The Thirteenth Floor of Fenrir’s Dungeon

The mercenaries all go on alert the moment the tunnel’s exit seals behind them.

“Victor!” Artorius shouts at the Dark Elf while narrowing his eyes on the slab that had closed off the tunnel behind them. But the party’s scout just shakes his head and looks further in the tunnel as he calls back, “We have more important problems right now!”

This attracts everyone’s attention to where he’s looking, just for them all to notice the ground beginning to shake just a little bit.

“Looks like we found the mini boss!” Victor shouts while raising his knives and adding, “And don’t worry about traps. I don’t see any nearby!”

The Silver Knights all tense up as the ground continues shaking more and more. But nothing happens beyond that for nearly an entire minute.

So the mercenaries all slowly begin making their way through the tunnel, stopping only once when they see one of the portal doors.

“Where do you think the mini boss is?” one of the Orc twins asks while clutching his sword in a tight grip.

As if answering him, the tremors running through the tunnel come to a complete and sudden stop. Just for the wall of the tunnel to burst open and a giant worm with its large mouth wide open speeds into the tunnel straight for him, who was at the back of the group. He jumps back to avoid it, but it still manages to hit his arm with the edge of its head, sending him flying into the wall with a grunt.

“Watch out!” Artorius shouts while quickly turning around, just to find the large worm digging into the other side of the tunnel. So he raises his sword and coats it with a silver mana representing his metal element, enhancing the sharpness of his blade before bringing it down on the worm’s side. But the blade doesn’t pierce through its body and instead bounces back off with a ping sound.

The leader grits his teeth in pain as the sword in his hands vibrates from the blow’s recoil, and the others take that as a cue not to follow through on their own attacks and instead jump back. Meanwhile the worm continues passing through the tunnel into the other side before vanishing into the wall, with it and its original entry point sealing themselves.

“Shit, we need to look for its weakness!” Artorius shouts, his hands still shaking a little from the impact. He looks around before narrowing his eyes on the door and jumping towards it, opening it up to reveal a portal. “Get into the portal to regroup!”

Everyone in the group immediately jumps through the portal, with Cruz’s twin helping him through the portal to appear in a large and incredibly dark room.

The Orcs look around the room before noticing the others scattered a few meters around them, all with confused expressions on their faces. But none of them are as confused as the scout, who is also holding his head and grimacing.

“Where are we…” Artorius mutters while looking around, just to notice the countdown at the top of the room. “And what’s the countdown for?”

After a few more seconds of looking though, he notices Victor’s expression and asks, “What’s wrong Victor?”

The man in question grimaces for a few more seconds before letting out a sigh of relief and frowning. He then turns to look at the group leader and answers, “There’s something in the darkness around us absorbing my magical senses…”

Artorius’s eyes widen in shock at that before narrowing again as he looks around and says, “If that’s the case, then everyone be extra careful about traps!”

Right as the others begin to speak, the sound of electricity sparking stops them. They all immediately turn around to look at their surroundings, but since its too dark they aren’t able to see anything clearly and are left regrouping in a circle facing outwards.

“More eels?” Victor quietly asks as the snapping sound of the electricity increases in volume. His voice quietly echoes through the area as the countdown above continues ticking. But once his voice stops echoing, the electricity suddenly all crackles at once, following which several of the eels suddenly burst out of the darkness right through their group from different angles while shooting bolts of black electricity at the ones they pass by before leaving out the other side of the circle.

The healer and mage of the group both let out grunts as the electricity strikes them in two different places each and they fall to their knees.

“Zander! Elois!” Artorius shouts, his voice sounding a little frantic for the first time since entering the dungeon. But he calms down again after seeing Zander climbing to his feet again, already having healed his wounds.

Artorius lets out a sigh of relief before turning around again and saying, “Watch out for the eels and be quick to react!”

                                                                                                             Fenrir

I continue watching the group struggle in the darkness of the center room, but they slowly get used to the room and make the rest of it rather simple.

“I didn’t know you added that to the room,” Dawn mutters with intrigue as she watches the intruders fight off the eels.

“Yeah, it was a bit of a last minute addition,” I answer off handedly without taking my attention off of the intruders, who are beginning to plan about how to deal with the mini boss outside. They already seem to have assumed that they’d end up back at the tunnel once the timer runs out, and are sharing what they saw of the mini boss. Trying to find its weakness.

The mini boss for the floor is unique in more than just where the floor is and how the battle is set up. It’s also the first mini boss that I’ve made that was only able to be defeated by a particular weakness that the creature has.

Well, unless the intruder is just brutally overpowered for the floor. Like a Tier 3 for example.

I continue watching the intruders for the remaining time left in the countdown until the intruders are suddenly teleported back into the tunnel from random doors.

Let’s see how this turns out.
