Chapter 40: Plunder

In Chrollo's house, warm sunlight slanted down, casting a glow on a cup of tea placed on the windowsill.

Chrollo held a black notebook in his left hand and a pen in his right, slowly writing in the notebook.

Pakunoda stood quietly beside him, watching the characters slowly emerging from Chrollo's pen, and asked, "Isn't it too reckless to have Luo go after the Cook brothers?"

"This is what he wants, isn't it?" Chrollo seemed to have finished writing. He put down the pen and carefully looked at the four characters he had just written in the notebook.

Pakunoda fell silent upon hearing this.

"Pakunoda, what do you think of Luo?" Chrollo gazed at the characters in the notebook.

After thinking for a moment, Pakunoda spoke in an uncertain tone, "Loyal and righteous?"

Chrollo smiled, stood up, walked to the window, and placed the open notebook on the windowsill, then looked out at the sky, not completely obscured by the house.

"How did a person, who did not know the common language a month ago, know about the Southernpiece Auction House, and also possess exceptional appraisal skills? That's quite unreasonable, isn't it?"

"I think he's a very interesting person."

Chrollo looked down at the characters written in the notebook, which were precisely the four characters in regular script: God's Hand.

At the church, Luo had casually materialized that book, and Chrollo had memorized the four Chinese characters on it at a glance.

...

At Cook's lair.

Luo kicked the door open, sending a brawny man crashing into the house, which instantly gathered everyone inside to confront this uninvited guest.

The kick, charged with a small amount of aura, knocked the unfriendly brawny man unconscious.

With no one blocking the door, Luo entered leisurely, closed the door behind him, and looked at the people inside, who looked displeased.

"Eleven people in total, one down."

Luo gathered aura in his eyes, scanned the people present, and was slightly relieved to confirm that none of them knew how to use Nen.

If any of the Cook brothers knew how to use Nen, the plan to quietly take the money would be ruined.

"Who are you?"

The leading fat man was furious.

Luo was surprised and asked, "Don't you recognize me?"

"Get him." Hearing Luo's question, the fat man didn't want to waste words. His eyes turned cold, and he charged at Luo.

They didn't know who Luo was. Since the other party came looking for trouble, they didn't need to be polite and intended to break Luo's limbs.

"It seems they really don't know me. Well, whether they recognize me or not doesn't matter. We've been enemies for a long time."

Thinking this, Luo confronted the charging fat man head-on, choosing a direct confrontation.

Despite the obvious difference in size and strength, the aura wrapped around Luo's fists allowed him to ignore these differences.

"Boom!"

A punch landed on the fat man's swinging fist, and with a muffled sound, the fat man was sent flying into the air, crashing heavily against the wall and slipping down unconscious.

This sudden change made everyone else's heart skip a beat, but they didn't back down. They grabbed sticks, chairs, and tables and, like wolves, attacked Luo together.

"Nine left."

Luo looked at the enemies attacking him, his expression very calm.

The life-and-death battle with Cook had transformed him completely, fearless in the face of this scene.

Five minutes passed, accompanied by groans and screams, all the enemies in the house lay on the ground, unconscious.

Luo had measured his strikes well, not killing them but knocking them out.

After dealing with the obstacles, Luo walked around the house without any psychological burden and soon found a safe in a corner.

The square, green safe was covered with rust, and its ordinary front door had two dials.

"There's actually a safe."

Luo was stunned by the green safe.

Usually, safes are directly linked to valuable items. Since they resorted to using a safe, there must be a substantial amount of cash inside.

Originally, he just wanted to plunder Cook's lair for some inheritance but didn't expect to encounter a safe.

"Can't have too high expectations. Before opening it, there's no telling what's inside. It would be a letdown if it were just some porn magazines. Besides, I don't know how to open safes. Should I wake someone up for the code?"

Luo stood in front of the safe, looked at the people lying scattered around the room, and pondered.

"Right, I can try using God's Hand."

Suddenly, an idea struck Luo. Acting on it, he squatted in front of the safe, extended his hand, and carefully controlled the aura inside him. Utilizing God's Hand, he aimed to peel off the safe's front panel to open it directly, mindful of controlling the extent of God's Hand's range.

The goal was merely to remove the front panel, being careful not to affect the contents inside.

Luo placed his hands on the safe's door, focusing intently on controlling the output of aura, using his willpower to activate God's Hand's ability.

A white halo slowly emanated from Luo's hands, covering the safe's door.

Luo carefully managed the range of the ability, ensuring God's Hand's power enveloped the entire door before slowly retracting his hands.

Silently, the entire door panel was removed by Luo's hands, revealing stacks of colorful Jenny notes inside.

"Success."

Luo breathed a sigh of relief, gently placing the door panel on the ground. He didn't immediately start looting the safe but instead inspected the cut edge of the door, which was extremely smooth.

Luo pressed his finger against the smooth cut, chuckling bitterly, "With this ability, I could probably open any safe."

After a self-deprecating remark, Luo's eyes lit up as he looked at the Jenny notes in the safe, unable to estimate the total amount but certain it was enough.

"I really hit the jackpot. Need to find something to carry this."

Excited, Luo began searching the house again and soon found a red backpack.

After emptying the useless items from the backpack, he went to the safe to stuff stacks of banknotes into the backpack.

Cook had sought to kill Machi and the others to satisfy his twisted desires, resulting only in severe injuries. Now, by plundering Cook's leftover wealth, Luo was settling scores.

Quickly, Luo emptied the safe of Jenny, zipped up the backpack, slung it over one shoulder, and prepared to leave.

"Shouldn't we share whatever is seen?"

At that moment, a voice came from the door.

Luo's expression changed slightly, and he quickly turned around, surprised at the person standing at the doorway.

"You are... from yesterday?"

"Indeed."

The red-haired young man's narrow phoenix eyes slightly narrowed.
