Chapter 209: The End

An extraordinary fishing training session almost pulled Luo into the lake, but he persisted until the vine snapped.

Had it not been for a month of rigorous practice without an increase in lung capacity, he would have been pulled into the lake without any resistance the moment the bait was taken.

The strange fish in the lake generated a pulling force of over a ton. Moreover, it was so vigorous that it showed no signs of fatigue even at the moment the vine broke, while Luo sat down exhausted.

The forces acting on each other resulted in a deadlock lasting an hour. Luo had to constantly exert force with his arms to maintain the deadlock, but physically, he was completely defeated.

"I only managed to pull less than half a meter..."

Luo lay on the ground, having tried to pull the vine back during that hour-long tug-of-war, but he only managed to retrieve a short length.

After his muscles relaxed, Luo found he couldn't lift his arms anymore; the weight on his arms had become the last straw.

Biscuit approached and first summoned Ms. Cookie to massage Luo's arms, then said, "We'll continue in an hour."

After that, she returned to the area they had cleared before, where logs were now laid out, seemingly in preparation to build a log cabin.

Enjoying the massage from Ms. Cookie, Luo gradually regained feeling in his arms.

He turned his head to look at Ms. Cookie, who was kneeling beside him, and smiled, "Thanks."

Ms. Cookie responded with a sweet smile, then remained unresponsive.

Thanks to Ms. Cookie, Luo was able to maintain his intense training regimen, although he hadn't heard Ms. Cookie speak throughout the month, and she seemed less intelligent than the black cat.

While enjoying the massage, the black cat suddenly appeared on the back of Luo's hand, smiling cheekily, "Ms. Cookie, how about a massage for me too?"

Ms. Cookie did not react.

The black cat didn't mind, circling around Ms. Cookie, constantly spouting various cheeky comments.

However, Ms. Cookie remained focused on the massage, ignoring the black cat's continuous attempts to attract attention.

"Be quiet, or I'll erase you!" Luo threatened offhandedly, his forehead lined with frustration, as he saw the black cat's antics.

The black cat scoffed, hands on his head, floating in the air with his legs crossed. After a while, he floated over to Biscuit and the others, only to be immediately drafted into work.

A few days later, a simple log cabin stood by the lakeside.

Unfortunately, Luo couldn't use Nen, or else with all the materials ready, he could have built a beautiful log cabin in minutes.

Every day thereafter, Luo engaged in a tug-of-war with the strange fish in the lake. He discovered there seemed to be several of them, once encountering one with even greater strength. Luo couldn't hold on and had to let go of the vine.

As the days passed, the effectiveness of this training regimen gradually became apparent.

Luo experienced countless tug-of-war matches with the strange fish, managing to pull them closer and closer, but he was never able to pull one ashore or completely exhaust one.

Two months later, Luo finally caught the largest fish in the lake, which then turned from training into playing with the fish.

Seeing that Luo had completed the second mini-project, Biscuit announced the end of this project, and to celebrate, Luo butchered the largest fish and ate it.

With guidance from the White Smoke font, Luo knew which parts of the fish were edible. Although it was only a C-grade ingredient, he stewed it into a delicious fish soup, which only increased his stats by 0.2 on average.

During the three months at the Milsy Wetlands, Biscuit handled the meals. After spending the first month eating rhinoceros pig, the meals during the two months of fishing by the lake varied daily.

Luo consumed numerous D-grade ingredients, but his stats never changed. He ate C-grade ingredients twice, each time only increasing his average stats by less than 0.1.

This showed that the effect of enhancing strength through ingredients had diminished, or perhaps higher-grade ingredients were needed for a better effect.

Even the effects of C-grade ingredients had become so poor that the lowest standard was now B-grade ingredients.

Realizing this issue, Luo didn't pay much attention to it, as his main focus had always been on physical training.

During the training period, Luo wanted to involve Sanbica Norton in enhancing her physique, but she declined, and he didn't insist.

After finishing one project, Biscuit introduced the next.

After three months of rigorous training, coupled with adequate food supply, Luo's physique had become much more robust, and he had developed muscles. While not as exaggerated as Biscuit's transformed state, he looked strong and pleasing to the eye.

Then

, they moved locations.

Biscuit led Luo and Sanbica across the wetlands to the Mafarthus Canyon in Piskasen Forest Park, also the second testing site in the original Hunter Exam.

The canyon floor had a river channel that led directly to the sea, with very rapid water flow that could sweep a person dozens of kilometers to the sea in a short time. Once someone fell into the river, without excellent swimming skills, death was almost certain.

Upon arriving at Mafarthus Canyon, Luo immediately climbed to the top of the mountain by hand and then jumped into the canyon, landing on the web of a vulture spider.

Clusters of eggs hung on the web like grapes, each about the size of a chicken egg and dark in color, covered with spots.

Luo unapologetically picked a cluster of vulture spider eggs and easily returned to the mountain top.

Vulture spider eggs were also D-grade ingredients and no longer had any effect on Luo's strength growth, but Luo still wanted to try the taste of the eggs, as they were described as delicious by every contestant in the original story.

Biscuit said nothing about Luo's whimsical behavior, having seen how hard he had trained over the past few months.

After tasting the rich flavor of the vulture spider eggs, Luo felt immensely satisfied, the taste lingering in his mouth for a long time. Then he began the third training project.

He needed to maintain his balance at the riverbed with a breath hold of over ten minutes, ultimately aiming to be able to walk freely on the riverbed.

After this stage, he would face the challenge of swimming against the strong current, with various restraints added to increase the difficulty.

Time flew by quickly, and another three months passed. Luo had completed the first phase of his physical training, achieving remarkable results. The main contributors were Biscuit and her Nen beast.

After the training at Mafarthus Mountain, they went to a huge waterfall, where Luo completed the last two months of his physical training.

When the six months were up, Luo's Nen abilities were unsealed, and he was soon to begin the second phase of Nen ability skills training.

During the six months, Luo had become familiar with the Milsy Wetlands and surrounding areas. If he were to serve as the examiner for the 287th Hunter Exam as described in the original, it would certainly be interesting, as that exam took place in the Milsy Wetlands, the same one attended by Gon and Hisoka.

Meanwhile, Luo's physical strength had undergone a tremendous transformation, but there was still a gap compared to Antomu.

The Zoldyck family has a stone gate known as the Testing Gate, also called the Gate of Hades, composed of seven gates of varying sizes. Each gate on either side weighs two tons, with each additional gate doubling the weight.

The seventh gate, with a total weight of 256 tons on either side, while the sixth gate weighed 128 tons.

Six months ago, Luo couldn't even push the four-ton first gate, but now, without any increase in lung capacity, he could barely open the sixth gate.

Actually, after completing the first phase of training, Luo had an idea to visit the Zoldyck family's home and try pushing the Testing Gate.
