"Remember, don't underestimate insectoid beasts," A white-haired elder of the Chrysalis Sect lectured. He was standing in front of the entrance to a forest with trees over a hundred meters tall at the shortest.
"Our Chrysalis Sect specializes in taming insects because insects have lower intelligence and are easier to command. Commanding doesn't mean that they are easy to control," the white-haired elder continued. "Insects have lower intelligence, but it is precisely because of their low intelligence that we have to use more of our spiritual sense to control them. However, this also means that their instincts dominate a large portion of their responses. If we fail to control them, then just wait for them to devour you!"
Hu Landie listened to the elder's warning with a calm expression. Every disciple who gathered here was either in the Core Formation Realm or had attained their spiritual sense in the Foundation Establishment Realm, like her. Her spiritual root may be average, but her soul was far stronger than in her previous life.
"Older Cousin, don't you think it's dangerous for you to enter the Myriad Insect Forest as a foundation establishment disciple? You should wait until you enter the Core Formation Realm."
The Myriad Insect Forest was a resource point for the Chrysalis Sect. Inside, numerous monsters were bred, and disciples would be allowed to enter to tame monsters and seek materials once every ten years. Elders could enter and exit as they liked.
Hu Landie spared a glance at her younger cousin, Hu Lansí. Thanks to her superior spiritual root, Hu Lansí already reached the Core Formation Realm after thirty years. Unlike her, who was still stuck at the peak of the Foundation Establishment Realm.
Seeing Hu Landie ignore her, Hu Lansí almost stopped her feet in anger. She reigned in her anger and said, "Older Cousin, since you are determined to enter. How about going with me? This way, I can protect you."
Hu Landie inwardly sneered and walked away. Hu Lansí wanted to stop her, but one of her friends stopped her. "Lansí, stop bothering with her. Since she's seeking death, let her go."
"But she's my Older Cousin. When I was younger, she took care of me, and the elders of my clan told me to take care of her," Hu Lansí said.
Her friend sighed. "Lansí, you're too kind. Are your clan elders blind? It's obvious who's more important between the two of you. Why should you waste time on someone who's ungrateful?"
Hu Lansí forced a smile and said, "I know, but I can't help it."
"You, ah, you!" Her friend helplessly said.

Hu Landie's lone eye sharpened as she entered the Myriad Insect Forest. As a foundation establishment disciple, she waited until all the Core Formation Realm disciples had entered before she walked in.
Aside from her, there were five other foundation establishment disciples, but they all shied away from her as she passed. Since taming insects required a strong soul, the Chrysalis Sect had a secret method to increase their soul's strength and attain spiritual sense in the Foundation Establishment Realm. It was a coveted technique that other third-rate forces on the Earth Continent envied.
However, Hu Landie didn't use that technique, but a technique she memorized in her previous life. At first, this brought much attention, but after realizing that she possessed a triple spiritual root, all the elders who had been interested in taking her as a disciple lost interest.
After she entered the Myriad Insect Forest, a moth flew about from her sleeve. It was a gray month, less than a meter in height. As it flapped its wings, its dust-like scales covered Hu Landie and hid her sense of existence.
Hu Landie continued on her journey by flying on a plate-shaped artifact after the moth returned back into her sleeve. She had already planned her trip into the forest.
After several detours and close calls with monsters equivalent to the Core Formation and Nascent Soul Realm, she arrived at her destination, a hole under a kilometer tall tree.
The hole led to a cavern under the ground. When Hu Landie first stepped into the cavern, she could see numerous poisonous centipedes crawling about. However, thanks to the most scales covering her, the centipedes ignored her.
Hu Landie continued her way into the cavern and reached a circular opening where centipedes over ten meters crawled about. She could even see numerous holes in the walls from which they crawled into and out.
At the farthest wall from the entrance, a skeleton wearing the Chrysalis Sect's uniform leaned against the wall. Upon seeing it, Hu Landie's eyes focused on the bag on its waist.
Most beast tamers raised a large number of beasts. It was impossible for them to carry so many on their body or follow them around, so they carried pocket habitats. They came in numerous shapes and forms, but they all served one function, to store tamed beasts until the tamers needed them.
Of course, pocket habits were rare, and even among the Chrysalis Sect, few disciples had them. In her previous life, she recalled envying the previous disciple who happened to chance upon the corpse of the Chrysalis Sect senior.
Hu Landie didn't walk over there immediately. She could sense the faint fluctuation of a master-level monster near the corpse. She flattened her body against the wall as footsteps echoed from behind her.
A disciple she recognized as one of the core formation disciples participating in this event entered. Behind him were a giant cockroach and numerous centipede corpses. His eyes lit up with joy as he spotted the pocket habitat.
