Chapter 261

In the secret realm before, Ling Chunann had already decided to help the protagonist eliminate his inner demons, and of course, he did so. Besides letting the protagonist kill himself, there were actually many other methods, but he chose the most straightforward and brutal one: to directly modify the protagonist's memories of that segment.

This method sounds simple, but in reality, human memory is complex and interconnected, and altering even a minor detail can be incredibly difficult. So, without the protagonist noticing, Ling Chunann indeed spent a great deal of effort to succeed. Fortunately, they spent enough time in the secret realm, and the protagonist did not have any suspicions towards him, having consumed many of his pills and even meditating in front of him, which gave Ling Chunann many opportunities.

Hearing Ling Chunann's explanation, 098, who initially thought the host was just getting along well with the protagonist, suddenly felt a chill thinking back on those seemingly normal details.

Ling Chunann ignored what 098 thought. Since the protagonist was no longer in danger, he had nothing to do with him anymore. As for the camaraderie among fellow disciples, they had already become immortals, and the protagonist had joined other sects, so strictly speaking, they were not from the same sect anymore.

As dusk fell, Yun Su put down the book in his hand, walked over to Ling Chunann leaning by the window, and gently smoothed his hair ruffled by the wind, "Baby, it's time to go."

Despite the opposition from Lansha and Yun Zehan, the group from Jing Tian Sect decided to take the secret path in the end.

As night descended, the group followed the map to the relatively less defended western courtyard of the city lord's mansion.

Someone with sharp eyes noticed a small door at the bottom of the courtyard wall that could allow one person to pass through, "There's a small door here, probably used by the servants usually."

"The door is open!" another person pushed the door open, and it creaked open.

"Heaven helps us, let's go in quickly," Lan Feng said excitedly.

"Wait," Yun Zehan interjected, "How can such a large mansion have its door unlocked? There must be a trap."

"What trap? You people from the big sects are just cowards. If we don't leave now, we'll all be in trouble here. I heard that every Flower Morning Festival, they use foreigners as sacrifices," a fairy-level cultivator spoke, his low cultivation making him almost powerless in the fairy world, vulnerable to being killed by anyone easily.

"Yes, it was you who suggested leaving, and now you're hesitating at the last minute, truly damaging our morale."

"Are we going or not? The invisibility talisman won't last long."

Lansha glanced at Yun Zehan, helpless but nodded, "Let's go."

Yun Zehan was the last to enter the door, glancing at the street corner subconsciously before entering, but saw nothing.

Ling Chunann was standing at the street corner, unexpectedly noticed by the protagonist.

Yun Su asked softly, "Baby, do you want to take this route?"

Ling Chunann shook his head, "No."

The group of more than ten people successfully entered the city lord's mansion. Except for the solemn faces of Lansha and Yun Zehan, the rest of the cultivators were excited, thinking little of the city lord's mansion.

They easily bypassed the mansion's guards and quietly headed towards the back courtyard.

Surprisingly, there were no guards in the back courtyard, and the study room where the secret passage was located was pitch dark.

The leading cultivator exchanged glances with others, all seeing the excitement in each other's eyes. The leading cultivator was the first to reach out.

"Hold on!"

Everyone turned their gaze towards Yun Zehan, who still frowned, "I still feel there's a trap. We should take a different route."

This time, the cultivators didn't even bother to listen to him and directly pushed the door open.

The study room, obviously unused for a long time, had no dust on the bookshelves but felt eerily abandoned.

Seeing no one inside, the group sighed in relief. The cultivator who opened the door, proud, gave Yun Zehan a smug look. This person, Chen He, had a cultivation comparable to Lansha, both at the celestial realm, and even higher than Lansha by one level. Among the cultivators not from Jing Tian Sect, he held considerable prestige.

Finding no protective spells at the door, Chen He gestured, "Let's go."

The group entered the study room, with Lansha finding the switch for the secret passage under the desk corner. She looked at Yun Zehan, who nodded.

As the switch was pressed, a secret door opened, revealing a long secret passage behind the bookshelf.

The group was thrilled, "A secret passage!"

Yun Zehan threw a stone into the passage.

After a few echoes, nothing happened.

Chen He patted Yun Zehan on the shoulder, "Fellow immortal, I told you you were worrying over nothing. There are no traps. Let's focus on escaping."

He led the way into the secret passage, followed by the others.

Yun Zehan, ignoring Chen He's mockery, felt an even stronger sense of crisis and stopped the four Jing Tian Sect disciples from following, "Don't go in yet."

As the others entered, Lan Feng became anxious, "Junior brother, what do you mean?"

Lansha said, "Someone is coming, we must go quickly!"

At this time, the city lord's mansion was brightly lit, with dozens of celestial and hundreds of terrestrial immortals tightly surrounding the back courtyard, leaving only the secret passage as an escape route.

