Chapter 497: The Origin of Magic Power and the Truth of the World!

The power of a nuclear explosion is terrifying. When confined into a beam of light and fired straight down, the towering sacred mountain Arlusta trembled violently under the strong energy wash, as if it were about to collapse.

Most of the mountaintop was leveled, and countless rocks tumbled down, raising dust nearly a hundred feet high.

Such concentrated energy could penetrate a mountain, but to Victorio's surprise, the energy column stopped after drilling into the peak, as if it had encountered some obstacle...

Once the light cone dissipated, they could see what had stopped the energy column: a vast amount of magic stones!

Lynn was astounded; he hadn't expected there to be a magic stone mine here, and so close to the Holy City!

They hadn't felt any magical fluctuations before, likely because Aila had deliberately used divine magic for concealment.

More importantly, at the center of the magic stone mine, at the end of their vision, was a massive convergence of magic power, an ever-swirling magic node, like a vortex continuously circulating.

It was a space-time portal!

Lynn and his companions immediately understood Aila's intentions and used their strongest methods in a vain attempt to leave her behind.

Red electromagnetic railguns, invisible spatial blades, and powerful fifth-level laser beams were fired one after another.

However, Aila didn't slow down; her divinity surged, and the space around her twisted, deflecting and neutralizing all attacks! The previously closed space-time portal started operating again, the vortex expanded rapidly, and soon swallowed Aila.

It took Lynn and the others about half a minute to barely catch up.

Relying on electromagnetic acceleration, their top speed could reach about one and a half times the speed of sound, but even that was slower than Aila, who could shorten distances with her lunar divinity.

Controlling space, this was like a cheating ability.

The activated space-time portal began to shrink, indicating it was about to close...

To pursue or not? This life-and-death question immediately surrounded everyone's minds.

It was known that no one who entered the space-time portal had ever come out alive!

Lynn and Harof exchanged glances. Given their current state, they did not dare to pursue rashly. The magic power around their bodies divided, each sending a magical avatar directly into the space-time portal to see the situation inside.

The next second, the two magical avatars disappeared from their view, and their faces showed horror.

"How is it?" Aurora urgently asked.

"My magical avatar disappeared," Harof said, looking very upset.

Although he knew beforehand that the space-time portal was not to be entered lightly, he had now stepped into the realm of legend, and even a mere avatar had extraordinary power.

"Did Aila do this?" Aurora's face was uncertain, suspecting that after entering, Aila might have been waiting on the other side of the portal, then turned around and annihilated their avatars.

Harof didn't respond but turned to look at Lynn.

"My magical avatar also disappeared, the moment it entered!" Lynn's expression was equally grave. To be cautious, his primary task for this magical avatar was to immediately transmit back any information from the other side using electromagnetic communication.

The moment it was sucked into the portal, the connection to his soul was cut off!

He guessed there were two possibilities.

First, the other side of the space-time portal was incredibly dangerous, or there was a very powerful being lying in wait, killing the avatar immediately upon entry, leaving no chance to send back messages.

Second, there was something unusual about the location they entered, completely blocking their senses, hence breaking the connection directly!

Both guesses were not good.

The former meant they might not be able to enter, and the latter meant they might not be able to come out once they entered!

"Where does this thing lead to?" Lynn looked towards the gradually closing space-time portal, murmuring to himself.

He didn't expect Harof and the others to be able to answer; he had read the council's records on the exploration of space-time portals.

Unexpectedly, at this moment, Victorio suddenly spoke up.

"That might be the origin of magic power, the starting point of everything!"

"The origin of magic power?" "The starting... point?"

Harof and Aurora stared at Victorio, equally surprised that he would suddenly speak up, especially with such explosive words.

"What does this mean?" Harof didn't want to deal with these roundabout things, directly asking for an explanation.

"You should have sensed it when Aila opened the space-time portal just now," Victorio reminded.

"Magic power?!" Lynn's mind raced, with his legendary-level perception, he naturally could sense the massive surge of magic power the moment Aila opened the portal, significantly increasing the area's magical density.

Combining this with Victorio's words, a terrifying guess emerged in Lynn's mind.

Months ago, in a uranium

mine, he discovered a peculiar phenomenon: many protruding rocks showed signs of partial assimilation by magic power.

Could it be that he had been wrong all along, and it wasn't the massive magic power accumulated in the magic stone mine that created the natural space-time tunnel, but the continuous influx of magic power from the other side of the space-time portal that contaminated the magic stone mine!

Just as these legendary wizards could craft bodies with magic and energy, perhaps there were conditions under which ordinary minerals could be transformed into magic stones—crystallizations of magic and matter!

But if this guess was correct, it implied a terrifying truth: the world's magic power might all come from the other side of the space-time portal...

"Are you sure?" Aurora, too, had thought of this, finding it hard to believe.

"Not sure..." Victorio said hesitantly. "This is information I found in Divine Punishment Army Commander Gustav's mind. I can't confirm its authenticity."

Victorio's expression was no more relaxed than Lynn's. They had always believed that magic, like elements, was a fundamental existence that made up the world. Yet, they learned from Gustav that magic comes from beyond this world.

If this news got out, it would likely cause a huge uproar among wizards, and theories on the origin of wizards would be overturned!