The core formation disciple didn't immediately go forward but ordered his tamed beast, the Hundredlife Cockroach, to go forward to retrieve the pocket habitat. The cockroach scurried forward.
Just as it was about to reach the corpse, a meter-long centipede head popped out underneath and bit the cockroach.
The core formation disciple frowned and then threw several talismans at the centipede. The talisman released electric shocks that forced the centipede to release the cockroach, but even so, the cockroach lay limply on its back with its legs twitching.
The centipede hissed and charged toward the core formation disciple. The disciple didn't panic as an even larger cockroach emerged behind him and clashed with the centipede. Not long later, the first cockroach joined the fight after the core formation disciple used a forbidden technique to revitalize it.
As the battle persisted, the centipede used its body to slam, bite, and poison the cockroaches, but true to their name, they refused to die. Finally, the centipede used its sharp pincers and sliced open the larger cockroach's abdomen.
However, this spelled the master-level centipede's doom. Numerous baby cockroaches crawled from their mother's stomach and started to attack the centipede. Not long after, the centipede collapsed dead, but the horde of cockroaches didn't relent.
They started to devour the giant centipede. After that, they devoured their mother's body too, and then the other giant cockroach who had died when the poison finally settled in.
But it didn't end there as the hordes of tiny cockroaches started to devour each other. When it was finally finished, only one cockroach was left. It was about the size of a hand and still very weak, but its potential was far greater than the centipede or the two previous cockroaches.
The core formation disciple held the hand-sized cockroach and stored it in his robes. Then, he excitedly retrieved the pocket habitat from the corpse. As he walked passed Hu Landie, she released a tiny bit of killing intent and prepared to off but suddenly stopped.
The core formation disciple looked around with suspicion, but not discovering anything, he chalked it to his paranoia and continued on his way. As he left, Hu Landie followed close behind.
As soon as the core formation disciple walked out, he immediately stumbled back and spat out a mouthful of blood. "How dare you!"
Hu Landie watched coldly as the disciple who discovered the pocket habitat in her previous life smiled and said. "Senior Brother, don't blame me. Just blame yourself for being unlucky. Besides, even if you have it, with your background, you can't hold that pocket habitat. It's better off handed to me."
The core formation disciple laughed madly and said, "Luo Fanchen! Even if I die, I won't let you get it so easily!"
Luo Fanchen's expression turned serious as the core formation disciple charged at him. A half-meter-long bee with a meter-long stinger appeared on his arm like a katar.
Hu Landie waited until the Luo Fanchen won. The core formation disciple had just fallen over dead, and at his most vulnerable moment, she appeared behind him and stabbed him while stuffing something into his mouth.
"Who?!" Luo Fanchen swiped his arm, and Hu Landie crashed into a tree, spitting out a mouthful of blood.
Luo Fanchen glared at Hu Landie. "Oh? You're quite the beauty. Too bad you're too greedy and don't know your place!"
Luo Fanchen was unharmed, and only his tamed insects had been killed by the battle earlier. He stopped a bit and looked up and down at Hu Landie, who stumbled back onto her feet. "If you beg, I might consider letting you live. How about it, beauty?"
Hu Landie didn't enter and released her moth. The moth only had a chance to cover her in a thin layer of scales before Luo Fanchen's tamed insects eviscerated it. However, it was enough as Hu Landie slipped away.
Luo Fanchen chased after Hu Landie. The moth scales only made it difficult for him to track her, but it was not impossible. The chase lasted over two hours, and after two hours, he finally cornered her, but all his imposing manner had disappeared.
His eyes had turned bloodshot, his skin pale, and blood constantly leaked from his mouth. The worst part? Something was squirming underneath his skin!
"Woman, what did you do to me!"
Hu Landie only coldly smiled. A moment later, Luo Fanchen's body became as still as a statue. A second passed, and numerous larvae burst out of his body, drowning his clothes and ground in blood.
Without Luo Fanchen's control, his tamed insects began to scatter. A few tried to go after her, but with her concealment techniques, they soon lost her. After they all left, Hu Landie walked toward Luo Fanchen's corpse and picked up his belongings.
Next, she inserted her spiritual sense into the pocket dimension. Inside, she recognized the eggs of the Swordpoison Centipede, Thornleg Cricket, Razorwing Mayfly, and many more. She even discovered an egg for Whitebone Beetle, a monster that could reach venerable-level combat strength!
Hu Landie then stored all the larvae that had popped out of Luo Fanchen's body. She was going to find a secluded location to use them as nutrients to break through to the Core Formation Realm.
