One of my favorite horse movies!

also I'm a bit of a horse nut, lol, so wanted to explain the food thing. For Jockey's they have to be really, really, small, and not weight a lot. So part of why he wasn't used to eating a lot of food at the start is because he had to keep the weight off. And at the end when he wouldn't have a lot of food at the dinner he was trying to watch it for when he'd race again <3

One of the sad things that is lost with streaming is not having the benefit of DVD bonus features. One of the bonus features on the DVD for this movie is a 'making of' featurette that not only talks about the real historical events, but also shows side by side footage of the match race between Seabiscuit and War Admiral, both from the movie and from real life footage. The side by side shows how accurately they recreated that race, down to the exact position of the horses throughout the entire race, and even down to the position of people running across the infield. So how accurate was this movie to real life events? Well, here you go, enjoy! : https://youtu.be/1ofuQTct4HA The part of Red Pollard's friend George Woolf was not played by an actor, but by real-life Hall of Fame jockey Gary Stevens. He had never acted before and met with an acting coach in order to prepare for his role (he did a great job and the director called him a 'natural actor'). During scenes of the match race with War Admiral, there are many close-up shots where you can clearly see that it's actually Gary Stevens himself riding the horse (which is why they wanted a real life jockey for the role). And one other thing - although the actresses do look similar, the role of Charles Howard's wife Marcella Howard was not played by Rachel McAdams, but by actress Elizabeth Banks, who probably looked familiar to you not just because she somewhat resembles Rachel McAdams, but because she had a recurring role in all of the Hunger Games movies.
