April 7th 2016 Brightedge City, Hall of Nevers, 10:00 AM EDT
After fucking Silver for a few hours to release some frustration (letting that fucking Fear host get away passed me off, but starting a massacre or holding any of the crime lords would have been a mess) I made her suck me clean and sent her packing with a slap on the ass. Her squeak was pretty hot as she bolted off to work on tracking down the Order, and I went back to the hall of nevers to sleep.
When I woke up the next morning I was refreshed and ready to take on the day. I hadn't made much on Silver in terms of GP, but turning that slut into a drooling mess after so many years was another kind of satisfying. That girl was stuck up to the extreme the first time I met her, and while a quick suck had helped me relieve the aggravation back then, it was nothing compared to putting that pussy through its paces.
Sadly, the time for banging busty blondes was over for the moment, now it was time to work, which is why I found myself waiting outside my castle for Tamlin's delivery of one Cu Sidhe. A fae hound that would be able to help me track the vampires in the city.
The woman standing outside was one of his Dryads, though not one I'd met before, and she was as usual pretty sexy. Paler than most, with barely any green to her skin and her green hair in a delicate braid down her back, she was wearing sunglasses and a leather jacket with jeans a t-shirt. She smiled at me when I approached. "Lord Nicholas." She said wryly. "I bid you greetings from his grace Tamlin the Falconer, and come with your assistance for this great task you undertake on behalf of the city."
I'd somewhat assumed Tamlin would come with me, but given his obvious wariness of Mary I wasn't going to push it. If he was going to bitch out last minute he'd just slow me down. I crouched down next to the large black dog reaching up to scratch behind its ears. "Hey there bud. Aren't you just the goodest boy." I said to him cheerfully, ruffling his floppy ears in greeting.
The dryad raised an eyebrow, and I rolled my eyes. "Look. I like dogs ok? They're cute and they do what you want them to. They're loyal and fuzzy." Which was true. I wasn't an emotional person, but I liked my creature comforts. Dogs were big warm buddies, and you didn't have to be capable of interpersonal attachment to like them. I could still feel happiness, and cuddling a dog made me happy. I wasn't going to turn into a total baby talking idiot about it but I could still chill with a puppy.
The dryad just shrugged, handing me the leash she'd been holding. "Lord Tamlin says you can keep him. Consider him a gift. His name is Magnus." With that she turned and walked away as I played with my new dog, and I was so wrapped up I didn't even check to see if she had a nice ass until she was out of sight. Damn.
"Alright Magnus." I said, hopping to my feet after rolling around on the ground a bit with him. "We're hunting vampires today. You know what those are?" He barked, and I blinked in surprise. "That...kind of sounded like a yes. Ok bark once for yes and twice for now. You know what vampires are?" Bark. "You've met one before?" Two barks. "You know what one smells like though?" Bark.
Damn, this was convenient. I was secretly stoked to have gotten such a cool dog. Dinah was going to be thrilled when I brought him home. He could chill with the baby for protection. "Alright bud, let's bounce then. The sooner we identify where these assholes are the sooner we can raid the place and kill them." I had a sneaking suspicion the Fear host would be seeking out the Cult of the Blood Red Moon first thing. So the faster we could track them down and prevent that from happening the better.
I tugged Magnus's leash, but only gently, and sure enough he picked up the hint and moved exactly how I wanted him to. What a good boy. Then we headed off in the direction of town. The Hall of Nevers was at the edge of the city, and Brightedge proper was pretty large, so we had a bit of a walk ahead of us, but I didn't mind. It wasn't like I got tired, and it gave me a chance to do some planning about my next steps with this whole system thing.
My options were limited, that was just a fact. I needed to get rid of the Fear host before one of the others showed up. If two of them attacked me together I might not be able to handle that shit. Speaking of handling things, I also needed to get that Raven girl under my control. She was strong as fuck, at the same level as Tamlin and Mordiel, and I could really use that kind of support. Plus those fat goth titties. I wanted to make em bounce.
So that was two things on my list, but I needed a cleansing object of presumably at LEAST the same level as Raven to remove her father's influence, and I had to actually find the system users, so my best first step was to find and stake out the vampires (hah). When the Fear host showed up I could jump and kill him, after possibly pumping him for information about the other systems in case he knew something I didn't.
As I considered my options, I began to notice the streets around me changing. The architecture got more luxurious and stylized, the houses bigger and more palatial. This was the area where Cherry Hill used to be, and it had been changed in the merge. It made sense I'd get her quickly since Cherry Hill was where my estate had been, but I wasn't too upset about finding my way to this place. I was pretty sure that vampires liked fancy shit, so it was as good a place to start as any.
