That’s authentic Don Corneo dialogue right there. I hope they leave it exactly the same for the remake.

I find that one of the best parts about writing these comics is imagining the hijinks that happen off-panel. I can just hear the other ladies of Team Bountyhunter:

Well one of us has to act as the distraction.

I hear he prefers blondes. Meow.

Excellent point, Ranger! Fighter is easily the least stealthy of us, so it’s got to be her. Now let’s get to Wall Market and do the squatting mini-game.

Anywho, even though Fighter didn’t exactly volunteer for this particular mission, I think it’s still an interesting example of the sacrifice play. In this kind of scenario, one character gets singled out to go beyond and above the call of duty. Diving on the proverbial grenade can take many forms, from collapsing the portal from the inside to surrendering “so long as my friends go free.” The scenario changes up from session to session, but the in-game purpose remains the same: letting one player feel like a big damn hero.

So let us take a moment and salute all those noble souls who sacrifice for their friends. Whether you’re doing the Iron Man and heaving a nuclear missile through a portal or, like Fighter, allowing a gangster to heave his missile through your portal, hats off to you. Way to take one for the team!

My party was once having trouble interrogating a captured male drow. They did a "good cop, bad cop" thing, but he wouldn't budge. Finally, my Cleric decided to go beyond the line of duty and seduced him in the manner male drow are accustomed to; she threw him to the ground, stepped on his face, and use Command to make him lick her boot until he submitted. It worked, he was very loyal after that.

Is... is it funny that I kind of wish a scene like this existed in the original FF7? That cross-Cloud, whoo. *fans self* Ahem. There was once a mission in Pathfinder where the party was charged to sleuth up the killer of the VIP that we were supposed to bodyguard during a cruise. Two of the suspects included a lady who served as the ship's 'comfort' specialist as well as a male cleric of Besmara. Turns out the male had a particular interest in shapeshifting into a woman with magic before meeting with the consort. It -just- so happens that I'm playing a Kitsune rogue who has the ability to shapeshift into different Human guises, including both genders. So, after an exchange of dialogue and a diplomacy roll, my rogue gets a pleasant evening as well as access to a search that leads to some evidence. A bit less "taking one for the team" and more "Doing Norgorber's good work" but a memorable moment nonetheless.
