I grit my teeth as I slam into the rubble down on the ground, with my fingers frost bitten. Which is a first ever since I became a frost infused.

Fortunately for me, the frostbite doesn’t last long and quickly begins to recede at a visible pace. Probably thanks to my Cold Immunity ability. So I push myself to my feet and focus upwards at the large bug, finding the creature already rushing towards me.

But the moment it gets close, I use Cold Burst with as much energy as I can pack into a single hit. Sending a wave of cold energy outwards, freezing everything and sending the bug recoiling backwards. Albeit with a lot less force than it sent me flying with before.

Then I fly back up into the air again, ignoring the last bits of the frostbite still on my fingertips as I create some distance between the bug and myself.

Also unlike with when it hit me, my Cold Burst didn’t do much damage. So it quickly begins to rush after me again.

Leaving me wondering just how I should deal with this creature.

It has barriers and powerful offensive abilities as well, even if it’s injured. Is still faster than I am, even if it’s by a much, much smaller margin. And it seems to be resistant to my own abilities to a degree judging by the result of that Cold Burst.

Should I go ahead and lure it to another building? Would that even work?

Can I even guarantee that I could make it safely to the basement before said building collapses?

I grit my teeth for a second, only to dodge the bug at the last second and immediately begin heading towards another building.

No. I won’t be destroying another building.

But what I can do is use another building to my advantage in a different way.

The thing won’t be able to move as quickly inside of a building. Nor will its vision be as good.

If I’m to beat this thing, I’ll need ambushes.

The bug follows me through the air after stopping its momentum and turning around. And it follows me all the way to the next building, at which point the building begins to shake when the bug follows me into it. Damaging the walls in the process.

But just like what I expected, the creature doesn’t cause anywhere near as much damage as the first time.

Which also implies that the other plan of destroying another building wouldn’t work anyways. What with it not being fast enough to destroy it in a balanced manner.

Not anymore.

Anyways, I quickly fly through the building from one hall to another. Occasionally moving up and down stairs to confuse the thing and make it believe I’m running.

Then I find a cosmetics store within the mall and spray myself down with a deodorizing spray, following which I spray random areas that I pass with perfume and the like. Just trying to confuse its senses. If that’s possible. Even if it would only work for determining the exact path through the building to find me and not to hide my actual location. What with its cold energy senses and all.

I continue moving through the building a bit, keeping track of the bug through my energy senses and trying to determine if its pattern of movements have changed or not. And they seem to have changed a bit.

Mostly in the sense that it’s no longer taking a straight path towards me. Instead ending up taking the wrong way sometimes and then breaking through a wall or something.

Good. Confused it.

Now that it doesn’t know exactly how to get to me at any point in time, I move up a floor and wait upstairs near the stairs themselves. Just waiting for the creature to get near the stairs itself.

And when it does, I let it enter the stairs before I immediately jump down from above and stab it in one of its wings with my claws and the Cold Spike extending from my fist. Ripping its wing apart in the process and sending it flying into the wall, only for it to crash through it and fall out of the building towards the ground below.

The creature no longer able to fly thanks to only having a single wing left.

I can’t help but smile a little as I walk to the edge of the building, right where the hole is. At which point I stare down at the ground below to find the bug having crash landed.

It’s currently trying to get up again, though. Proving that a simple fall won’t be enough to finish it.

But that doesn’t mean I can’t finish it myself now.

So I jump from the hole in the building and fly down towards the creature. Stopping just a dozen or so meters above it in the air as the bug itself turns its head upwards to glare at me while screeching out its anger.

I stay flying up here for several seconds, waiting to see if the bug will do anything to me while I’m up here. Waiting to see if it even can do anything to me.

And, while it takes a good few seconds, the thing does actually do something.

It spits out some sort of green liquid at me that I hurriedly dodge. Leading to said liquid splashing on a building and beginning to melt through the wall of said building.

Acid.

Great.

Was really hoping this thing wouldn’t have any sort of ranged abilities, but I guess that was too much to hope for.

I quickly begin to send one arc of cold energy after another at the creature while avoiding its balls of acid. Meanwhile the creature uses a barrier to block each one of my attacks.

But after doing this for a few minutes, I swoop down to strike at the thing with my bare claws. Taking it by surprise and destroying another eye before retreating back into the air again.

Pissing the bug off even more.

Now for the real battle to commence.

A fair one, unlike the one before.
