I spent a lot of time yesterday soaking my brain in the illustration work of Sachin Teng, whose comic covers I adore amongst their very extensive portfolio. I decided to take a crack at an image inspired by their style. 

Featuring one of my FFXIV characters, an elven paladin from the nation of Ishgard. The blue crystal towers are the turrets and spires of his home city.

As a piece I think it's successful and I'm pleased, but as a style study of Teng's work it's missed the mark! Their art has an organic and tangible quality that my own style doesn't quite hit. Their use of colour and line in harmony captures shape and volume in a beautiful way. Here are some samples of their work!
