Hey there Nick. I feel like I’m dialling into your favourite types of movies. I’m so glad you enjoyed this one. The scenery and score were both epic. SPOILER WARNING AHEAD: A lot of the work done with the horse was about rebuilding his trust in people again. I always felt that when Grace was on him again near the end, Pilgrim was remembering how much he love her and all their time together. Hence why his ears picked up and he seemed content. The ultimate sign of a horse’s relaxation and comfort is the chomping and licking of the lips. Pilgrim does this several times during his sessions with Tom. The peace that the ranch life offers is tempting but I don’t see Annie or even Grace being fully content with that life full time. There are all kinds of love possible in this world. Unrequited love is the harshest and often the loneliest. Neither of them could say goodbye in the end. When Annie’s husband was a devotion type of love. He loved her completely and was willing to be by her side and try to make her as happy as he could through their lives. Annie’s affection for Tom was likely more of an obsession. He has such a commanding manly presence and compassionate toward everyone around him. It would be easy to see why any lonely woman would be drawn to him. Grace finally talking about the accident was one of my favourite scenes as well. In the end I’m glad you enjoyed it.
