You are not alone Nick. The first time I saw this movie I wound up feeling kind of 'meh' about all of the songs. Some of them have grown on me since then but for the most part that's still my feeling overall about the music in this one. So it was really a surprise to me when I went to the theater to see the Greatest Showman and wound up LOVING All of the music in that one, considering the songs in both musicals are written by the same guys.

That's John Legend, lol. :) Also, Ryan Gosling didn't take the job to pay for her to do her show, he just thought that's what he should do after hearing the call with her mom. It wasn't to support her/pay for anything for her...but that was probably a factor in the back of his mid for the future.