Victorio had planned to open the sealed space-time portal in the land of wizards once this matter was resolved, to confirm the truth and see if a massive influx of magic power would occur, before discussing this matter.

Harof was also deeply shaken, and after a while, he suddenly asked, "What about Aila? Does she also come from the other side of the space-time portal?"

Aila possessed the ability to open and close space-time portals, while they could only restrict and seal them with alchemy, the gap was obvious.

"How would I know?" Victorio shook his head, limited by the information he obtained from Gustav's mind. If it weren't for Lynn and Ivina properly stimulating Gustav back then, he wouldn't have been able to extract this possibly true or false information from Gustav's intensely fluctuating thoughts.

After a pause, Victorio spoke again. "Perhaps the Holy City's library has records about the other side of the space-time portal."

If Aila came from beyond the portal, she would surely know about it.

If not, then the church, having ruled the continent for hundreds of years, would likely have conducted some research, which would probably be recorded and kept in a secret place.

"The Holy City?" Lynn looked back at the city that had already collapsed into the ground, thinking it would not be easy to find records about the space-time portal amidst the ruins.

"What a pity..." As the rotating space-time portal completely closed, Aurora couldn't help but sigh; this would have been the best opportunity to kill Aila.

Due to the destruction of the Sky Dome Tower by them, this church's false god probably had some problems, allowing them to take the opportunity to defeat her.

"But we have no way to kill her." Harof said helplessly, having exhausted all their methods in the fight, even such a high-density nuclear explosion couldn't destroy that strange crystal.

He couldn't even think of how to truly kill her, let alone why Aila suddenly fled. If she had persisted for a few more minutes, they would have been the ones considering retreat.

"Let's seal this space-time portal first!" Victorio made several complex hand seals, and chains of runes flew out from his domain, circling near the space-time node.

Lynn also stepped forward, using his minor ability to manipulate space, in coordination with Victorio, they twisted the fluctuating space curvature around them.

The last time they sealed a space node in the land of wizards, it took three council members, nine grand wizards, and half a month to get it done.

Now that Victorio had broken through to legend, it wasn't so troublesome. With Lynn's cooperation, in about half an hour, the constantly rotating space vortex nearly stopped, leaving only a cyan space-time node at the center.

Of course, whether this seal could prevent Aila from opening the door again was uncertain.

Its greatest use was that if the space-time portal fluctuated, they could immediately sense it.

"The other space-time portals scattered across the continent also need to be dealt with," Aurora reminded, otherwise, she might slip in through other nodes.

Since they couldn't find a way to kill Aila and dared not enter the portal rashly, they could only try to block her way back!

After sealing the space-time node, the group's expressions were not good on the way back.

The outcome of this battle completely exceeded their expectations, and their questions only grew.

Lynn also thought about the strange crystal he had seen before, which might be Aila's method of dissolving the poison of faith.

Divinity, huh?

Lynn thought of this term and temporarily referred to it as such

.

It could withstand nuclear destruction without any damage, likely involving more microscopic forces.

Unlike Harof and others who believed in the mighty power of nuclear explosions, thinking it could flatten everything, Lynn was very clear about the limitations of nuclear fission and fusion.

There were many things it couldn't destroy, such as neutrons, protons, or even more microscopic quarks, gluons, and space itself...

Even a hundred billion-ton nuclear explosion couldn't destroy space, at most causing strong space fluctuations. As for larger yields, the federation hadn't tested them, as the efficiency of nuclear energy conversion was too low, truly a waste of resources.

"Lords of the Council, what about the false god? Is she dead?"

Seeing Lynn and others flying back from the other side of the Holy City, a group of wizards immediately came up to ask.

"Let's talk about this when we hold a meeting later." Lynn glanced at the kingdom's soldiers and didn't want to reveal anything here, skipping the topic and instead praised, "You did a great job, and the timing of releasing the Sunfire Cannon was very accurate."

"We almost thought Aila had hacked the electromagnetic signal and sent us a message," Raphael said with hindsight.

They were all aware of the Sunfire Cannon's power; firing it would not only potentially kill the church's false god but also possibly Lynn and his companions.

The pressure of making the decision to fire was not small, and no one dared to take responsibility.

So, when they received the transmission, they temporarily held a vote, with thirteen grand wizards, six deciding to execute, five opposing, and two abstaining...

Turns out the decision to fire was made by vote, Lynn couldn't help but laugh and cry, but he could understand, after all, his order was indeed somewhat abrupt, and there was no time for detailed explanations at the time, as the opportunity for battle was fleeting.

"So what should we do now?" Grand Wizard Alade asked in confusion.

They had finally reached the Holy City, intending to confront the church's elite forces, but Lynn directly bombed the entire city into collapse with an underground nuclear explosion.

So, apart from firing that cannon, they hadn't achieved anything else.

"There's too much to deal with now, and we need all hands on deck,"

Lynn shook his head, instructing the grand wizards to lead the kingdom's army in organizing the excavation of various areas within the Holy City, a massive mess.

"Be careful, maybe some cardinals survived the collapse!" "Also, if you find any survivors, interrogate them immediately about the church's library location and prioritize digging it out!"

Lynn added, then flew towards the nearest space-time portal location with Victorio, needing to seal all the other space nodes.

The matter of the Holy City was temporarily left to Harof and Aurora to handle.
