A lot of Oikawa's mannerisms and phrases leave an unsettling vibe. That "you stupid little brat" is so terrifyingly good. You guys definitely read that line the way I did lol. Great discussion! :D Also, Oikawa, is a third year. He is 2 years Kageyama's senior.

Amazing discussion guys, I love hearing your thoughts regarding Oikawa! Also fun fact: just like a lot of the moves that are shown in Haikyuu, all of the moves that Oikawa used in this episode are real moves that have been used in volleyball before! Pretty badass :D

Yeeeeeeess, we're finally here! :D Episode 21 is one of my absolute favourite episodes so I can't wait for that! Also, Oikawa is one of my favourite characters and like Caleb said: he isn't as nasty and arrogant that you think he is. Sure, he IS arrogant and he IS extremely confident and he can be nasty but he has his reasons. I'm really looking forward to you learning more about him and discovering his backstory :)

Don't forget that Hindachi and Kunami, Abba Josai 1st years, were Kageyamas' teammates when he first played against Hinata in episode 1 (so there is a connection there as well)

Ahh I LOVED your discussion, especially the points you made about Oikawa's character and actions vs. those of Karasuno's team. Also, Oikawa is the central focus of his team as the "conductor," due to his setter position and his well-rounded play style, but Seijoh is definitely not his one-man team (you'll get an idea of what that actually looks like later on in this series). You probably don't remember since it was just one line, but Aoba Johsai was actually introduced as a team comprised of members that would've been aces had they gone to other schools. It's just that Oikawa's charisma is so strong and the hours he's spent honing his abilities are so high that he just stands out from the rest (putting his prettyboy captain appeal aside lol). His trust in his players and their abilities is absolute though, and he has that trust from his teammates in return. They all joke around and make fun of each other from time to time as friends do, but that underlying respect is always there. It's why Kageyama looked up to him so much and sees him as such a threat because Oikawa is able to bring out everyone's ability to the max due to that trust, while that is still something Kageyama struggles with despite his progress. Can't wait for the rest of your reactions!!

It has begun :D Finally! Some things I wanted to mention: 1) Oikawa is a third year, as most captains are. 2) The matches do go on forever! I don't think there's a point where they stop the matches and switch to a timer. Some fun facts: a) the highest scoring set was 41-39 (Italy vs USA), and b) the longest single match lasted 25 hours, from Saturday to Sunday morning (Poland vs Germany). Sooo, Caleb, you could technically get a match that lasts forever :D 3) Nice discussion of Oikawa's character! I'm glad you guys got over your initial first impression of him. He's a great character, but I still don't like him. Iwaizumi gets less screentime, but I definitely like him better as a character. I can't wait to see your reaction to future episodes!

Ah, what a thing to wake up to. Wonderful, wonderful discussion this week, guys! You got so many things on point, you have no idea. It's very interesting to watch while knowing the context of the whole story. Simply amazing discussion of Oikawa's character, I applaud you. The content you make is seriously a ray of sunshine, thank you so much!
