there was a chance to save people without taking too much risk, they naturally had to try, otherwise it would be too disheartening.

"As for the timing of the action..." Lynn paused. "Let's set it for three and a half months from now!"

That's half a month later in the foreign land, which Raphael believed was the shortest deadline they could achieve. If they were sacrificed before then, the council would be powerless.
