Socks come in pairs. If you put a sock on your left foot, the other sock of the pair instantly becomes the “right sock,” no matter where it is located in the universe.

So if a sock goes through the wormhole in my dryer, and I put its entangled pair on my left foot, does that other sock become the right sock on the other side of the wormhole?

No, it turns into Leonard Susskind’s left foot, and you can’t draw it back either.

When I was young I found out that the big toe always ends up making a hole in a sock. So I stopped wearing socks. ~ Albert Einstein

Wait, this was Sabine's explanation of entanglement. You guys aren't doing your socks together are you? :-P

This is great but can you explain how socks get paired?

The analogy is meant to represent local action vs. "spooky action at a distance". It just means that the entanglement was established locally so if the items are subsequently separated by great distances then the distant action is simply a matter that if you have the red sock then you know the distant item is the blue sock.

Lolololol the unsolved question is whether or not the right sock was aware of its state before the left sock was identified ;)