Although most of the city's immortals were out to encircle the protagonist and his group, the situation facing Ling Chunann and Yun Su was evidently much more severe.

Standing in front of them was a fairy king, two major realms higher than Yun Su. A direct confrontation would be unwise.

This fairy king, with charming peach blossom eyes and a radiant appearance, though androgynous, did not seem out of place. If it were a normal time, Ling Chunann would have admired such a sight, but now was not the time.

Recognizing him at first glance, Ling Chunann realized this was the same person who had been staring at him when they first entered the city. Although he hadn't seen his face from the second floor at that time, becoming an immortal had sharpened his intuition. Moreover, the way he was being observed was exactly the same as before.

Knowing his rank made the person's identity clear. Qi'an City had only one fairy king, the city lord Qi'an.

Yun Su, disliking how this person looked at his treasure, stepped forward to shield Ling Chunann, "What do you mean by this?"

"Leave him behind, and I'll let you go," Qi'an said, running his fingers through his slightly disheveled hair. His voice, slightly husky and rising at the end, was incredibly seductive.

Yun Su remained unmoved, "No."

"I'm not asking for your opinion," Qi'an's voice became lazy, his gaze sharp.

The tension between them grew, ready to erupt into battle.

Ling Chunann stepped forward, holding back Yun Su who was ready to attack, and looked at Qi'an, "May I know what the city lord wants with me?"

Qi'an, previously cold, instantly brightened, "How did you know I'm the city lord? We haven't met before, have we?"

"I've heard of the city lord of Qi'an City's outstanding appearance, and seeing you today, your reputation is well-deserved," Ling Chunann smiled.

"Ah, how embarrassing, you're making me blush," Qi'an said, and his face indeed turned red, matching his handsome features perfectly.

Yun Su, who had drawn his sword, "…"

"City lord, you're not here to capture us for the sacrifice, are you?" Ling Chunann asked.

"How could I? You're so beautiful, how could I bear to do that?" Qi'an waved his hands, his tone much more sincere, "I saw you when you entered the city a few days ago. I wasn't prepared then. Seeing you about to leave so soon, I hurried over today. I'm here to invite you to become my city lord's consort."

Ling Chunann: "…"

Holding back Yun Su again, Ling Chunann cleared his throat, "I already have a dao partner."

"You mean him?" Qi'an looked Yun Su up and down, his disdain clear, then turned back to Ling Chunann, earnestly analyzing, "Look at me, I'm more handsome, a fairy king, and a city lord with power and status. In what way am I not better than him? Plus, you're so beautiful, beauties should match with beauties. Of course, I'm not saying this brother isn't handsome, but compared to me, the difference is not just a little. Wouldn't it be more beneficial for you to become my city lord's consort?"

Watching Qi'an fully immersed in his own world, unable to stop, Ling Chunann couldn't help but roll his eyes and let go of Yun Su's arm, deciding that fighting would be more straightforward.

Yun Su immediately drew his sword and attacked Qi'an, aiming precisely at Qi'an's face, whether intentionally or not.

"Hey, why suddenly attack?" Qi'an exclaimed, but as a fairy king, he easily dodged the sword with a slight sidestep.

Despite being lower in cultivation, Yun Su didn't rely solely on cultivation for combat, otherwise, he wouldn't have been able to search tirelessly for Ling Chunann across various realms upon entering the

fairy world.

In their first clash, Qi'an was completely at a disadvantage, not gaining any upper hand. He began to see Yun Su in a new light, his attitude shifting from nonchalance to seriousness, only to become increasingly alarmed as the fight continued. Yun Su's moves were too unpredictable, and Qi'an couldn't see through them, forced to defend passively. No matter what technique Qi'an used, Yun Su seemed to see through it. From the start of the fight, Qi'an hadn't touched Yun Su once, instead causing considerable damage to the city's buildings.

After another failed strike, Qi'an retreated, "Stop, stop, you're playing dirty, I can't even hit you!" He looked painfully at the damaged buildings and waved at Yun Su, "Just go! I don't want to see you anymore."

Ling Chunann, who had stepped back when the fight started, approached Yun Su, looking at Qi'an still in shock, "Then we shall take our leave."

Qi'an's attitude towards Yun Su and Ling Chunann was vastly different, nodding repeatedly as Ling Chunann spoke, reluctant to part, "Come back and visit if you have a chance, beauty."

Yun Su took Ling Chunann's hand, his gaze full of warning towards Qi'an, who defiantly glared back.

Seeing the men act so childishly, Ling Chunann held back his laughter and pulled him towards the city gate. Since the city lord had spoken, the guards dared not stop them, opening the gate for them.

Just as they left the city gate, Qi'an's voice followed, "Great beauty, Qi'an City will always welcome you back to be the city lord's consort!"
