In the end it was not about who might be coming up, I think. But he definetely couldn't reach Machina with his telepathic powers. Which might say that she is actually in danger. I mean, she was being spied on earlier

I like that they animated little details. Like the Demon Lord casually putting his arm behind the hacker girl when she's walking backwards from check. Nothing's said about it in the dialogue, it's just a neat little character interaction detail. I feel like anime really needs more of this type of visual storytelling in general. A few shows I can think of that have a good amount of this are Hitsugi no Chaika (I love the show) and Hunter X Hunter 2011 (a good example would be at the start of the Chimera Ant arc just after they meet Kite when they're sitting in the truck. You can see the non-talking characters do all kinds of things in the backround such as turning their heads towards the speakers to listen, fiddling around and a few more things. Makes the conversation seem very natural).
