I did get another blowjob, and Zee was awfully generous with how rough she let me be, regardless, I enjoyed myself and I got a nice handful of those tits while she sucked me. I could have probably pushed her into a fuck, but with that fucking monster of a house watching my every move I wasn't willing to try messing with her desires too much. Besides, I'd gotten distracted, but I had things to do still. Specifically I had gear to make and upgrades to do with all that magic shit I'd bought, and I was excited to get started.
I had everything laid out on the table in front of me, and Cherry was next to me looking things over. The only two items I didn't add to my pile was the Babylon Candle and the Pendant. Everything else was mixed in with my stock of valuable random items for merges. I'd considered my best move to power up was a combination of gear and backup. Cherry needed her upgrade still, so I'd decided to use one of the magic items to boost her before the party. I didn't want to bring Whisper while she was pregnant, as useful as she would be, so I planned to get Cherry to the point where she would be just as useful.
I even knew what I was going to give her. I held up the hand of glory for her to look over. "So, I've been considering exactly what I need, and I'm missing an infiltrator and thief. I'd considered using Cheshire for that, but honestly she isn't reliable enough. You've been so helpful to me, and I'm still working on finding Trevor, so I thought a present might help you feel a bit more taken care of. You know what a hand of glory is? Any issues having a power like that?"
She actually giggled with anticipation. "Not at all daddy, I do know what a hand of glory is, but they're rare. Most of them have long since been used, and hanging has gone out of style in most of the European countries that used to make them. I'm shocked you found one with this much juice left in it. The only ones I've ever heard of were almost burned out. This looks like it has another three or four uses in it. How would the power work though? Would my fingers catch fire? just so I know what I'm in for."
My shrug was lazy. "Who knows. It's sort of up in the air. The merges are odd and sort of unpredictable. I just know they tend to conform to your wishes as best as possible within the meta. Well, my wishes, but I don't want your hands catching fire during sex so my preference is little to no physical alterations so that'll probably be what we get. So, you ready for this? Because you can back out." I smiled at her smugly. "I'm sure Barbie would love to have this kind of ability. Batgirl could definitely use some powers."
Cherry's teeth ground as she glared out of the room towards the front door and presumably at Barbie. In all seriousness I wasn't actually in a hurry to give Barbie powers. I wasn't clear on her loyalties, and my policy on direct micromanaging was even more applicable to someone like her than anyone else I had on the payroll. Maybe someday Barbie would prove herself enough to become part of my daily operations, but until then I'd be keeping the merging powers of the system in my back pocket.
Cherry shoved the hand back at me. "I don't recall asking for a lecture daddy. I'm just waiting for you to start." She raised an eyebrow challengingly and I reached out and grabbed and handful of her ass, pulling her in for a rough kiss. She moaned into my mouth, running her hands over my body before she pulled back. I grinned and pinched her ass, getting another giggle. I had to admit I like Cherry. She was nuts, but her ass didn't quit and she fucked like a firecracker. Plus I was beginning to get used to her brand of insanity.
I gestured her over to sit down and put the hand next to her before triggering the merge without delay. With Cherry as the primary ingredient in the merge there was no reason to worry. She blazed to light, same as the hand, and both of the energies flowed together, recombining into a new merged version of Cherry. Sure enough there wasn't much to see about her shift, her blonde hair was a bit more white than before, and she was slightly paler, but other than that I saw no obvious signs she'd been merged at all. So of course I used appraisal.
[Appraisal function activated. Treasure detected. Charise Carnes- G ranked Phantom Lady. A ghostly phantasm given human form, Charise dedicates her new abilities to her 'daddy' Nicholas Lord. Enthralled by his sexual prowess and dominating hand she is devoted to his every whim, the only caveat being her requirement that he find her ex to prove himself. As a Phantom Lady Charise possesses the power to enter a home unseen and unheard, to leave no trace, open locked doors and keep her victims in a state of sleep.]
Perfect. She got all the tricks from the hand, plus some interesting potential ghost powers. Until then though, I noted the description, partially with pride and partially with a mental note that I really needed to contact the Calculator about Trevor. It was nice to have her loyalty confirmed, but I had a feeling based on the way that was phrased that if I fucked her over on the Trevor thing her loyalty would snap the other way quickly. Cherry was fun and sexy but she wasn't exactly mentally stable. Still, it shouldn't be too hard to make sure to catch one random guy, I just had to make sure it didn't get buried under other things I needed to attend to.
