I love this series its one of only a few anime that really delve into the classic dungeons and dragons style fantasy instead of the generic jrpg fantasy. This and overlord really scratch that niche for me that is really rare. It also has a lot of surprisingly profound wisdom and well thought out ideas.

They dont really touch upon this in the anime but the reason he's a silver rank is because of guild girl. Breaking into silver rank is tough and is considered the first of the highest tier ranks and u don't normally get that by killing goblins. She had to put in the request and petition for his promotion using reasons like the huge number of goblin quest he's completed and the amount of good will and praise he gets from villagers that he saves ( which is rare for most adventurers). Plus the Guild likes the idea of having a specialist for goblins to help rookies and to keep their goblin quests from piling up.
