Welcome to Sandpiper Shore: Creating a New Location! (Patreon)

You might not know it, but we do a lot of research when creating new locations for this series.  Most of it isn't seen in the comic.  So we have files of research, sketches, concept art, that never actually gets used.  In an upcoming episode, we visit Sandpiper Shore.  In the series will see festival locations, a beachside motel, and various characters, signs, and fauna.

The inspiration for Sandpiper Shore, located on the Rainy Coast, was to find the perfect Pacific Northwest beachside down.  We jumped onto Google Maps and used Streetview to find locations we could base our town off of.  We moved up and down the Washington and Oregon coastlines to find a good mix of beach town.  We also searched for an older roadside motel, the kind you could imagine with neon lights, to use in the series.  In the photo gallery attached to this blog post, you can see some of our sketches for the town and various 'assets' as well as streetview inspiration we used.

You'll have to wait and see what it looks like when finalized, and just how little of it we actually used because of characters blocking most of it out, lol! Hope you enjoyed this little deeper dive into things.
