We've been talking a bit about black holes lately, and will continue to do so. We tend to be pretty theoretical in how with think of them, partly because the theory predicts some fun stuff that no human will likely ever experience. In fact the second part of this episode will be the answer to our...

The mass of a collapsing star is stopped first by degenerative electron pressure (white dwarf), then by degenerative neutron pressure (neutron star). However we know that there also exists degenerative quark pressure, that would create densities at least 100 times more than neutronium and would have an escape velocity greater than the speed of light...an event horizon. Why do we always attribute singularities (zero volume, infinite density) to black holes when we have obvious and understandable alternative materials that would, at least for low mass black holes, infer that within the event horizon there is good reason to expect a core remnant with a tangible surface within?
