Jet was 16 or 17 and Nickelodeon couldn't let them show a kid being killed so it was just sort of implied. Jet is a complicated person but since he was a kid who'd been so traumatized I feel nothing but empathy for him. It's interesting to me that he had such hatred for the fire nation but it was the earth nation that killed him.
