Before her obsession with the dark arts drove her to madness, Varina lived a life of luxury and wealth. The daughter of a powerful politician, she thrived on the gossip and the darker deeds that came with her fathers dealings and eventually took part in them herself, seducing men to further her father's, and her own political ends. But as her mind began to slip, she took a fancy to viciously murdering them on a whim. Her obsession with sorcery, coupled with her relentless pursuit of ultimate beauty, proved to be her undoing. Her growing insanity became a smear on her fathers great name and so he sent her own brother to assassinate her.
