Towards the end of the discussion when you can tell Caleb's eyes are burning thinking about Kaori's position, really resonated with me and how I felt as I watched this for the first time. Great reaction and post-discussion, guys!

What if Kousei didn’t jump in, and wasn’t her accompanist. Haha like what if he just turned her down all the time. That would’ve been hilarious.

I remember thinking of ugh this girl is so perfect lol. I love her character (aside from the physical abuse on someone who was physically and mentally abused ) but thought she'd be another one of those everything is sunshine and rainbows. Of course, I'd heard some fantastic stuff about this show and knew this outlook would have to change. I also think its because as you stated, we saw this sparkly persona through Kousei's eyes - someone who for a long time has detached from the world around him. Someone who sees themselves as dead inside meets someone who seemingly is the embodiment of life, its addicting and infectious but its distant - in a place he doesn't feel he can truly belong. This show's straightforwardness is fueled by one's own personal experiences paralleling with these young kids. I'm glad you reiterated these are just 14 year olds, dealing with these tough things. Anyways, I totally feel your discussions and thoughts on this show and am glad you're pressing through despite your hesitations with these types of shows. I also second your thoughts on communication and understanding Caleb. The many things I have seen go horribly wrong all because of a lack of both are ridiculous and thinking on past experiences I could literally start crying. Very nice discussions and Jacob you're doing a great job of not spoiling but still adding to the discussion as well! All in all, very great episode and the reactions and talk was top notch as always. Caleb, you almost made it man, almost without tears.
