Did You Know This? Who Is Tallest? (Patreon)

So here is a silly little factoid for you.  As you know we have a "base" model for each character, but they can look different from panel to panel.  We aren't strict.  But did you know we officially have height differences among certain characters?  Its usually among characters that are often seen together.  We don't have a height chart for every character though.

For example, our most common characters together are Twilight, Starlight, Moondancer, and Spike.  Officially, Twilight is the tallest, followed by Starlight, Moondancer, then Spike.  But here is the fun bit.  Because of Moondancer's silly hair poof, she appears taller than the others when standing together.  But if you look at where their faces are in relation to one another, Moondancer is always shortest.  Their heights are not extremely different, but they are there.  Twilight is not the tallest by far compared to other citizens in Ponyville though.

A few more examples.  Octavia is taller than Vinyl.  Lyra is taller than Bonbon.  The Mane 6 have their heights too.  Rarity is taller than Twilight.  Next would be Applejack, Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash, then Fluttershy. Again, all minor, but it's what we try to follow when making the comic.

There are also slight body shape differences too that we commonly follow.  Yes, the character shapes have changed slightly over the years, but it only further cemented how we draw each character.  I think I will save those tidbits of info for another blog post!
