At the start of this year I had every intention of drawing up something medieval, putting together another book, a little writing. I even had a draft all bullet-pointed out.

But then in February I took a trip up to York. In the 10th century, at the height of the Viking Age, it was known as Jorvik (yor-vick). It was the capital of Norse-occupied England and a swathe of the British Isles known as the Danelaw. Needless to say, it really reignited my love of this brief slice of European history. Nobody did it quite like the Vikings.

So I've changed tack a bit. By the end of this year I want to put together some new kind of collection, digital for sure, and make something whole and narrative. I want to draw characters (some people might recognise a few if you've been following me on tumblr for too long <3), places, myths and monsters. I want to push myself and my art style to some new places, make some ambitious pieces, slow down and really dig into each one.

Here are a few to begin, now I've decided on a name for this little project.

In Old Norse, the word vargr is heavy with meaning. It can mean a wolf, but also an outlaw, a wicked beast. A vargr is a man banished, reviled, fit only to hunt. Anyone could slay a man named as vargr, but I think this story is going about the one woman brave enough to try.
