I love the conversation about the most wild ideas you had while you were an undergrad. I have a wild idea about the nature of dark energy which is why I'm back at school to learn about it :D I've also decided to double degree in computer science so I don't completely have my head in the clouds.

On the topic of Special Relativity in Atomic Physics, mentioned as a pitch early in the conversation: I heard from my physics professor nigh twenty years ago it seems (oh my!) that Special Relativity might be implicated in the oddball not-silvery-grey color of Copper and Gold. No explanation or papers cited, just a little something he passed on from the physics grapevine. I got the impression that it was recent speculation, not sure if there was a (un)published paper behind it or just conjecture.
