I think everyone has at least one story that they hold close to their heart, and when you get to re-experience it, it's so special.  I do love ATLA, but unlike Kineticist, it's not quite the pinnacle of my childhood--that honor goes to Sailor Moon.

(I may or may not have cried when Crystal came out, but no one was around to witness it.  Also, I cry at vaguely sad commercials, so it's not really an achievement.)

My point is that I think it's okay to admit to unashamedly loving something--deep down, everyone does!  Other people might not agree with you on the specific thing, but at the heart of it, we can all be proud of supporting the things that give us joy, no matter how old or how silly or (in Sailor Moon's case) how obnoxiously repetitive it gets when you re-watch it and realize that only 10 percent of the episodes actually mattered to the plot and the animation tends to be really patchy and sometimes there are very cringy storylines where a six year old girl goes back in time and attempts to woo her future father away from her future mom.  Er.  Right, so Avatar is very worth re-watching!

It's hard not to base your characters off yourself at least a little--and Kineticist wholeheartedly embraces my inner fangirl, and for that, she will always be one of my favorites.

%100 truth right here.

Poor Usagi skipped from relationship starting metaphors right to motherhood metaphors without the fun in between part. Honestly for me Ducktales as one of the first really lush cartoons of that era and I am happy how the revival is treating the property. Transformers is probably more core but that never quite goes away.

I haven't watched the new Ducktales, but I've heard really good things! I will have to check it out after I finish season 5 of She-Ra.