Cherry looked...rapturous. "I can feel it. The power. The magic. I want to test it! Can I rob someone? One of the neighbors maybe? I just want to steal something small and they'll never know." I had to laugh at the bubbly excitement. She stared at me hopefully for a minute, big blue eyes wide with hope, until I finally nodded and she squealed with joy. "Oh thank you daddy! I'll bring you back something nice I promise!" She grabbed me and yanked me down into a quick kiss before taking off out of the room to test her new powers.
Once she was gone I got started on my newest piece of defensive gear. My first decision was what to use. My regalia was great, but it was really noticable. It worked really well for Mammon, but I couldn't use it for anything else. In light of that I was thinking something a bit more innocuous for my new shield item. I started simple. A J ranked vest from a suit that would fit under my clothes and a J ranked iron hauberk from a shitty mass produced set of armor.
[Appraisal function activated. Treasure detected. Steel weave vest- I rank. A vest with reinforcing metal woven unobtrusively into the silk. Comfortable and stylish as well as highly durable.]
I smiled, that was a good start. Next I took out the shield talisman. It had a ten minute lifespan on it, which didn't work for me, so I set it down on a rechargeable electric car battery, merging the two together. The battery melted into the talisman easily enough.
[Appraisal function activated. Treasure detected. Lightning ward- H rank. A mystical shield talisman that converts electricity into raw defensive might, the more electricity poured into the talisman the stronger the shield.]
It was perfect. Next up I needed to add some shock absorption to the vest, no pun intended. I didn't really have any materials that would allow that, so I merged together a roll of bubble wrap and some styrofoam packing peanuts, then merged that with the vest.
[Appraisal function activated. Treasure detected. Shock absorbing steel vest- H rank. A durable and comfortable vest that nullifies impact from a portion of anything that hits it.]
Of course the next step was to merge the ward and vest, and I was pretty sure the shock absorption aspect of things would make it symbolically more compatible.
[Appraisal function activated. Treasure detected. Electric reactor vest- G rank. A powerful magical tool that turns electricity into raw defensive power, covering the wielder in an imperceptible shield that can nullify impacts.]
I merged together another two vests with hauberks, then merged those into an H ranked version of the vest, followed by creating an H rank shock absorber. I merged those two together to get another G ranked vest, this one shock absorbent only, and merged that with the reactor vest to make something a bit more powerful.
[Appraisal function activated. Treasure detected. Bulwark of electric force- F rank. A powerful mystical vest that converts electric energy into raw defensive might. Creates an invisible shield that can stop impact or magical energy.]
That didn't sound so much better, but it definitely was. Being able to defend me from magic was fantastic. Now I just had to figure out how to get it up to E rank. I had an idea, but it would be complicated and difficult, not to mention painful. I'd specifically used electricity as a base for the vest because I could generate the stuff now. I could theoretically merge the vest with myself, but I wanted to try to keep my powers focused into one vein. The dragon thing was neat and I wanted to see where it led, and I wasn't keen on branching too hard into the lightning stuff.
In the spirit of that I was going to try to put my powers to use upgrading the thing without merging it into me directly. Luckily I didn't need to. My blood had energizing properties. I went and found a nice gem and some batteries. Merging them all together to create a stone that could store power, then I slit my wrist open and poured a bunch of my blood onto it while focusing lightning into the red liquid.
Rather than let the blood charge it, I initiated a merge between the two. My blood was only G ranked when it wasn't part of me, which made sense, it was just a fraction of my power, but it was enough.
[Appraisal function activated. Treasure detected. Lifestorm lightning gem- F rank. A powerful mystical energy source made from the blood of a lifestorm wyrm. An endless source of electric power.]
Perfect. Now I only had one more step. I checked my Greed Points. I'd still have twenty thousand after I made my new defensive item. More than enough to avoid the system turning me into a jittery impulsive mess to get points. With one last look between them I initiated the merge of my second E ranked item ever.
[Appraisal function activated. Treasure detected. Mantle of Raiden- E rank. Protection and power. A bastion of defense against magic or force. A mantle of power rather than of physical substance, once adorned no sign of it's presence remains. Only the bearer can remove the mantle.]
It was...beautiful. A sleek black vest with crystalline blue streaks of lightning imbued gem thread playing across the surface, twisting through the fabric like solid electricity. I slipped it on, and like it said the second it touched my skin it melted into my aura. I could still feel it, surrounding and protecting me, but it would be completely invisible until needed. The best part was I felt it harmonizing with my nature, a synergy between the lightning in me and in the mantle. I wasn't sure exactly what was coming at that party. But I was pretty damn sure this would help.
