i can't stand junko's speech and note even bc of the timing bc how could you dare blame the downfall of their relationship on hachi, as if both of them didn't have busy lives and didn't have time for each other. they all pushed the fuck out of nana to get her own place and get a job and to not be so clingy, and she does exactly just that but they blame her for it it's mind boggling and it just goes to show how junko and shoji don't know her at all...and that nana despite being her roommate for just weeks somehow understands her much more. also wish u hadn't skipped hachi's inner monologue after nana says that if ur just waiting just to show you're waiting, it shows you're self centered and that she hates self centered woman...goes to show nana's view of women bc of her own interalized misogyny from her mum leaving her and hachi internalizing nana's word and self hating. tbf staying up late just bc u want to see someone is unrealistic...it's an act of love, act of service and completely normal LOL which is what hachi wanted to do but it's fascinating to see how diff characters interpret such a simple action. also I'm gonna be very honest who is junko to but in to someone else's relationship..she's known hachi since highschool and shoji she only became FRIENDS with in college, it's actually crazy the way she lectures hachi, and i understadn that's just their dynamic and hachi also lets it happens bc she fakes this naivety but doesn't make it any less fucked on her part

i think it has to do with a culture thing. in the early 2000s it's normal for japanese women (and probably most of east asia) to reflect on your own mistakes if your boyfriend leaves you or cheats on you. Most of the time people never suggest a woman in a situation where the man cheats to break it off or that it's good riddance, but instead it is advised that the woman must try to be better and try to win the man back.
