This famed spa is a popular vacation destination, boasting some of the realm’s finest therapeutic waters. The resort’s hot springs are by no means natural, however. A trio of planar portals hover at the summit of Lovers’ Look, and multiple streams issue forth from these gateways. With waters heated by elemental fire and chilled by elemental ice, guests can always find a pool suited to their tastes.

In ages past an impetuous troubadour sought to win the favor of a disdainful nereid. He pursued her through ice and flame, and at last to the watery courts of her father, a powerful planar entity called the Maelstrom King. It is said that the troubadour sang so beautifully he won the heart of his beloved and the approval of her father. As a wedding gift the Maelstrom King presented the lovers with doorways back to the elemental planes—the very gates that now hover at the top of Lovers’ Look. The troubadour and his nereid bride ran the spa for the rest of their days, and their descendants run it to this day.

A tried and true trope in anime, “The Hot Springs Episode” offers a break from the more serious plot arcs in a traditional campaign. This adventure location is meant to serve as the setting for a lighthearted session, allowing characters the chance to unwind and interact in a low-stakes scenario. Risque shenanigans and romantic entanglements are the order of the day, and many players will relish the opportunity to explore character relationships outside of a typical adventure. Never fear, though. If a “social adventure” isn’t your thing, you can simply rescue semi-naked hotties from a crazed elemental. More on that love-lorn creature in future entries. :3