As I wandered past the buildings, Magnus sniffed and snuffled, trying to catch a scent I had no way of detecting myself. My nose wasn't that good, and while I could MAKE it that good, it would be a pointless waste of an upgrade to do so. I had my new doggo now anyway, so he could do the sniffing. We wandered for about twenty minutes like that, crossing in between houses and behind estates, trailing down winding driveways and side paths.
Finally, as we were walking through a park, Magnus tensed. I stopped, raising an eyebrow at him, but not speaking. To my delight, he seemed to understand the request for more info, because he tugged his leash, wandering off into a copse of trees and pulling me behind him. I did my best to walk silent, controlling my steps to prevent my weight from breaking sticks and leaves loudly enough to tip anyone off.
We trailed through the trees to one side of the path, walking through shadows and into dark places untouched by the light of the sun. Hunting vampires this should probably be worrying, but I wasn't scared of some undead suckbags, I was a fucking dragon. I just strolled unconcerned through the dark underbrush until we came to a large clearing, in which stood a huge and somewhat crumbling cathedral.
The whole place was straight out of a gothic horror movie, pieces of loose stonework strewn about and overgrown with ivy, cracked walls giving slight glimpses inside the structure so I could get quick glimpses of shadowy forms that might have been vampires or might have been rocks. I looked down at Magnus. "Here?" He whuffed quietly, clearly knowing that a full bark right now would be too loud. Good boy.
I let him lead me around to the side, where the scent got stronger I supposed. I took my time and watched out backs, unwilling to get jumped by fanged assholes from behind like some slutty teen summering in a Romanian village. When we came to a spot with an incredibly thick shadow cast over it, Magnus started to growl, and I nodded to myself. Found them I guessed. I wasn't planning to fight, but if they jumped us I was confident I could escape even with the dog to slow me down.
Moving toward the wall where a small hole was located, I peeked inside to see...nothing. Not like darkness, but like a totally empty church. I looked up at the ceiling, half expecting to see the bastards hanging from the rafters like bats, but nothing. Huh. I slipped through the door slowly and quietly, doing my best not to alert any possible vamps still hanging around, however figurative that may be.
Magnus's growl got louder, and I tried to shush him, but when he didn't react I just shrugged and let him pull me along. I couldn't sense anything nearby. My senses weren't as good as his when it came to scent, but my eyes and ears were plenty sharp. There was legitimately nothing around here. No movement, no scuffling. Even if they were remaining totally still and silent how long could they manage that.
We approached the back corner of the room, the growl growing louder, and I was now sure that none of these bastards were here. I had good senses, and while they weren't perfect, they should be plenty strong enough to find a whole bunch of vampires. But Magnus was sent by Tamlin to help, and the Dryad TOLD me Tamlin said he'd be useful. Fae didn't lie. They manipulated the truth and pulled bullshit with words, but Tamlin had no reason to try to trick me yet. There almost had to be vampires here, so where the fuck were they.
As we got closer though, I also started to smell something. Not vampires, at least not probably. Something more annoying. Something I'd smelled before a few times after fights. Death. I could smell corpses here. Real corpses I assumed, not animated ones, and sure enough as we came around the corner, there was...a scene.
The bodies were posed for me. In a really weird way actually. An older woman and a series of teen girls, all sitting in a series of expensive padded chairs and loveseats, with saucers of tea in their hands. They all wore old fashioned dresses and bonnets, which I was sure they hadn't had on in life, and their fingers were curled around the saucers in the tight grip of rigor mortis.
I sighed and looked down at my dog. "Goddamn it. This where you smelled the vamps?" He barked once. "Great, so they hung around here staging this shit for a few hours to leave a scent marker. Don't suppose they left a trail out of here?" Two barks. "Of course not. That would be far too easy."
Reaching into my pocket, I fished out my phone and punched in a number. "Yeah, Silver? Need your Talons for a cleanup. Vamps dumped a bunch of girls in an old church to throw off my tracker. Its in a clearing off what used to be woodside park in Cherry Hill. Good, I'm getting out of here want to try and catch a trail, take care of it." I hung up once I got her affirmation and turned to my dog. "Alright bud, we're doing a lap of this place to try and find a trace of them, if we can't we'll try a different angle." I wasn't wandering around the whole fucking city waiting to catch a scent. We could use Magnus to narrow things down, but a lead would help us start the search. Probably time to call Nightwing.
