I experimented with a couple of things with this image, the first was giving a character a tattoo that went across their back. For those of you that don't know, in Daz Studio, as well as most rendering programs, the surfaces for any object in a scene are saved as flat images. So, the torso for a figure looks like this:

Anyway, trying to get a tattoo to go across the spine and look right can be very difficult. I've purchased tattoos that are already configured to do that, but this is the first time I've made one from scratch.

The other thing I experimented with was duplicating the effect of a split-focus diopter, which can allow the foreground and background of an image to both be in focus. You can read more about it and see how it's used in movies here:

Instead of side-by side, I blended two versions of the image so both the character in the foreground at the bottom and her opponent in the background at the top were both in focus,

You should consider dropping a few bucks on Blacksmith over at Renderosity. It allows projection painting for this exact thing. =D
