My first take of this video I went on a big rant but soon realized that I'm here to help people relax and find the peace they deserve. Emotionally rambling about serious issues too big for me to ever articulate properly isn't the way to go about it, especially as a privileged white person who can't begin to fathom the oppression PoC face. So, although I want to make a video screaming for all the hurt and injustices that have been rampaging our country recently (and for fucking decades and decades), I figured it'd be best for me to make a video to help those who are feeling helpless, anxious, scared, alone, sad, angry, etc. and then use my platform in a better way by promoting ways you can help in the description/comment section. I was ignorant and didn't understand the BLM movement initially because ALL lives matter...right? Well, that's what the movements GOAL because, clearly, all lives don't matter with black people facing all the bullshit they do just because of their skin color. Black Lives Matter, TOO, is what the movement is saying. In too many ways over too many decades have black people been treated in ways that tell them they DON'T matter and it's all coming to a head right now with the grotesquely unjust MURDER of George Floyd by police. Of course, George is not the only black person to have lost their life due to police brutality and racism... this movement deserved to have this kind of momentum years and years ago. But we're here now and we can't let this pass as just another twitter trend. These are real people, humans just like us, who are being unfairly persecuted and murdered. SO, what can WE do RIGHT NOW? Trying to protest right now in the midst of COVID and riots is scary, I know, and I applaud and admire every person that goes out to protest despite it all.
