Backstage for "Merry-Go-Round" (Patreon)

I am not actually the biggest fan of this story. I wrote it for my creative writing club in high school at the age of like 16 or something. I might have intended it for a contest.

In those days I hadn't specialized to the degree I have now, and I occasionally wrote realistic fiction based on things that had happened to me. In real life, there was no one particular merry-go-round, just a whole lot of things that I'd mythologized from my early childhood that, when I had the chance to experience them as an older child, didn't live up to my memories.
