Hi Guys, just a quick update on what I'm up to this month.

This time it's all about SR6 Beta. I've already put a lot of time into this design over the last few months, but this last week everything has really come together. I've done a lot of 3D printing, I've disassembled the old Alpha prototype for its parts (pictured above), and I'm pleased to be able to report that the Beta prototype is now sitting on my desk.

The new design uses exactly the same parts, software and geometry as the Alpha, but it represents a huge improvement in the quality of the design. It looks a lot slicker, and I'm pleased with that, but the biggest change is that it's a lot easier to put together and take apart. I think I've come up with a worthy big brother to the OSR2.1.

So my plan for this month. I've been teasing this design for a while and I'm quite excited to show it off, but I also want to give it a proper unveiling. The $2 post will therefore be a dev blog with a preview and tour of the design.

Ultimately I want SR6 Beta to be a comprehensive package like OSR2, complete with a full parts list and step-by-step assembly instructions. I would like to release that next month as my $8 release. Writing assembly instructions does take quite a bit of time though, and I know a bunch of you are really excited to get started, so I plan that this month's $8 release will be the Beta part files.

Stay tuned. Really looking forward to bringing this release to you in the coming weeks!
