Hey guys, Matt here. Wow, after a day and a bit we're already at $4K in pledges! It means an awful lot to us that you decided that Space Time is worth supporting this way. To thank you for jumping on board so quickly, I wanted to offer a heads up on some of what we have planned over the next few months.

I hinted at the end of the Strange Stars episode that we're going down the entropic gravity route. Well, not quite. We're going to be opening up new threads and expanding old ones. One such thread will lead to the holographic principle, after which we could talk meaningfully about Verlinde's entropic gravity idea. I dunno, maybe we'll say something about it earlier, but for it to make sense we'll need the background on the holographic principle thread, which we'd already planned. Given that entropic gravity may well be complete bunk, I'm actually much more excited about some other things on that path. For example,  the relationship between Hawking and Unruh radiation and the physical meaning of the Bogoliubov transformations, through which Hawking discovered this radiation (hint: the event horizon is NOT a boiling see of Hawking radiation). Then of course there's the holographic principle itself. I'm personally going to have to do a LOT of work before I can say smart-sounding stuff about that one.

This will also be threaded with related cosmology, quantum field/string theory, and a bunch of more fun futurism and astrophysics. I hope you stick around for it, because... Well, I don't think I have to remind YOU that, holy crap, this universe is amazing.
